They are actually quite cute. And they don't look like a larva, larvae don't have arms! :!:

I think they're cute, I just wish they didn't have that wrap thing around them all the time, especially when they get picked up and played with. Then it just looks odd.

I wish they had legs and didn't look so generic.

My only wish is that they didn't all have exactly the same face. Other than that, I'm perfectly happy with my little larvae.

Now that they have the fixed scalp, who cares what they're wrapped in, they have FIXED SCALPS! :D

Yeah, I'd like them to be able to have legs and at least be able to scoot around like a real baby. And seriously, the only thing that changes about them is the skintone.

I personally don't care. I'm too busy scratching my hipped hop, yo. Word. *shakes cane*

TS3 babies only bother me because the TS2 babies were so much more detailed. Different eye colours, eye brows, limbs.... Change tables, baths, vomit.
Sims 3 babies are a step backwards in their realism and that's why they're bothersome to me.

I'd prefer that they were more like the Sims 2 babies, but I can't say it bothers me much. My sims are only usually babies long enough to have their picture taken and fed a birthday cake.

I don't mind the look of the babies so much but I do hate that they all look the same aside from skintone, and that they're always wrapped in those bloody blankets. It's not a huge deal to me but I do wish they were more like the TS2 babies. What I DO very much hate, however, is that there are no changing tables or bathing. That really bothers me.

My babies are set to just one day since I hate them (in the game), so I could care less what they look like. Though I guess they don't look that bad, even if they are all clones of one another as others have pointed out.

They could make them look like a gummi bear and I'd still set their age span to one day because they are boring.

It creeps me out that they just lay there in their crib staring at nothing for hours. I wish they'd put out their hands and play with them, like they do with the little swing. If I saw a baby doing just lying around like that IRL, I'd assume massive brain damage was the culprit. Even newborns a few hours old will wave their hands around and DO stuff now and then.

The only thing I hate about them is the fact there are only 3~4 interactions, and nothing else.

That, and the fact they don't look like their parents in this phase, forcing you to wait a while for them to grow up and finally show some resemblance to them.

I don't like babies, esp. crying babies, esp. naked crying babies, hit the disagree button as much as you want here, I don't mind, but I LIKE the fact that the babies are wrapped all the time, it is much beter than seeing them jerking their bare frog legs, and as for the babies "looking so generic", well, babies do look identica, or almost identical, and always fugly. I can't get it why parents try to find out whom the babies look like right after they're born. Heck, they don't resemble anyone at that stage, they're all the same! Their individuality strats showing, when they turn into toddlers. At this stage, they also stop being that adversive, but still, they're terrible brats that create too much fuss and mess around them. (I'm speaking about real life toddlers here).

They aren't infants long enough in my game for me to care. If kids in general had more interactions I would increase the life stages, but they don't, so all my kids have rapid growth spells to reach teenager!

This. Babies require stimulation outside of watching the ceiling. Besides, I've never seen a baby irl that just lays in their crib for HOURS without screaming and crying for attention. Caring for babies is demanding work, and it's just not portrayed very accurately in the game. I'd love to see more baby-related interactions, like being able to rock them in a chair or warm up a bottle or use a changing table. (The magic diaper "toss" is laughable.)

...Though really, the little beady eyed larvae just creep me out. *shudders*

Like Cameranutz2, my infants aren't don't stay infants in my game long enough for me to care. They're in that life stage for 3 days at the most. Time enough to get them home from hospital, have family and friends visit and coo over the baby, take pics then I age them up. If they had TS2 baby interactions then they might stay babies for about a full week before I age them up. I miss the changing tables and being able to bathe them.

TS3 really should have the changing table from TS2.

At least they are better than the babies from Sims 1.

I remember thinking it was going to be fun to have selectable babies. While it -is- nice to see the baby's personality, and get a little bit of warning before they start screaming that they need to be cuddled again, it would be even nicer if the baby had more to do. You can read to a baby in real life just as well as to a toddler. You can sing to a baby (an interaction which got lost after Sims 1.) You can take a baby with you when you go to the park or to church. There is a lot more to do with a real baby than tickle, change diaper, cuddle, or feed it. I don't mind the look as much as I mind the hint that Sims 3 babies would actually be interesting, and then discovering that they are just as underdeveloped as they ever were.

So I'm another one who assumes that the day after the baby comes home wrapped in a blanket it spends a day resting, and then grows up into a -real- baby.

I don't like them because they do this sometimes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wenxGmeeZ9M

WHY. EA, babies are not cars, they are babies - They also have legs, and move. EA does not understand the concept of babies.

