Do you think it is possible to make Sims animal hybrid, that is, make a sim whose parent is a dog, cat or horse?
Mastercontroller seems to block it, but is it actually possible?

no. it isn't.

I need technical details.
Exactly why it is not possible.

Because..a hybrid of a cat and dog would require an entirely new creature...the cat-dog. EA has not made a cat-dog so therefore, you cannot mate them based on technical details. Now, the other reason could be because in real life, cats and dogs are different species, therefore cannot reproduce with each other!
Maybe some smart modders over in the modding forums could help you create a new creature for the game, although not sure it is possible without some pretty drastic code changes. ;)

How about intermingling the creatures indirectly. (without genetics and all that)
Not creating a new creature having the traits of both, but for instance, having a dog as the mother of my sim.

You mean, simply have the sim's family tree show a dog as your sim's mother? (Wait... are you saying he's a son of a bitch? ;) )
THAT is probably doable, though whether you can do it with existing mods or whether you'd have to mess with the save file data directly yourself I don't know :p If you're wondering if there's a way to achieve this with Master Controller, I'd post at NRaas and ask in the discussion thread for that mod.
Not quite sure why you'd want to though!

Impossible as the sims code doesnt support hybrids between humans and animals. why would you want that anway??????

"Hi class. My Dad's name is Spot, and he works sniffing out drugs at the airport!"
Yeah, I guess I could understand some very specific story lines where it could come in handy....................

Just install sims 2 Seasons without a patch and voila Samantha Ottomas's twins can have a dog for their father! Why you would want this is beyond me...

Heh... well, I gave up long ago why a Simmer would want a particular feature in their game... different strokes, is my motto :)
What I find odd is that it's apparently not so much the HYBRID per se that the OP wants... it's the familial relationship. That I don't quite get. But I would guess that the answer is, as usual, storytelling :)
After all, Kafka wrote a story where a guy turns into a giant cockroach... I reread that recently, and it's really as much about family relationships as anything else... so, not that different I guess :) and THAT one is considered a literary classic, so why argue?

Iunno, maybe your sim was raised by wolves, so you wanted his/her family tree to reflect that adoption.

I have my own means to design the hybrid itself. For instance, a female with thick body hair, and a beard could represent the offspring of an Unicorn.
I only need a way to make the family relationship work.

Hehe, yeah. Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

Mastercontroller is the work-around for everything; If mastercontroller won't let you do it then I'm pretty sure it's impossible.

Mastercontroller has self-imposed limitations by the creator.
for instance, you cant go to CAS with a deer, even if it completely possible.

Like I said, I'd be very surprised if you can't add an animal to the family tree by directly editing the save file.
TigerM wrote a save game editor a while back that might work for this... it is way out of date but apparently some of its functionality has survived all the patches. You can find it in the modding discussion forum.
Or, if you know what you're doing, you can go in with a hex editor and modify the relevant bits yourself ;)
In other words, I'd never say it can't be done. You might need advanced programming skills to pull it off though... and no guarantees that doing it wouldn't break the game :p If you want to pursue that, though, the modding discussion forums are the place to go for input.

Wouldn't work. Because the skeleton and animations would be very very messed up.

Hmm? we're talking about a completely hypothetical mod here... which would, of course, include new meshes and animations. Hypothetically ;)
Or alternatively, what the OP seemed to actually be asking for, just a modification of the family tree, with no consequences whatsoever for gameplay.

I think it's not possible. If it's possible then do it and prove.
