I am creating a world based on Atlantis. I live in New Orleans, and have discovered that the supposed ancient city would have been in the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean and New Orleans surprisingly have similar plant life, and since I love my city so much, I thought I would kind of mesh them together...so the idea is if Atlantis were possibly rediscovered today, it would turn into a city slightly similar to NOLA. I've done research on the flora and fauna and have limited what I will use in the world, and the shape of the land is based on what Atlantis might have looked like. It's a mainland surrounded by ocean, with mountainous barrier type land around it. I've put a lighthouse on this outlying mountain area as a beacon to incoming water travel. I've put a lot of thought into this world and would really love some feedback on the idea and the pictures. I'll keep posting pics as I update and change things. There will be a suburb area, a beach area, and a city area. Lemme know what you think!!

It looks great so far. Just a tip, you might want to turn off fog when you take pictures, it just helps people to see your terrain paint etc better.
Also you need to post an overview shot so people can see what the whole world looks like.
What size map is this?
Do you plan on changing the .ini files?
What rabbitholes etc do you plan to include?
What other unique features do you plan to include?
Will this include CC?
What EPs and SPs are you using?
Are you going to prepack sims?
I think Atlantis is a great idea, are you going to include references to the movie?
Are you going to make this in a kind of Ancient theme or how Atlantis would be today?
I'm really excited about this, just remember the world building process can be very long and slow (sometimes more than 2 years) but folks here will keep you motivated :) it helps if you read all the tutorials available here and check out the experienced world builder's WIP threads like Kiwi_tea and Ouerbauer. Also there will be loads of people willing to help you with lots if you need it. (I hope that doesn't sound condescending :/)
Good luck :)

Not condescending at all! This is actually my third world. I just haven't made them public yet lol, kind of been practicing before doing anything public. I really don't know if I will inlcude cc...I'd like some feed back on the pros and cons of that if possible. I definitely have a lot of it lol.
My world will include all EPs and only a couple SPs. The map is large, definitely have distant terrain all set up. Flows pretty well so far. And yes I will be prepacking sims. I love the process so much and I know it takes a long time.
The world is in modern day, it's Atlantis rediscovered and repopulated!

Well, pros are:
- a modest amount of CC can make a world unique;
- it can help you achieve results that are impossible or require very high skills to reach with EA default content;
- it is almost necessary if you plan to build a very peculiar world, with a particular flora and building styles.
On the other hand, cons are:
- some people just won't download even the best world if it contains undesired CC;
- you most likely will need to link the CC on the download post, this means asking the creators for permission and blah blah blah;
- a large amount of CC can make worlds super heavy and highly affect the game, causing lag and freezing.
This is pretty much it. :) Good luck with your world!
