Summer sat at the desk in the den, writing. Her eyes drooped tiredly. Just one more page. she thought as she let out a giant yawn. Paper rustled as she turned the page in the official looking notebook. Summer let out a loud, long sigh, Paperwork... So much paper work.
The front door creaking open startled Summer, breaking her concentration, "I'm home!" a familiar voice called out from the entry way.
There was a loud thump from above and a quiet beeping as one of the alarms turned on. There was the sound of heels clicking on the wood floor, heading toward the den.
Summer quickly snatched up the gun that had been laying on the desk and shoved it down the back of her pants, "Spring!" she gasped and quickly turned around as the younger girl walked into the room, "You're home early!"
"Not really. Classes got out late... I hate night classes. Why are you up so late?" she asked and eyed the desk suspiciously.
That was the problem with Spring, she always needed to know things that were none of her concern.
"Ohhhh, nothing, just some paperwork for work." which wasn't a lie, thank goodness.
"Oh, okay." Spring yawned. Summer could tell that Spring didn't entirely believe her half-truth. "Where are the girls?"
"I think they went to bed about an hour ago." Now that, was a lie.
Spring looked disappointed and a little skeptical, "Oh well, I guess I should do to bed too. I have tons of home work that I should to get done tomorrow and need a good night's sleep." she headed for the stairs. About half way up she called over her shoulder, "Night!"
"Night, Sis!" Summer called back. Once she knew Spring was out of sight, she pulled the gun out, "I really need to be more careful." she whispered before locking the gun in a desk drawer.
Spring got ready for bed quickly, all the while she was thinking about what had gone on down stairs. I think she's keeping something from me. she thought as she collapsed into bed, not even bothering to cover up, Oh well, I'll think about it tomorrow. She wasn't overly worried about it, she knew she would figure it out soon enough, whatever it was.
Autumn -Spring's sister- was already asleep, her even breathing soon lulled Spring to sleep as well.
Autumn had been asleep, or so Spring had thought. She had really been wide awake the whole time, waiting for her younger sister to fall asleep, "Took you long enough," she muttered once she knew her Spring was fast asleep.
Autumn jumped from bed as quietly as she could, wincing when her bed creaked, then hurriedly made her way down stairs.
"Summer?"
"What?" Summer answered grumpily from the desk.
"We need to talk."
"Yeah we do!" Both girls jumped not having realized a third person was in the room.
"Winter! You really need to stop doing that!" Summer scolded gently.
"It's not my fault you guys don't pay attention." Winter muttered, slightly annoyed.
"Come on guys, we need to talk. Now." Autumn said again and led the way into the sitting room, the others following closely behind.
"Okay, what is it?" Summer sighed as she plopped down on one of the chairs.
"When we agreed to let Spring stay here after mom and dad died, I didn't think it was going to be so hard to keep," Autumn paused, "You-know-what from her."
"Yeah!" Winter agreed, "Tonight when she came home, I was in the armor- she could have caught me!"
"But she didn't."
"Summer, this is serious! I think we should tell her!"
Summer's eyes grew cold, "We are not going to tell her. Keeping this from her is for her own good. This is the last time I want to hear about us telling Spring, understand?" Summer said firmly.
"Summer-"
"That's it, Autumn! Go to bed!"
Winter looked highly amused by this, but Autumn was furious, "But-"
"To bed! Now!"
It was beautiful outside when Spring stepped out the front doors of the school there hadn't been a day that nice for a while. It seemed like winter was finally over. It was such a nice day that it wasn't any surprise that instead of paying the money for a cab ride home, Spring decided to walk.
"I'll see you all next week!" she called -over her shoulder- and waved good-bye to her friends. She didn't noticed the man across the street staring threateningly at her from behind a news paper.
The girls lived out a ways from town- about a fifty minute walk- in a quiet, country home, just off the beach.
Spring was nearly halfway home when she noticed she was being followed. At first she thought it was just another person out on a walk, but then, nobody walked this far from town if they didn't live out there... And wasn't that the same black Sedan that kept passing by? The street was never that busy.
Spring began to panic. Her heart started to beat wildly- as she thought of all the possibilities of why someone would be following her- and her palms began to sweat. What do I do? What do I do?! She thought, her mind clouded with fear. She gulped down a big breath of air, trying to clear her thoughts, I just need to get home, I'm almost there. Sort of. But Spring wasn't going to get home.
The man behind her advance quickly. Soon he was right behind her, she could feel his breath tickling the back of her neck. She tried to run, but it was no use, the man was to close. He wrapped his large, clammy hand over her mouth and push something cold, and against her back.
"Don't run." he said gruffly. Like she could anyway, the man was freakishly strong. He shoved the gun harder into her back.
But Spring didn't listen, having a gun to her back and an unknown man's hand over her mouth caused her to panic even more. She squirmed in his arms, trying to free herself from is iron grasp.
The man's gripped tightened, "I told you not to run." There was a small pop for the gun's trigger, then a sharp pain formed in Springs spine.
You would think getting shot would be more painful, Spring though calmly- almost to calmly- as everything went black.
Spring awoke later to finder herself in a room that was black as pitch. She groaned as she sat up, her spine still stinging from where the bullet had bruised her., "It must have been a tranquilizer gun."
Spring wanted to screamed for help, but she already knew it would do no good. Screaming only worked in the movies. Instead she busied herself with searching the room. If there was any way out of the room from the inside looking for (More like feeling since the room was so dark she couldn't see) a way out was better than sitting on the stone floor, hoping for a miracle.
She searched the room for quiet sometime, and found nothing. She sat back down on the floor, her back against the wall. Despair, that and fear, were the only feelings she had.
Spring sat on the cold floor for a while before the tears started to come, but when they came, they came with a vengeance. "Why is this happening?" she sobbed into her hands.
Summer sat at the desk, yet again, scribbling away at a document. The house was perfectly quiet. It was after noon and Spring hadn't awoken yet. She must have been extremely tired, because it wasn't like her to sleep so late, but Summer wasn't worried, she was never worried.
Ring
Summer ignored the phone and kept writing, one of the girls would answer it.
Ring
Summer groaned, she hated being interrupted while working. "Would someone answer that?" she yelled at her sisters, where ever they were.
Ring... Beep
"Too late..." she muttered angrily.
"Hello, Ladies." a distinctly male voice sounded over the answering machine. Summer's ears pricked at the sound of the voice. She knew that voice, she had heard it before. "I was very sad indeed, when you didn't accept my previous offer for the package." he made a small tisking sound with his tongue, then continued brightly, "I have a new offer for you, however. I have taken things a step further, I hope you don't mind,"he chuckled darkly. There was a long pause, so long that Summer thought he had hung up. Finally the man's giddy voice continued on, "I have your sister, Spring. If you want her back, bring me the package- you know where to find me. You have twenty-four hours to respond before your sister dies. Have a nice day, Ladies."
The machine clicked off. He has Spring? How she's home? Summer thought, then it hit her. Spring wasn't home, she had been at the University, it was a class day.
It's not the best, but hey...
It was supposed to be a sims story, but my sims weren't letting me take nice pictures sooooo, yeah. Oh and this is only part of one chapter.
Edit: Boooooo the indents didn't work! Ohhh well, I'm not going back through that whole thing to fix them.
