View Full Version : Sims 2 velocities issue (very rare, please read)

Sup, fellas!

First of all, I apologize if I labelled this in a wrong category, perhaps it should go to Technical Issues but I really don't know..

Well, this is related to the game's three (or four) different velocities: the normal one, the second which is a little faster, the third one and then the fastest mode which switches automatically when all Sims are sleeping (I don't know if it's as fast as the third velocity, actually, but anyways).

Thing is: one day I realized that, in the normal velocity, seconds began to last twice more than usual... Yeah, the days were pretty much longer, you see? And the Sims began to take slower showers and things like that but, beside this, they seem to walk and talk normally - the game itself wasn't slower at all, so it wasn't a hardware problem or something similar.

Then, guess what: I turned to the second velocity to see if I could accelerate the game, and Sims started acting normally according to that faster velocity... BUT, the time in the chronometer was now like in the standard mode: seconds passed as usual, as the 'real' time, say. And same with the third mode; Sims acted quickly as hell but the seconds passed as the second mode of velocity. Incredible! But annoying, at least for me.

I don't know why this happened, and it's happened to a couple of families only, so far. The only thing I was doing was just turning constantly the different velocities to play a fluent game... But I've always done that! I was doing that and, all of a sudden, I realized the aforementioned issue :|

If you have an idea... or if it has happened to one of you once... or even if it more usual than I though... Please, please let me know! I would appreciate a lot.

Love to all and thanks!

Did you do the Game_Help:Game_Problem FAQ? If not, please do. If you did the entire (multi-page) FAQ and were no able to find your problem, please let us know exactly what you did (in detail and in your own words) and the results of the various tests.

I've spending time on this problem half an afternoon and I realized that your family can go back to normal speed just if you move it to another lot... ALTHOUGH, I wanted to make sure about what is the specific problem that provoked this speed disorder - and what I did was to partly destroy the house of one of the lots that suffered the issue (I destroyed it without the family inside, btw); it was a three-floor house and was almost erased -manually- by me, except isolated pieces of carpeting, fences and the swimming-pool. And, guess what? After that, I put my family (the same one) to dwell in there again and the speed had gone back to normal :!: :!:

Look, I don't know which was the precise modification(s) I made in the house to make the speed normal again.. but it helped me to realize that it has somehow to do with the size of the lot (not the lot really, just the building, because it was a three-member family).. and I didn't believe some guys in here who stated that posibility; I never considered that house (the one I've just arranged) unusually big

Well, I hope this gives the experts an idea of which issues could the size of the building provoke.. Apparently, it's a very rare problem and anyone could find no answers into the FAQ and other help-oriented stuff here.

All I can add to this, is that I've played Sims 2 for years and it never happened... I use Windows 7 since few time ago but I wouldn't dare to say that it has something to do with all this..

Greetings to all!
