Since installing NL, I am unable to get anything above a '0' for food points. I have tried cooking lobster, turkey and other high cooking skill dishes and have tried using the buffet tables, both Maxis provided and downloaded tables. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

It might not have anything to do with the new expansion. The game has always had some glitches with this process. When and if it seems impossible, try and move your family to another house. It helps in my game.

Is this happening on a downtown lot?

no this is happening at home just normally playing sims 2 trying to get kids into private school.
this is indeed a valid question with no solution
the only thing you could possibly do is build an extremely huge house so that the tour counts for 50-60 points, the highest i got was 45 but i couldn't smooze, bj simply rejected everything all of my 8 sims tried to tell him. its rather depressing.
i've been driving myself nuts trying to get my kids into PS before Univeristy
i've gotten into the 60s 70s but without food its a bust..
i'm this close to frying bj ryan just to relieve the stress.
i'm guessing there will be a patch released soon (february) some few weeks before the next expansion.

Had the same problem, and it took me several tries until I found out what was wrong: the headmaster *must* announce that he is hungry! Only then will the counter go up. If you serve food before the message appears, it will earn you 0 points.

if you serve it
or if you ask him to come to eat?
in one of my several futile efforts i filled the table with sims and he never finished eating failing the scenario, i'm leery to waste more effort or have him wolve lobster alone as fast as he can just to pass the scenario.
even before NL any time i tried to cook the bastard would cause them to burn the food during preparation.
i'm still not discounting burning him to releave stress.