As much as it was more realistic, I do NOT miss the changing table, nor the diapers and bottles all over the floor that the sims would all refuse to clean up.

I'm big on babies in real life, and that love has carried over to simulation babies. In the Sims 2 my sims were always pregnant, just so I could take care of the babies and toddlers over and over again. But babies in the Sims 3 are so BORING. And they all look the same, no matter HOW the parents look. In real life, I can usually look at a baby and select it's parents out of a group of people. But these babies are all the same, and they're all ugly.

I think they're cute. I do wish they didn't all look the same, with the exception of skin tone.

I don't like the blanket-thing around them constantly, it looks really stupid whilst taking them for a stroll in the stroller.

I just wanted to say that I don't think it would be too much work to have the little babies babble and coo and wave their hands around while they were awake in the game. I would feel much less creeped out. But the idea that they just lie there staring at the ceiling... eww.

I also don't like that they have the baby swing set up that you can leave them in their for several days and never take them out. I know it's just a silly game, but container baby syndrome (babies who get left in their swings, cribs, boppy chairs, car seats or other containers so long that their heads are actually deformed and they are developmentally delayed) is real and I don't like that the game endorses baby containers to the point that you can toss a baby in a container and never take them out until they are children if you don't want to.

@Kewpie. I find that quite worrying :| My mum's friend's baby is always in her swing :/ She does crawl around now and then but she leaves her in there for hours :| I may send her that link now :|

I just wished that their faces looked different. And it was easier to make good looking babies that actually look good when they grow up.

Other than than I don't mind. I don't mind pudding faces either.

itsamariokart - I put my own daughter in a swing for quite a bit of time. Most parents put the kids in those swings and stuff for when company comes over or when there are chores. When they have container baby syndrome you can tell because they are very placid and non-curious at an age where they should be looking around and wanting to move, and you can actually SEE the flat head. I bet your friend doesn't put her in as much as you think she does. The people I know who had babies with container syndrome had triplets and they couldn't physically hold the babies as much as they wanted to. The triplets were also preemies so spent several weeks in NICU and got flat heads from that - but when a baby needs ICU containering is usually the least of their problems. The kids had special helmets on their heads for a year and it cured the container head and they are now developmentally normal.

You can put them in a baby swing that you can get from the website

Babies don't do anything on the sims 3? What is this? My sims current baby has a preference for salsa music, can actively distinguish the difference between salsa and pop, can appreciate the fact that the sims lot is a 'Beautiful Vista' lot, AND enjoyed watching a game at the local stadium! Ha.

I agree- The sims 2 babies were not only more realistic but more functional. You could bathe them in the sink and if I remember correctly they actually had more interactions. I also personally liked not being able to see their needs, it added a bit of challenge.

I think they look just fine. I don't really know about the differences between babies in TS2 and TS3 though, since my wife in TS2 died before she's able to give a birth to the baby :( and I was like 12 years old or something when that happened

For some reason, I like the baby blankets (just figured out you can customize them through MasterController). I always thought the plain diaper outfit in TS2 looked so cold. At least TS3 babies are warm and snuggly! But I do wish they had some physical variance (seriously, what's with the eye color?), and had more options to interact. In any case, I have the life stage set to four days, so they're never around very long, anyway.

Purplepaws, if you save the new blanket configurations in CAS that you make using Master Controller, there's a chance when a new baby is born they'll have a random colour instead of the blue = boy, pink = girl default (I've got it set up so they have a rainbow of colours available and I've seen babies come out of the hospital in red, green and yellow blankets in addition to blue and pink).

They're kind of cute... But eh. I don't like aging sims up before their birthday so I have it set to two days for infants.
I definitely prefer the babies in TS2 but I don't really mind the ones in TS3 too much. I just wish they'd move. Babies move. They do not lay in their crib all day staring at the ceiling until they are a few years old. I'm guessing no one at EA has children?
They look like little worms. xD

Cool, thanks for telling me! I did save a nice pale lilac blanket but haven't witnessed any births since, so I had no idea. Now I'm going to have to make more!

I age my little babies up after a day or two, so it makes no difference to me how they look... I am glad they fixed their heads, though...

Yup. I do wish the TS3 babies moved around a little bit, though.

I also wish that they would look like the sims2 babies and have the interactions those babies have. I solved they diaper only problem by downloading some of the cute PJ's for babies that modders had created.

Funnily, even as a pro-Sims 2 person, I don't dislike the look of Sims 3 babies. Their faces look cute to me.

It is the look of the Sims 3 toddlers and children that I just can't stand. They're hideous in my opinion. The sad and depressed face which follows you, when you make them selectable and try to click on something else makes it even worse.
