The black spots in the Pets' eyes annoys me, so I thought I'd go make my own custom eyes for Pets. But looking through the eye files, none of them seemed to be the cause of the black spots. Am I missing something?

Pretty sure the black spots are done as a shader type thing - more of an effect than a texture. It may be possible by editing the effects stuffs, maybe with this? http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=446536

Oh okay, Thank you! I'll check that out.

You might also check the shader type in the eyeball mesh, using Delphy's SimGeomEditor from his small tools set. In the case of the sim eyeball mesh, if set to a SimSkin shader they lose their bright reflection.

Oh okay, well removing the effect of the eyes didn't work so maybe it's that. Thanks. :)

Well I opened the file but there isn't a shader selected, it's just blank. Or am I missing something? lol.

Most likely it's a new type of shader that came with Pets/patch 1.26, so it isn't defined in SimGeomEditor. You could open the mesh in Milkshape to get the actual shader number - it's in the mesh group comments; I think it's called "Special" or something like that. (I'm not home so can't check until a few days from now.) More to the point, you could try just using the SimGeomEditor to change the mesh shader to SimSkin or SimEyes or whatever and see what happens.

Did anyone ever get anywhere with this? I would really love a fix for those black spots, and am not yet capable of such achievements xD
