Hey so I'm wondering when creating meshes, would it be possible to copy 3d models from other games, and then rescale them into objects in the sims?
For example, copying models like columns, objects, and then remeshing them into the game.
Is this even possible?

Yes, it's possible. For TS3, you may need to do some pretty extensive editing to the UV (texture) mapping so that you can use patterns on them correctly, though. And if you'd like to distribute the final product (like put it up on MTS or another site), you need permission from the game company to do it.

Yes, it can be done, depending upon the game. The problem is, not only do you have to understand object creation for the sims, but the game you are converting from as well. Many games ( eg. Farm Simulator) are "one way.". That is, while they have tool kits which allow you to convert objects TO their game, those kits do not permit conversion FROM their game. Also, most games have their own proprietary format for their models.
A few games have very active modding communities which may have developed their own tools for model conversion. Grand Theft Auto comes immediately to mind. But most modding communities are no where as advanced as The Sims 3 community ( due in large part to sites like this one). The only modding community which seems to be more advanced than the Sims community is the flight-simmers -- and they are light years ahead of us.
You really need to find a "Rosetta Stone" type program which allows you to convert from the source format to The Sims, or , more likely, to a standard format. You best bet for this is going to be Milkshape. If Milkshape does not support the source format, you may be in for a very long search for something which does not exist.
But think of a conversion of something simple, like from Sketchup to the Sims. It can be done, but it is not easy. (Since the TOU in the Google Warehouse are pretty liberal, one should not have many IP concerns. Most of this stuff is in the public domain.)
Most of the time, it simply is easier to make an item from scratch. This also helps avoid IP problems.

Thanks!
I've also noticed that some people create mods for games,
if they create models out of scratch, would it be possible to transfer it to milkshape? B.T.W. Is milkshape the only 3d program for the sims 3?

Blender also has addons that will directly transfer files from s3pe allowing you to edit mesh, rig, footprint, and .dds images for the game. Those are in the downloads section here in Programs and Utilities.
If you don't use either of those you can still use your editor of choice as long as it can import and export .obj. If you go this route you'll have to use Blender or Milkshape as a bridge because joints for the object will have to be assigned in one or the other of those before importing back into your .package.

Okay, but I don't think I could use S3PE on a mac, would I be able to create a mesh using blender and then exporting it as a sims file?

no, that is not possible.
No idea if TSRW runs on a MAC but a popular combo is Wings 3d and TSRW.
