Mods and Hello

Hi as you may have guessed i'm new and although i have been playing the sims for a long time it is only recently that i have decided to put in some CC and some mods to my game.

My only question is what are mods and can anyone reccomend some good ones to try out?

thanks for the welcome and the link, i understand mods a bit better now.

Don't expect many uploads from me as i'll be more of a downloader but i may post a couple of houses (if i like them) as friends have said i'm a good architecht.
