Trouble shooting CAW/patches

I'm trying to install CAW and has found a help page I think is right. I need to install 1.24 patch because I have already tried and got this error message about invalid file. I tried installing CAW before that, and got errors about game not updated.

I run the last program for net 3.5. I'm not sure that's right but it produced this file error for me: Update for game\bin\packs TS3SP04\paul.dll Error: err0031 - invalid file found.

So I'm suppose to follow this "how to restore ..." subject.

I'm a bit :alarm: I don't find a file named "Sims3Launcher.exe" in my Sims3\game\bin.
I find "Sims3Launcher.exe.config". I can't find any straight .exe file in there. Is this the right file?

What patch file did you download? Not the SuperPatcher from here? Game_Help:TS3_Patching:Patch_Download/Current
And if you don't have Town Life Stuff as your last installed pack, you need to do the workarounds for CAW as shown in Game Help:Patch_Table - see the link to the Talk page.
