Hey, this is Kristy here :)
I have just signed up to Modthesims tonight. I used to use it all the time (a few years ago) to download content for the Sims 2. I have installed the Sims 3 this afternoon and long story short I have tried with no success to get downloaded items to show in my game.
On The Sims 3 Game Launcher I fully updated everything and have version 1.33.2.015002 (this is what it means by updating the patch right?)
I downloaded WinRAR 64 bit version.
I then read and followed the document 'Installing Sims 3 Package Files: Setup and Files'.
I downloaded the FrameworkSetup.Zip to Documents/Electronic Arts/Sims 3 and then extracted it there.
Next I made a new folder called Sims3Content and saved a couple of downloaded items into this folder. I extracted them. The extracted items each have a little blank paper beside what the item is. Is that normal or should there be a picture instead?
I read through a few other things on here as well including CC Basics and Downloading for Downright Dunderheads and I don't know where I am going wrong lol.
I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit SP 1. Would I be better off using 7-Zip?
Thank you to anyone who can help...sorry to be a pain straight off lol.

The plain white paper icon is fine, so is WinRAR.
Do the two mods which came included with the FrameworkSetup.zip work? Nointro is the easiest one to check, because it stops the intro video playing when you start the game. :)

If by intro you mean the part where they are dancing around like idiots then I don't have it, I just get a black screen with a thin white border then it goes straight to loading.

Have been doing a few things today, I still can't see my downloaded content, please help anyone.

In that case, your framework is working fine; which means the most likely cause of the other CC not working is either a) broken CC, or b) you forgot to unzip the files before putting them in Mods/Packages. :)
Just to be clear - the Sims3Content folder is inside the Packages folder, yes?

No that folder was not in packages it was in Libraries/Electronic Arts/Sims 3/
I deleted that folder this afternoon and put the three downloaded things I have straight into the packages folder, and unzipped there. Still couldn't see anything when I went to create a sim. I have looked at other websites for help, youtube etc and everything suggests different ways/methods. I'm getting quite confused.

And when I put the three items into packages in unzipped in there, I didn't unzip before putting into packages.

Sims 3 - Verify Package Installation
To help you further, please carefully read and follow the following:
First, double-check your setup: These instructions will take you through the things you should check yourself: Package Files Not Working (http://www.simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Not_Working). You may be able to fix the problem yourself using those instructions.
Still not working? Then we will need ALL of the following information.
What is the version of your base game?
Windows OS: Game_Help:TS3_Patching_Find_Gameversion
Mac OSX: Game_Help:TS3_Patching_Find_Gameversion#info.plist
Copy and paste the indicated line from the skuversion.txt or info.plist, from the respective locations shown in the Find Gameversion Wiki, which would show you how to navigate to the following path: \Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin
BG: GameVersion =
Take THREE screenshots... one each of the following locations, with the Explorer/Finder window showing the Details View:
Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\
Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\
Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages
... and attach them to a post on this thread. Click Go Advanced and then Manage Attachments. Or if it says the pictures are too big, you can upload them to modyourpanties.com and copy and paste the links.
We have a guide on how to take screenshots if you need assistance: Game_Help:Screenshots.
Make sure you set your folder view to Details mode, that you have file types showing (.package, .cfg, etc. on the ends of the filenames) and expand out the Name and Type columns so they're fully readable!
Open your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\resource.cfg file in Notepad/TextEdit and copy-paste its contents here.
Right-click on Resource.cfg and check Properties. Is the file name Resource.cfg or Resource.cfg.txt or something else?
In that case, please post the info listed above (it's also listed on the new thread page, under "If you're having problems with .package files", or something like that) so we can see what's going on.

Just so you know I re-downloaded this Resource file off Modthesims today, but before I did this the old one was called Resource.cfg (also off modthesims) and it wasn't working either.
I hope I have done this right and you are able to see everything. It's all one big mess lol.
Thank you very much for your help so far :)

Hi,
I don't know what I did but I tried the game this afternoon and the eyes, brows and skin colour I downloaded worked, YAY!
What I am having trouble with now is HBB Skin by Victor_tor. I have downloaded both his male skins and the natural ones off sexysims2. The skins work in the game but I don't know how to get the big body of the male that is in the picture (on Victor_tor HBB skin page). I have also downloaded Johna's Body Sliders, but that still does not make him as big as the picture. I have not found a HBB mesh for sims 3. Also off sexysims2 I have downloaded 'Bloom's (Base 1980) penis mesh' and 'Default replacement penis with morphs' .... I selected cmar Penis Sliders Script 1.31-1.33, Map 2 and Sliders Script and a few other things to make the muscles stay while taking a shower. These are supposed to be compatible with Victor_tor's HBB skin. I went into the game and could not find the penis. The sliders were there to adjust the penis, but no mesh or penis.
Long story short I am after a HHB with good skin and a penis that is adjustable (size/soft/erect) and skin/penis that stays visible while showering/toilet etc etc. I used to have all this set up on Sims 2 but I am having trouble getting set up with Sims 3. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you :D

As far as I remember, Victor used a custom shirt mesh from TSR in the preview pics. Best bet is to ask him. :)

It's exactly the same as it always was. :) If you're having trouble, please have a look at the troubleshooting FAQ I linked to above and, if that still doesn't help, make a new thread containing the info I asked the OP for above.
