Ice cream/Icicle dilemma

Everytime my sims by an icecream/icicle from the van they catch a taxi to a park to eat it. I want them to eat it at home.

Is everyone else having this bizarre beaviour or do I have a mod mucking things up?

They're running away from the icecream truck driver/axe murderer.

They doing the 'Buy Ice Cream' animation while the Ice Cream Truck is 10 miles away. Seriously, the Truck is in front of the Town Hall, while my Sim bought it (doing the animation) near the Appaloosa Plains' Water Treatment Lot. -_-'

Yeah, I had one of my Sims do this and I was like 'wtf?' but I ended up being okay with it because he met his future wife where he went. :p Apparently he knows better than me.

I'm playing Riverview right now and the Sim bought an ice cream outside the theater which was just across the way from where he already was. He didn't run off to the park or anywhere else...he stepped away from the truck and stood there to eat it.

The Sim I was playing in AP did the same. No running anywhere...just sat down on a bench and had his ice cream in peace.

So far all of my Sims that have bought ice cream have eaten it on the spot.

I've been looking around the internet and apparently this only happens to certain games/neighborhoods/spots. It must be some sort of bug that we haven't found any pattern of a cause for. My active household is currently in Bridgeport and this happens every time, they get in a taxi and drive away to eat their icecream- it often crashes my game, too. (And yes, this is the only cause, I have tried my game with and without mods, with other family in new games, and my computer has never had a problem running sims before). The only explanation I've found for this is that someone assumed it was because there was no immediate seating where the sims bought icecream, but on my game there was, and they drive much further than the closest seating area to eat their ice-cream. . . so I'm lost here.
