I'm having a problem installing custom content. When I download and extract the file, the .package files are showing up as a blank piece of paper instead of having the Sims 3 Launcher symbol. Any idea what is going on? This has never happened before.

The image used by the .package files is irrelevant - they can have any image at all, including a blank piece of paper, and still work fine in your game. They're not recognized by the Launcher anyway. What matters is that they're installed to the correct location, with the right Resource.cfg in the right place. If you use the FrameworkSetup.zip provided here: Game Help:Installing Sims 3 Package Files and set it up properly according to the instructions (double check with the pictures!), then your .package files will work fine in your game, no matter what image they use.
