I built my own apartment building, and NPC sims arent moving in! i had already moved my sim in, but i went into buy mode, pressed control, shift, and clicked on the doors i wanted npc's in and clicked allows links and triggers or something like that, and clicked make usable for NPCs. i waited a sim week, and nobody had moved in. They are just empty rooms with the hidden room markers in them, and some had level skip markers. What did i do wrong? am i just not waiting long enough? is there a way i can force them to move in?

Do the rooms outside the rooms you want npc's to live in (ie the ones with hidden markers) have public markers in them?

Well, the doors lead outside... i mean, the second and fourth floors have balconies, will that work if i put one there? Theres one outside on the lawn, does that work for the bottom floor door?

The npc's need the public room marker in any room that they need to go "through" to get to their room. So a balcony wouldn't need it but the room outside their door should have one.

there is no room outside their door. I saw somewhere that i need a public room marker in their apartment as well as outside.

[Edit: heres where i saw it: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Tutorials:TS3_Sims_3_Apartments ]

If your NPC doors lead directly to outdoors you will need Buzzler's NPC door fix to have NPC's move in. Otherways the doors only work when they lead to a room with the public room marker.
