If you couldn't tell from my previous uploads, I'm a big fan of Medieval items. I have a medieval neighborhood with a partial feudal system going on. One problem I ran into, however, was that every castle I downloaded for the King's family to live in was either far too big and complicated or far too modern. The castles posted currently are rather beautiful, but slowed down my game to a crawl or were too difficult to play in because of the abundance of rooms. The other problem was that they were often filled with objects/decorations that were much too modern for my medieval family and required a complete overhaul to be acceptable.

An easier solution was to just build a castle myself, one that I would have liked to download, with as little CC as possible, few or no modern amenities, and which is small enough that I can actually play with a large family on the lot.

I thought it would be most beneficial to give everyone a chance to furnish this lot themselves. Do not be fooled, it is still a huge castle, but I find that it is far simpler than some of the others out there. And hey, if you want to modernize it, go ahead. There is NOTHING inside the unfurnished version. Just lighting and some decorations outside.

However, if you like things to come in a neat package all set up and ready to play, I have created a COMPLETELY furnished version as well. In the furnished version, you will find, on the ground floor, a medieval kitchen (unfortunately, I could not replace the fridge and stove to be medieval, but if you can forgive me just one trespass, I'm sure you'll see most everything else is to the time),

a royal dining room complete with kingly banners and tapestries, a living room/study and a bathroom. On the other side of the grand royal staircase, a small booth for the moat watch guard, an exercise room (using Lethe_s's singing sword), a hot spring room, as well as a game room. On the second floor, I have the Royal chambers (master bedroom), an attached study and dressing chamber, a nursery and bedroom for your young maidens. Across the staircase, you will find a second royal chamber, for your heir to the thrown, an empty room to fill as you like, and a bedroom for your young lords as well as a homework/study area. The roof and towers are empty, do with them as you like. The dungeon is equipped with stocks and gallows, with four empty prison cells. The grounds are perfectly manicured and there are two driveways for your carriages.

Normally, I would NEVER dream of posting a lot with so much extra stuff to download, but one thing I know about you medieval simmers is that you probably have all of this stuff in your downloads folders already. If not, I'm sure many of you welcome the additions to help complete the medieval illusion. If you do not wish to download all of these extra items, you are best off with the unfurnished version. Once, again, due to the wishes of creators and size limits, you will have to download these items yourself to get this lot to work correctly.

I am not sure which expansion packs are needed, so I'm playing it safe and saying all of them. It is possible that you will not need them all but try the lot at your own risk and report here if it works/doesn't work.

ENJOY!

Notes on Playing the Furnished Lot
After playing this lot for the week, I can say that it came out exactly the way I wanted it to. Because of the stones everywhere, it feels like some of the medieval structures that I have traveled to. The carpets and tapestries complete this feeling. Unfortunately, on some systems, there might be a slight lag, so my best suggestion to get rid of some of the lag is to delete the tapestries that are hard to see anyway when playing with the half-walls option on. I took out every other red tapestry on the back wall behind the stairs, some of the expensive banners by Marina, and some of the tapestries in the dining room and upstairs hall. By no means do you need to get rid of all of them, just some will increase the speed of the game. I've added some pics of my royal family in the castle to my photobucket album, so you can see them in action. The crown prince just had a wedding there and it was gorgeous. Hope you enjoy!
