I had this problem happen too... My fiance eventually went through the files themselves and deleted things that way. I don't know what he did though.

I had this same problem as well and I did the same thing as noseyroseyme's fiance. Since it wouldn't let me uninstall the Sims Uni in the control panel, I went into the C drive in the Program files and there were 2 folders inside of the EA Games in there: one was the original Sims 2 folder and the other was the Sims University folder. I actually only ended up installing part 1 of the University as I was having trouble installing part 2 so because of that, I tried uninstalling the Sims uni in the EA Games in Program Files but it wouldn't let me either so I ended up deleting the folder. When I looked in the control panel, it said that the Sims University was still there and when I clicked on remove, it said there was an error because it had been removed and asked if I wanted to uninstall it, which I clicked. After that, it was removed. However, funny thing is that when I uninstalled the Sims 2 and reinstalled it, it had an icon of the Sims University Expansion Pack and not The Sims 2. Plus, I also found that when I looked in the EA Games in My documents, the game didn't install the Camera Folder, the Configuration folder, nor the Logs folder. This keeps happening every time that I uninstall and reinstall. Is that something that I should be concerned about in the future whenever I want to reinstall the Sims Uni? Thank goodness I had a backed up folder so I copied those missing folders and transferred it in the EA Games in My Documents. Right now I don't want to deal with Sims Uni and will wait for my husband who is more computer savvy than I am.

When your game locks during an attempted Uninstall, the best bet is to proceed as you have and both backup your downloads to another location and RENAME folder, then proceed into your programs folder and delete the folder EAGames and it's contents. Now, if your like myself and you also have other EAGames such as "Alice," or "Undying," then of course you will need to enter the EAgames folder and should delete (TS2, University, and also Homecrafter.) After doing this, I strongly recomend that you do some disk cleanup and then defragment your harddisk. Follow this by either cleaning your registry or doing a complete power down and disconnect your PC from the wall. Then press and hold the power button (while disconnected) for 20 seconds to drain and binary record within the main ROM of the PC. Then restart the computer and begin the reinstall. Remember that TS2 and University use a great deal of space so defragmenting your drive is very important for performance. Hope this helps!!
