Note: the object I provided is just a placeholder. Like it has happened in the past,
I'm hoping on the generosity of those who made re-meshes for some of my mods.
In one of the screenshots there's an object I used at first but decided to drop later.
That object is not contained in the download
Note to the virtual re-meshers: one of the screeshots is for you, to see what direction the
toddlers lie based on the arrow of the placement footprint (the green outline thingy).
if I work on this again, I may make some modifications to the object (add slots, most likely),
so don't get mad at me if I do.
A napping mat with an interaction for toddlers: sleep. Sleepy toddlers will use it autonomously.
The mod is pretty flexible, see the CONFIGURATION xml, there are quite a few options.
There's also an option (disabled by default) to let Pets play on the mat (like they would
do on a rug). I don't have Pets installed, so I'm not sure if it works correctly.
EDIT: nope, it won't work, keep it disabled
. I'll remove it at the first chance.
It was a silly idea anyway, and you don't want a pet to keep the mat busy
while a toddler needs to use it.
If toddlers have a stuffed animal in inventory, they'll get a moodlet (after sleeping for at least
X sim-minutes), like when they sleep in the crib or on the floor (in that case they get it even
if they sleep for 1 second).
Note: there's some clipping while the toddler is sleeping, as you can see in the first screenshot.
This is not the fault of the object (it's a rug, so it's flat), it's the animation that goes a bit too low.
I have plans for this mod (involving babies, tricking story progression to think it is a crib even if it is not
really a crib, make more animations, etc) but I've put them on hold because I got another idea and I have
to try that first, so I'm releasing this limited version. Sorry for the mess, even the name of the mod is
confusing: Sleeping Toddler Mat, Napping Mat or CribMat? Who knows!
Autonomy and interaction with the crib
Uhm... I feel like there's something important to say here, but I really don't remember.
Is it better to use both the mat and the crib or just one of the two? You tell me.
IIRC while toddlers are sleeping on the mat, they can't be interrupted by autonomous interactions,
so Sims trying to use an interaction on them might wait and wait. A win for the toddler, but the
other Sim will waste time doing nothing (I saw Sims waiting a very long time during the first
phases of testing, which are a complete blur now, not sure if it still happens).
and Absent Minded
Sims can sleep in the mat ignoring the "right" orientation.
and Heavy Sleeper
Sims might go to sleep even when not sleepy (see notes on the ITUN,
this might not have been a great idea, probably a separate Nap interaction would work better)
New sleeping animations
This mod contains a default replacement of the "sleep" jazz script who handles the sleeping
animations for toddlers and babies. Why? I've added a few custom sleeping animations for toddlers.
- a shorter version of the lay down animation (pre sleep)
- a shorter version of the stand up animation (post sleep)
- vampiric themed animations for vampire toddlers (look at the screenshot, it's a bit creepy, isn't it?)
For non vampires, the animation used is picked randomly (50% chance to use the original and 50%
to use the shorter version). The first two work also on the crib or when a toddler falls asleep on the
floor, the vampiric themed ones work only on the Napping Mat (for now).
Note: in the vampire sleeping animation, the eyes are still a bit open. I'll fix that at a later time.
I made the vampire breath while sleeping, is that ok? I don't know the vampiric lore of TS3,
I never really played with Supes. What am I saying? They breath normally in the regular
sleeping animation, so this is a moot point.
Anyway, what about a re-mesh shaped as a casket (but still flat)? Just saying.
Note: the animations might or might not work well on CC cribs that use a non standard height
(presuming there are such CC cribs).
Note: if you absolutely don't want the new animations, just delete the _Animations .package
(that package does contain the CLIP used to make the toddler change clothes before sleeping
though, but that is also contained in the Child2Toddler2Baby mod. See Compatibility paragraph).

Using Dashboard, you'll notice a conflict with my other mod: Child2Toddler2Baby.
It's ok, the two mods have a CLIP resource in common.
