I have all the expansion packs installed to my mac. I have tried installing it many times but Ambitions just stops on file 7 out of 654 every time. I checked the disc but I don't see any major scratches and I washed it like the instructions on this site tell me too. But it's still stuck. I'm not sure what to do if there's and origin for mac I could no-disc install it, but I don't understand how to install the Local Image of the disc from this sites guide and I'm not sure if applies to macs too. It might be the disc because the computer sounds great until it reached that file then it slowed down and is making a rhythmical noise. :) Thanks for reading this!

What is file 7? Is it patching?
Have you patched the game (to current base game version) first manually (or via Launcher), before installing Ambitions or you letting Ambitions patch (to 1.12) from the DVD?
Current base game versions are documented in Game Help:Patch_Table.
Did you do these steps when you uninstalled (if you had followed our Uninstall guide)? You can do these steps anytime to reset files to "factory settings", other than using New Sims 3 User folders.
delete preferences
/Users/<Username>/Library/Preferences/The Sims 3 Preferences folder
delete caches:
<diskname>/Library/Caches/<anything with Sims 3 in it>
/Users/<Username>/Library/Caches/<anything with Sims 3 in it>
repair permissions
/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility, "Repair Permissions"
Did you restart the machine after all that? Sometimes it helps to force resources to get unlocked and removed properly from memory.
For some reason, USB peripherals also can screw up DVD access. So I suggest unplugging any USB device that has a data drive: iPhone, iPod
To do a local copy install just means you copy the contents of the DVD onto a temporary folder on the Mac, then install the game from that local folder instead of the DVD. If Finder can do the copy+paste, means there's some issue with the game Installer reading the disc during the installation process.
