I didn't see any name mods for Japanese names (well, as Japanese/East Asia as US English Sims 2 allows you to set it), so I created my own! What this will do is create Japanese names for any townie created after this mod is installed. It doesn't seem to matter what language your game is in, your townies will have the new Japanese ones. Unfortunately, the names are Roman alphabet only, even if installed in a Japanese game.
What this means is that instead of Goopy Gilscarbo, you'll now have names such as Mashashi Ii and Beniha Katsukawa. There's about 1100 of each male and female names, as well as about 950 family names, so there should be quite a bit of diversity for your townies. A big thanks goes out to Jordi for his original name mod, and providing the information to make others in this thread. The package is labeled as "Live" because naming it something else wouldn't allow it to work in my game. It should be compatible with the base game, as well as all the expansion packs. Edit for clarification: There's a bunch of modern, as well as ancient (16th/17th century) Japanese names. I tried to pull out as many ancient names that stuck out to me as I could, but I missed a few, and left others in. This is because in my game, I'm playing ancient Japanese people. *g* Your mileage may vary, but just to let you know, "old fashioned" names are included! 524 people have said thanks to hentaisatsuki for this download.
