Help! IP address problem!!!

Ok so one of my friends isn't allowed to log on at the moment because of some "IP concerns" the site have with her computer.
She only has one user so is kinda stumped. She can't ask for help herself because she would have to log in to do so.
She has a dynamic IP router so her IP changes every time she turns it off and on again. We have already tried resetting the router but nothing is working.
Is there another way for her to log on, or contact the site moderators?

I gave up and ended up using a proxy site to make a new account instead of whining at my friend over it all the time. :P
It's better if I explain it anyway, since she isn't here with me and can only pass along the gist of my rambling.

Back to the issue at hand:
Without using a proxy, whenever I tried to register a new account it gave the message:
Too many registration attempts from the same IP address. Registration denied.I don't know what "too many" means in this case, but I only ever had one account here. Also, I'm 99% sure my IP has changed since then anyway... since I made that account something like a year ago. :p
I have had one or two IP issues on file-hosting sites in the past though so I can assume that's not an issue with the site itself, though obviously I don't know. The fix I used for those sites didn't work in this case, however.

The real problem here doesn't bring up an error message in itself - but when I try and log in to my other account, no matter what I try, on the very first attempt at logging in, I get told that I've failed the log in quota and I'm sent an email saying that my account has been locked for 15 minutes.

So then I try and reset my password - enter my username, email, DOB...
and even after 15 minutes later when my account isn't meant to be locked any more, I get this:

We couldn't reset your password automatically due to security concerns with your account. To reset your password via email click here: here

So THEN I try resetting it via email - requesting temporary password be sent to my email address and all, but every single time I've done this I get locked out again as I "fail the log in quota."
I'm copy-pasting the password directly from the email... so what the hell is going on? :S I've been trying to enter my account for the last hour or so. I can only hope the same thing won't happen to this account now.

I never posted on my old account so it was no big deal, but it's just frustrating to not be able to access it.

I just tried to access this account not using a proxy.
Guess the end result. :/ wtf.
I also found that I can log into my old account using a proxy too. So, does that mean my IP has been banned or something? What's up with that?

valamia, please note that it is not allowed to have more than one user account. Perhaps you can tell us the name of the other account so that we can merge them?

For the problem you're having, I too was having my account locked out on first attempt at logging in, with the message I had used my login attempt quota. I was then getting an email telling me the IP address of the computer which attempted to log in- and it was not my IP address. Did you get an email telling you of the account lock out, and if so- was the IP address yours?

I am aware that I'm only allowed one account - I just didn't think I had much of a choice at the time, since I didn't equate not being able to log in with the other issue - and it's impossible to contact anyone here directly without an account as far as I can see. Sorry. ^^
My old account was kleptomaniac - would it be okay if I kept that username instead of this one when you merge them?

I got the same error message on both accounts with the same IP address, and I failed the log in not 20 minutes after I made this account, though, so...

This happened to me to. Couldn't log in yesterday, got the same error of my login attempts being over the quota. When I tried making a new account got the same message of too many attempts by my IP address. I tried to reset my password several times last night and each time I tried to enter the password given to me by mod the Sims I got a wrong password or user name and told to wait another 15 mins. Eventually managed to get signed in last night after a few hours freaking out that my account had been hacked, changed my password and email address as a precaution and partly because I had been meaning to anyway. Then today got the same problem all over again. I have only just managed to sign in after resetting my password. I also didn't recognise the IP address that the mod the Sims emails sad had tried to access my account to many times. Not sure what’s going on but it is strange.

i'm having the same problem. resetting my password a couple of times . everytime i tried to log in i got the same mail as the people above. i never had this before.

Same issue here. nene.modthesims works, modthesims does not. Someone else has attempted to access my account and it is now locked from logging in.

I don't usually use the forums but I have also been having this problem and I wanted to thank you for posting that link as it's still the only way I can log into this website.

I really hope they sort this out soon because there must be loads of others who can't log in and have no way of reporting the problem.

I have also had the same problem. It all started on Friday evening for me. The received mails regarding the lock outs and the IP addresses they mention are not mine. I tried the link provided and I have logged in now so thank you for the link.

Im having the exact problem! Failed log in, IP address thats not mine, and reset my password yesterday and today i couldnt log back in till i used the nen.modthesims.info.

Ive even blocked the IP address and still no such luck! I wonder if everyones getting the same IP address?

Hope its fixed soon, poor people must be thinking, "oh no i must have got my password wrong too many times without noticing" like me here till i found out.

i've just had this very same problem and now im using the "nene" version and logged in without any problems. in e-mail i got also had an ip address that i didn't recognised. so i searched it on ip adress sites and found out it's from urugry and is known to be a "comment spammer" and a "spider". fankfully it didn't know my password. ;)

Thats weird, mines from San fransico, gives the name and everything. Same IP address twice. Weird :|

I had the same issue yesterday and it's the same today, thankfully I can log in with the alternative address no problem. I was really worried about loosing my account and not being able to download all the awesome things created by other users here, I'm so glad I saw this thread because I'd still think I was locked out otherwise!

The same issue here.
Attempt to login through modthesims.info fails with following symptoms :
- message about "exced failed login quota, wait 15 minutes" but cant login even after many hours.
- i have reset password 5 times - it does not help.
- i have received email "Account on Mod The Sims locked out"
"The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" which is not my IP ofcourse.
- login throught nene.modthesims.info hopefuly succeded.

Hrm looks like something might be going on with the strikes system (the part of code that detects if somebody has logged into a particular account from a particular IP address). It's also possible that something changed upstream (ie with the CDN) so that it no longer detects the correct origin IP address and instead uses another, cached one.

The only way I can log in is still via the link whiterider posted, thanks for that by the way :), it’s so strange about the IP; the one I received in emails is also apparently located in Switzerland according to www.ip-adress.com.

pixie, can you try and login again on www? I'm not seeing any strikes against your username at all in the database. Better still, come on the live chat so I can diagnose the issues in real time.

I'm able to login with a number of test accounts perfectly OK on www so it has to be something strange going on with certain accounts.

Ok Delphy I’ll come on live chat :) I did try again to log in with the www. But no luck unfortunately, which chat should I go on? Social or create? Sorry if it's a newb question I don't often use chat options on sites. EDIT: I just looked into going on the social live chat on here and my PC security wouldn't let me, I had two windows pop up, which I include a screen shot of the second window. 2#EDIT: I just tried logging into MTS with the www. And it worked as it has done previous nights, fingers crossed it will continue to work and not kick me off or give me an error. I'll keep you all posted.
