My Hair Mesh is Invisible

Those tutorials are absolutely ancient - there are much more updated ones using current tools and techniques - Dr. Pixel's hair meshing tutorial is fairly well updated to the current techniques, except for the parts about removing any of the b_hair/f_hair/etc. assignments since that is no longer necessary.
