okay I have this sim who is a member of the fraternity but he lives in a dorm and in his wants bar is the want to "ask John to pledge to greek society" but there is no place in the conversation bar where he can ask this question

how does this work, how do you get your friends to "ask to pledge, " do you have to live in the fraternity house or throw a greek party or what.?

I can't figure this out. thanks.

Have you tried looking under your influence options. It may be something he has to influence him to do. Thats my best guess.

I think I figured it out to night you need to have rooms the personal door lik the dorms in the frat house for it to work right.

If you are already a member of the fraternity you can use the phone and there is a option under Greek House to move into frat house. If you havent pledged yet you use the phone under option of Greek house and call and they will send some members over and you need to make at least 45 friends points with them to get invited to join.

The option pops up for my sims with their friends, but when I ask I get the message that the sorority doesn't have enough members for them to have to join???

I moved my sims to a greek house that I built with Greek letters on the wall. I couldn't get the option to ask for pledges either until I found my answer at the BBS forum. First, you have to make sure there is a door in the lot -- any door. Then that will make one of your frat members to "visit campus" and bring back a greek letter (that is, if you don't have one yet). Place letter on wall then -- this is the best part -- SAVE, EXIT (to neighborhood) & GO BACK IN. That tip was not in the guide at all! I wouldn't have figured that out at all. Tried it and sure enough, I could click on my greek letter and get greek level status and also now have the option to ask for pledges.
Hope it helps someone. This bugged me for the longest...:)

If your sim is a member of a house, he shouldn't live in a dorm. Try clicking on the phone and the pie menu should say something like "move into greek house". I am assuming that your sim pledged and was accepted. Also, keep in mind that many of the hacks for TS2 are not compatible with EP1 and will cause certain functions not to enable. Hope this helps.

So, a greek house isn't really a greek house before you exit and go back in again? That'd explain the join want Fly and Venice have in my game.

If you "Join the Greek Charter" Making your house a "Greek House", you first need to set up Rooms for any pledges you want. (Basic small rooms like in the dorms is perfect, just a bed and a bureau a desk if you are feeling generous.) Under the "DOOR" option in Build Mode there is a "Claim Door" like they have in the dorms. Use those to mark your "Pledge's Rooms".

In order to get the "Ask Sam to Pledge" option to appear you need to have been established as a Greek House, have room for a roommate, and you will first need to be "Friends" with the person. (Noone wants to be a pledge to someone they don't like.)

Once you have gotten them to agree to join, you then can INFLUENCE them to do anything for FREE for that Pledge week. Afterward the week is over, you will see a message appear on screen. (Sam has finished his Pledge week, and can now be asked to move in.)

*Currently I'm running a Greek House with 14 members. There is a party tomorrow night, you're invited.*

Okay this is driving me absolutely nuts.

I moved 8 sims in, got a Greek charter, they stole the letter and I put it up, they've got lots of friends between them so they quickly skipped to level 6, the top level.

The letter is saying I have 32 family friends and am at level six with a maximum of 32,000 members allowed. I have 8 members currently, all of them are the founding residents in the house.

I keep asking friends and they keep rejecting with a hit to their relationship from the rejecting to boot. I even tried with one of my guys girlfriend who has a 100/100 relationship with him and she still rejected.

They are saying I don't have enough friends but according to the letter I have 32 unique friends which is well over the amount required to achieve the top Greek level so that can't be it.

Do I need to move someone out? Or is it some sort of bug? Does it make a difference that I started my own Greek house and it is not a Maxis one?

*edit: Okay I tried moving some sims out of the house so there would be less than 8 residing there and still no dice. I think it's just bugged. :( *

I uploaded a screenshot showing I have the maximum level Greek house with more than enough friends, and showing a sim with 90/99 relationship rejecting ask to pledge stating that the house didn't have enough friends.

There's 7 people currently in the house so there is space for one more of that applies to pledges too. I did save and go back into the lot, several times in fact.

Oh and the one girl is bald and the other has the weird face makeup because they used some custom content and I yanked out ALL my downloads to test and see if it was a conflict with any hacks and it's not. Looks like a bug. :(

*edited yet again: Confirmed. I read on the BBS that there's a bug with getting to level 6, the top level, Greek house where it won't allow you to ask sims to pledge, they will always refuse and say you don't have enough friends even though you clearly do.

Personally, I suspect that 32,000 max number as the culprit. Why the heck did they make it so high? The game probably doesn't know how to handle it. 100 or even 50 max would more than suffice. Somehow I don't see people having Greek Houses with thousands of member sims.
