View Full Version : Strange things my Sims do

Recently, one of my male young adult Sims has started going to bed and "sleeping until fully rested" all the time. He does this at random times during the day, regardless of where his energy meter is. Several times it would be very close to full, early in the morning or afternoon, and he would still go to sleep; so I would wake him up.
Another Sim's (female) energy and hygiene meters got stuck and would not go down or up at all. They were almost full, then ONLY those two meters froze. Even restarting my game did not unfreeze them.
Then another Sim (I already posted about) would randomly go point and laugh at her husband. She did this throughout the day, and would even wake in the night to do it.
Also, the Sims in the house I am playing with right now never do the laundry, if I only click to make them do it once. They will get about halfway to the washer with the clothes in hand, then stop and drop them on the floor. If I do reclick "do laundry" the will just forget it and do something else.
Does anyone else's Sims do strange things like this?

I had a cat give birth to triplets in my game and my sim started to drop everything to celebrate - holding up a Sasquatch protest sign, throwing confetti, cheering randomly, holding a balloon . . . sigh.

It's good to know that my Sims are not the only weirdos out there! :D
When I first got TS2 Pets, I had a pair of dogs that would NOT eat anything except from the garbage. I tried regular pet food and even put leftovers on the floor, but the wouldn't touch it. They preferred garbage, which seemed to make them sick.
More than once they would be en route to taking the garbage out, or throwing something away (in TS3), then about half way there, they would just drop the garbage on the ground and go do something else. It would lay there until either I noticed it, or another Sims would throw it away.

Recently, one of my male young adult Sims has started going to bed and "sleeping until fully rested" all the time. He does this at random times during the day...I have a geeky question. When this Sim goes to sleep mid-day, so that his energy level is pretty high, would "until fully rested" be just a short time? (Supposing you didn't wake him, I mean.)
In other words, you know that there's some kind of glitch affecting the onset of sleep in your Sim. I'm wondering if the end of sleep is still regulated properly. This is a crucial point if one hopes to develop a model of narcolepsy in Sims.

I'm wondering if the "sleep until rested" all the time came with one of the new patches. Because I don't remember my sims doing it before. But now it seems whenever they choose their own thing to do, sleep is the first or second thing they will always pick.

I've been getting the sleep until rested thing since installing Showtime but it only seems to effect my Sim's wife. I figured she was just catching quick naps whenever she could while the triplets were occupied.
I get the never doing laundry thing in other households. Whenever I visit my mother's house there's always a pile of clothes right when you get to the door. I'm guessing a result of them spinning out of their work clothes and there being no basket in the living room. But no one in the house ever seems to bother picking it up. They'll complain about it but they won't pick it up on their own.

Does the husband have the loser trait by any chance?

The husband didn't have the loser trait. I have no idea what caused his wife to randomly point and laugh at him. I believe his traits were Athletic, Genius, Family Oriented, Lucky, and Great Kisser.
Yes, if I didn't wake the other guy, the "sleep until full rested" would have been for a very short time when his energy level was high. I have recently just had to completely reinstall all of TS3 (up to LN), and I haven't downloaded any patches lately. However, it does say my game is up to date.
Another Sim has started randomly pointing at her husband and laughing. I had the same Sim go into to the bathroom to get the dirty laundry while her husband was in the shower, after going in she stopped what she was doing to point and cheer.
One time a Sim was getting a call on her house phone, she didn't answer it in time. The bubble thing that popped up then said that her little brother had starved to death. When I checked her relationship panel, he was no longer there.
