Hello all!

I'm in dire need of some help over here. I recently installed the sims 3 along with the expansions I have (I had them installed before but since I wasn't playing at the time, I had uninstalled them). I also pulled out my world files to install them as well, only my computer didn't recognize the files as it did before. It's telling me to let windows locate the file to open the sims3pack. I tried picking the sims 3 launcher and everything but it's not doing right. When I double click, it goes straight to the launcher without installing the new worlds. Now, I know that I can drag my worlds into the downloads folder under documents to install them through the launcher but it's driving me mad that I can't double click on them to install them. So my question is, what actual application in the sims 3 opens the sims3packs by double clicking? Is it possible that something didn't install right when I installed them? Any help is much appreciated!

Simpacks, unlike package files, need to be installed via the launcher. Your problem is that the files were never installed in the first place. They don't need to be opened, just put the simpacks in the downloads folder and then install them through the launcher.

I think the question is more about which program is the one that is automatically associated with them. It should be the Launcher, or one of the versions that modders have made that does the same thing. If the file association isn't set, you can re-set it under Properties after right clicking a Sims 3 Pack.

Or use "open with" and browse to where game is installed then under folder game/bin choose Sims3LauncherW.exe.
The Sims3LauncherW.exe will only exist though if you're patched up to later versions, if it does not exist choose Sims3Launcher.exe.
If you use a custom installer like Ghost sdoj said browse to the location where that is instead.
