View Full Version : Custom Worlds not showing in Showtime

(First I'd like to point out, why do the "Categories" for posting new threads here only go up to "EP 4: Generations"? I'm having a problem with Showtime, but there is no option for that...)
To my main problem... I enjoy making custom worlds for my game, and I've never had a problem making new neighborhoods with them before. But now, after installing Showtime, when I go to make a new neighborhood, none of my custom worlds are available. I haven't moved them. Does Showtime put them in a new spot that I'm unaware of?
I know the drill with troubleshooting. My game is patched and up to date. I even took out all my mods and custom content (aside from installed worlds) and I still have this issue. I searched online and the only similar issues I could find were general cc issues, but the solutions for those were mod-related. What could be causing this? I spend a lot of time making my custom worlds, I want to be able to access them!
Here are the worlds that I normally have. All of them except "Anotherworld1" (which I just made this week) have been played in my game before:

However, when I upload the game and go to make a new neighborhood, these are the only options it allows me:

The most likely cause is that your DCCache is corrupted. The game requires the world files to be installed and a reference to them in the DCCache, but unfortunately this seems to be very susceptible to breaking.

Nooo! It's still not working. :( I did notice a change, though. In the Launcher, before I did all that, the worlds were considered "Objects". They are now (properly) labeled "Worlds"... Though I still can't make a new world using them. Any other ideas?

So you deleted your DCCache files, and reinstalled from Launcher and they still do not work? Can you install other Sims3Packs, or is it just those that you have a problem with?

Exactly. Only my world files seem to be having this problem. Like most people on here, I have a lot of downloads, so it's possible some are missing. But the objects/hairs/clothes/etc. that I use the most often (and thus remember) are definitely showing up.

Ah, sorry. I hope you don't mind I was logged into my original account (just got it back. I'm going to continue using this one from now on.)

psycho_katie, you may NOT have more than one account here. That is against the forum rules and is a bannable offence. Please read the forum rules so that you know what is allowed here.
For your problem, did you also delete the DCBackup folder? If not, try that now.
Another test you can try for me is to drag Documents\ Electronic Arts\ The Sims 3 to the desktop. Now open Launcher so that new user files are created. Close Launcher and copy your world Sims3Pack files into Downloads. Open Launcher and install them, a few at a time. Do they show up in-game?
Please post your gameversions also for all Es and Sps.

I had this account originally. Then there was a huge site-wide crash that disabled many accounts. I couldn't access this one, which is why I made the other one. Just this week, I managed to bring this one back. I didn't intend on having two accounts, but if I hadn't made a new one, I wouldn't have been able to be on this site at all for several years. I'm sorry, I will get rid of the other account. I just think the circumstance is understandable.
EDIT: Okay, so I can't actively delete that account. According to the Site Questions and Issues page I'll need to delete all posts it ever made first. Since I made this thread with that account, I'll delete it after this issue gets resolved. I don't intend to go back to that account for any other reason, anyway.
As to the issue at hand, I did as you said and gave the game a fresh start, but the worlds still aren't showing up! Here are my game versions-
Base game: 12.0.273.015001
World Adventures: 2.7.7.006001
High-End Loft Stuff: 3.0.38.004017
Ambitions: 4.3.4.008001
Late Night: 6.2.4.010001
Outdoor Living Stuff: 7.0.55.010001
Generations: 8.0.152.011001
Pets: 10.0.96.013001
Showtime: 12.0.273.015001
I also launch through Origin (version 8.5.2.23 - 151265), if that's any help.

What is your base game version? It looks like you've made a typo -- it should start 1.x.

That's okay, no worries- if you could stick to the one account then we'll try to merge the old one into it. :)
Some of your EPs are not fully patched. It shouldn't make any difference for playing worlds to have outdated EPs, but you might want to patch them anyway, since CAW is much more stable with a fully patched game for creating worlds.
For your problem, it seems as though Launcher isn't installing the worlds correctly. Your basegame version is showing the Showtime figures, so just check that you have the latest update (1.33.2).
You are launching through Origin because of the Origin Stuff pack you have? Can you launch from the basegame executable or do you have to play through Origin?

Sorry for the delay. I haven't had much time to play the game in a while. Anyway, I'm assuming I can patch my EPs from the EA website? I'll try that.
As to my base game updates... odd. My launcher says I'm up to date. It has a clickable spot that says "Sims3_1.34.27.016001_from_1.33.2.015001.exe ... but it's above the box that normally includes updates, and the "Update Now" box is greyed out. I haven't noticed that before.
As to launching without using Origin, I just tried. I am able to, but my custom worlds still don't show!

I did not. Bottom-left corner says "Version 12.0.273.015001" ... unless I'm looking in the wrong spot?

If you put mouse over the diffrent icons at the left bottom of launcher it will show the patch level of that.
EP/SP's won't get updated from launcher any more, if one wanto update them one have to find them from other places, there is a website that have all updates but i can't remember the adress, you can use The Sims 3 Patch Downloader (http://linna.modthesims.info/download.php?t=409829) though like simsample wrote it shouldn't be needed any more (hence why they're not availible from EA any more) but some things, especially worlds can't be installed unless games are on the same patch-level or higher as the creator had when making them, launcher will just throw a error message that you need to update your game.

Tried it. All my games should be updated fully now, but I still don't have any custom world options.

Since you tried the clear "user data" option which most times fix if there is something wrong there.
Looks like only option is to uninstall/reinstall everything, since problem can be in the game-files, which is harder to locate.
Maybe try clear "user data" one more time first, and make sure the folder is moved not copied or simply just rename it instead.
