View Full Version : After patching and installing pets/showtime expansions, my game wont load!

After installing Custom Content and the Showtime Expansion pack, my game won't load anymore. It doesn't crash, and there is NO black screen like I have been reading about. Instead, the screen is the typical "Sims 3 Showtime Expansion Pack" image with the loading bar which is grey, issue is that the loading bar never fills up with the green, it's just empty. The mouse/cursor is a rotating blue swirlygig that just keeps rotating and spinning like it's trying to load.

Upon starting the game, I get the "custom content may cause errors or crashes because some may be out of date," or whatever, but I had that before I installed showtime/pets and everything worked wonderfully... Do these expansions render all custom content useless? Is there a way to fix this? I just want it to load and I don't mind "risking the bugs and crashes" but it just sits there.

Been staring at the screen over an hour with no movement on the loading bar.

Please help me!! ~ :) Thank you so much :lovestruc

ALSO - wanted to add I am getting the "Unofficial Modification Error" however I have updated versions of all mods that I use, I deleted the cache files for old mods, I tried reinstalling the base game and patching it before installing the new expansions I got - I also am playing WITH a disc and so reading your FAQ I think the game is just being stupid for no reason and deciding not to load, so just wondering what I can do to get it to load up :(

Please go through this FAQ and follow the instructions, doing each step in order and not skipping anything:

Most issues with the game can be resolved by following those steps.

Sims 3 - Installing / Patching / Uninstalling
Whether you are Installing for the first time or Reinstalling, be sure to read the Game Help:Install FAQ.
-
This Game_Help:TS3_Uninstall link has the step-by-step instructions to guide you through uninstalling The Sims 3,
and its (EP/SP) packs. As well as removing any leftovers after uninstalling.

Invalid File Errors and more

Did you do all the steps in that Game Problems FAQ, then? And still get the "Unofficial Modification Error"?

If on vanilla settings, the loading green bar stalls and never progresses, that means the Showtime install is corrupt/incomplete/whatever. You'd need to uninstall Showtime and reinstall. If that didn't work either, then uninstall both Showtime and the base game. And then patch the base game as in Q&A for "Issues with 1.3x Superpatcher" wiki FAQ, before reinstalling Showtime.

Thanks so much for your help! I just ended up deleting my original Sims 1 copy and reinstalling it, used the Superpatcher, ( I left my other EPs installed.) After that, the game would launch but get stuck on the Neighborhood loading screen so I uninstalled reinstalled Showtime, and for whatever reason it happened to fix the issue altogether. :D
