this has happened twice now and its kind of annoying.

after my sim has a baby, the game crashes and says something about debugging and asks yes or no.

what could cause this to happen?!

i'm running the most updated game (i think, i haven't installed any patches though) and i have the base game + ambitions and pets. i'm also running it on a mac.

Try going through the Game Problem FAQ (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Sims_3_Game_Problem).

To find out what version you're on, hover over the base game icon in the launcher. Current is 1.33.

i'll check that out, thanks.

i feel EXTREMELY stupid, but whenever i hover over the icon it just says "the sims 3." however it says my version is 10.0.96.015017. I don't know if that means much of anything though.

10.x is the version of the expansion pack, but the version that really matters is the base game one.

The icon you need to hover over is in the bottom left of the launcher. There are other ways to find out, too, see here (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Patching_Find_Gameversion).

Game icons in Mac Launcher does not have the hover thingie (because they don't read the skuversion.txt), the game name would appear, but not the version. You'd need to check via the VersionTag method or the info.plist method - Game Help:TS3_Patching Find Gameversion

(If the OP is running on a Mac, why is this thread still in the Windows section? I can understand getting lost and posting in the spot that looks most like where it might need to go, but shouldn't someone have moved it by now?)

Okay, so I checked the Version.tag and it said I'm running 1.33.2.015001.

Does this mean I have the 1.33 patch or whatever?

And I apologize about having this in the Windows forum...I'm kind of a noob at this thing. /le sigh

( Aha! Someone is paying attention! Well, if you must know, I just noticed the tab was still opened right there, and waiting for my input. ;) ps: Thanks, simsample. )

Yes, @rarrrhannah, do the FAQ. And if you meant the Exception Raised debugging error, than this is a common issue on Macs for sometime. We have a few threads here on the Macs side if you just browse through these couple pages, and read some suggestions in those threads. But, essentially, no one has pinpointed a root cause, and so no one knows of a solution, yet.
