Information (Click for more details):
New Mesh
This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.
This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS2 - check the sidebar.
This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
This is a featured upload! It showcases the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
This set is now complete. There are now 2 even 3 options for every thing including the sinks: See end of thread for pics and info....
Please read the bold stuff at the end of this thread where any questions you may have should be answered (so you don't have to ask again or wonder why something ain't working as it should ) First off this is by no means complete as kitchen sets go, in fact its pretty sparse but I don't know when I'll finish the other bits and there really is no point hogging these until 2010. Counters are fully animated and are needed for the other objects to work in game (yup, I've become a bit hooked on the repository method). I wanted to have a round not an oval sink and the only way I found to do that was stick it in the counter so that accounts for the higher polys. The cupboard can be found in the wallhangings and sticks into the wall slightly on purpose. I'll just add the rest to this thread as and when it gets done...I think that's fair enough. To start off with four colours schemes that you can mix and match. Enjoy. UPDATE 28/03: The first breakfast bar/island is now available: UPDATE 03/04: More stuff for the walls. Mix and match with no cheats. Collection file added, yay! If you're wondering how come there's so much clutter I've used the wall shelves with the invisible recolour. UPDATE 05/04: So a more traditional island and a basic barstool for sitting at the island UPDATE 04/05: I've completed my first fridge. You do not need the counters for this as it has its own recolours matching the colours I've made so far. Three shiny as fridges tend to be and one mat. Click on the picture to get the matching dining room tables and chairs. They also use the counter for their texture so whatever recolours you have for the kitchen will work with them too. ![]() . Update 17/06/08: dishwashers...couldn't really work out which one I preferred; since I made two I may as well upload both and leave you the choice. UPDATE 26/06/08: trashcompactor...it wouldn't exactly do my bidding but I am so kitchen oversaturated that this is the final product. There is a new invisible recolour to go with this included in the rar. Please let that overwrite the old one so you can recolour both the front and the back. It is animated, like all the rest of the appliances. bonus bits: ![]() for those that like finishing touches I have added an optional backsplash (or is it splashback, I'm never quite sure), shelves with a deco slot to be used with counter island No1 with the invisi recolour(clutter junkies rejoice!) and a few panels which will make your kitchen even more modular and customisable. Needless to say if you opt for this pack I strongly suggest you get the collection file and experiment a bit in game. UPDATE 07/10/08: Fridge no 2 UPDATE 19/10/08: Metal shelves Since I made 2 dishwashers, a couple of trashcompactor options and quite a few combinations for the counters/cabinets why stop there. A choice is something we all desire so I made a "Subzero" type fridge and a bit of shelving to go with it. ![]() UPDATE 28/12/2008: Since not everyone likes to cook "electric" I have provided an alternative stove with a gas hob. Its a brand new oven in all respects (see end of thread for pic). Having made it with only one central ring I thought it was high time to move slot positions and get sims cooking neatly on their hobs. I took the plunge with both cookers and look at the results: ![]() Stove no.2 In keeping with one kitchen, many options, I have made a second cooker. ![]() If you already have the first stove redownload BB KitchenBasic Stove.rar and see Q&A 4 for details. UPDATE 13/01/2009: Cookerhood/firealarm ![]() Every sim let loose in a kitchen needs a firealarm and what better camouflage than a stylish cooker hood, not too big, not too small and with a few options to suit your tastes. UPDATE 16/01/2009: set complete Bonus bits 2, includes Xtra large shelves & cupboards, barstool 2 and an extra set of counters. ![]() New sinks: ![]() You will recognise one of these sinks as a replacement for the original. Due to their custom shapes 2 of these sinks do not fit into the counters as they should. You will have to use the invisible recolour that came with the trashcompactor to recolour the countertop part. ![]() Despite trying there has been no better solution than this. You will have to simply try this out, its not that difficult and it will enable you to use your sinks adjacent to corners. Once you get used to this method you can delete the original sink. That's it folks, I hope you had fun. PLEASE READ: Questions, answers and important information Q1: Its flashing blue, what do I do? A1: You must download the counter. The texture for all the objects here apart from the two fridges is included only in this one package. Its called being kind to your pc. If you want to recolour then it is just this one file. A template can be found here , just rightclick and save. Q2: I think its crashing my game even though it is supposed to be base game compatible. Help! A2: The ONLY reason that this could happen is that you have several versions of fridge 1 in your download folder. The only fridges from this set that you should have are: BB_KitchenBasic_Fridge1_allEPs.package BB_KitchenBasic_FridgeF2_2.package Any others should be deleted. This is the reason why I have always asked that you DO NOT include the fridges in houses that you upload and link back to here instead. Everything else can be included (free sites only). Q3: Does it have options that come with expansion packs? A3: The fridges have all EP options available and are still basegame compatible. The dishwasher and trashcompactor are basegame only. Q4: There is no difference between stove no1 and stove no1 updated, why? A4: In order for stove no1's updates to take place you should do the following two things: Delete the package entitled BB_KitchenBasic_Stove and replace with BB_KitchenBasic_Stove_UPDATEDXmas2008. I have learnt a small lesson and have called the updated file....updated. In game in houses where you have already bought the stove, sell and then buy again. Simple as that, I am not an experienced modder so I have no idea how or why the game continues to use a "ghost" package but it does if you don't make the changes. Finally, yes, finally, I have made one big download entitled ALL OF IT which also includes a picture ![]() with nearly all the meshes and their corresponding names which could well be useful, the last add ons have not been included in picture although all meshes are contained. Edit sometime late in 2010: A year and a bit later, someone found out that counter2 had a problem in dirty state and of course complained about it. Since I have other things on my mind right now and if you have been diligent enough to read to this point here is the link to not only give you the update but a whole bunch of extra goodies. Enjoy my altruism, sense of perfectionism and generally being too nice for my own welfare. The fix will be found only in the comments cos I'm really tired.fix and more goodies Collection file is not only updated but has been reorganised. If you want all the appliances to work on community lots download the ALL OF IT rar. Again, enjoy! Polygon Counts: counter: max 676 cupboard1: 264 sink:1700 cooker:1113 cupboard2: 138 counter island 1: 220 wall unit: 32 cupboard2: 138 shelves: 12 each counter island 2: 750 barstool: 322 fridge1:844 dishwasher1:847 dishwasher2:851 trashcompactor:1075 bonus bits: very low fridge 2:2449 stove 2: 1998 smokealarm/cookerhood: 185 Additional Credits: Numenor for the kitchen counter templates. Ignorant Bliss for the repository tutorial that I think I now know off by heart. Lord Darcy for the information on how to update the fridge. Last but definitely not least those of you who by your positive feedback gave me the encouragement and willpower to keep going and finish this set when at times I just wanted to give up and do something else. A heartfelt thankyou. 13463 people have said thanks to buggybooz for this download. For more information about this creator and their policies or details, click here. Screenshots
