Forest cat?

A cat wandered onto my Sim's yard, you know how if you scroll over cats, they'll usually say "Stray Cat" or the like? This cat's title was "Forest Cat". I found that although becoming BFFs with the cat, I cannot adopt it. I'm playing in Hidden Springs, by the way. So now I'm curious if anyone else has ran into these "Forest Cats".

This dog showed up in my current SunsetValley game, moved in by story prog to the Single Moms household; the dog is named Moody Little Dog.
