Hello everyone!

To keep it simple and sweet, I'm trying to convert the outfit Lacey Retreat Romper (http://store.thesims3.com/productDetail.html?productId=OFB-SIM3:38582&categoryId=11584&scategoryId=11870&pcategoryId=11867&ppcategoryId=11866&gender=female) from TS3 store into just the top, as just a top!

Now, using CTU I extracted the 3 meshes, edited them with milkshape, and exported them again.

and that is about where everything confuses me... I can't for the life of me get the mesh to actually take effect! As well I edited the textures and stuff to 'hopefully' not include the bottom half but, really I have no idea what I'm doing.

Could anyone perhaps help me? I'm not computer-handicap or anything, just new to meshing!

What do you mean "take effect", is it not showing in game, or in CTU?

Also, you can't just take a full body outfit and chop off the legs. You'll probably need to make sure the mesh fits into normal pants properly. And, you'll need to still make morphs for the mesh.

It's not showing up in CTU, I can't even get it into the game because it won't allow me to save anything with a custom mesh without giving me an error unfortunately.

Yes I had thought that I'd reach some sort of an issue like that... I'm not even remotely sure how to make morphs for the mesh! I suppose that shall come later.

Would it be easier, instead of just attempting to do a top, to attach the top onto the bottoms I have in mind? ... it sounds harder lol.

it would be the same, even hard. :)
I suggest you have a look at the tutorials on how to create custom clothing.
I can write down wat your doing wrong but it is all there already.
