Wait, so you do not want to make new food; you simply want to create a decorative object that uses the mesh and textures of food, correct?
If so, I would recommend you start with the Sims 2 Start to Finish Object Creation Tutorial (http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=104795&page=1) (use whichever program you like --- Wings3D and Blender are free). Follow the tutorial and make the table. This will show you how to assign new GUIDs and extract/import meshes and textures using SimPE.
Once you are familiar with the object creation process, clone a decorative object that would be the closest to what you want in terms of characteristics (e.g. you may want to choose the bowl of fruit because that is a small sculpture that can fit into surfaces and is relatively cheap in price). You could probably just make a temporary clone of the food you want to use. Then once you have extracted the mesh and textures from the cloned food .package file, you can delete it. Replace the mesh and texture of the cloned decorative object with the extract mesh and texture.
