View Full Version : Basic meshing in BodyShop?

I'd like to make a few minor changes to some of the Maxis outfits. Stuff like lengthening skirts a little, removing sleeves/socks, etc. I know how to do recolors, but can you adjust a mesh by just changing the black/white areas in "body~stdMatBaseTextureName_alpha" file under the Projects folder? It seems to work sometimes but not others.
Or is there any other way to adjust meshes that only use BodyShop?
Thanks

No, you cannot adjust the mesh just by modifying that black and white image (the alpha). What the alpha does is control what parts of the mesh are textured as skin vs. cloth - where it's white, the texture that you use on the coloured image will show up, and where it's black, you get the sim's skin. You can also use shades of grey to get transparency. Sometimes alpha editing will work to shorten sleeves or whatnot, if the sleeves are merely textured on and not part of the mesh - but if you find you have a ridge left when you edit the alpha, then you're getting into mesh editing (or choosing a different mesh, or reworking the recolour you want to make).
