Update/Patch error when Re-installing University!

I try to reinstall the game, cause Ive got a new computer.(means I have no downloads or saved games, just a fresh start).
I read some FAQ´s, but nothing applys to my problem.
The original game is re-installed, and works nicely.
Im now trying to install University. For some reason the update at the end of the installation doesnt work.
I get an error-message and the installation aborts,when I come to "insert disc 4". It simply says "an error occured", with no further explanation.
I also downloaded the patch from the official site, the error occurs again , the downloaded patch will not install either. I have no idea what to do. (exept cleaning the discs, which I did, and trying to install again, which I did now like a million times - ok.only two...)

Any suggestion most welcome

Try installing from the hard drive, as outlined here:

If that still gives trouble, I'd completely uninstall, remove the registry entries and then install again.

Some people have also reported that it helps to install the base game patch before installing any EPs.

Ok, thanks. I tried installing the base game patch that I downloaded from the official site right after installing Sims 2 original. It doesnt work! The error-message occurs again.

(Uninstalled the game.As for reg.keys, I cant find any trace from the game , not the folder or any keys after using the "uninstall-button",(as you described it in your thread) so I guess it uninstalled everything ?)

I copied the discs from the original game as suggested to the harddrive, and clicked "autorun". The installation keps failing,installs 3-4 % and then fails again. and I clicked the "try again" button for an hour or so - not much point it seems... (*tears and frustration*).

It speaks of two patches (?). What does that mean?
Thought something was wrong with "disc 4", but the game installs and works, so it cant be that, can it? I just try to understand where to look for the problem: Is it my new computer, is it the patch itself, is it the game-discs...? I only installed twice on my old computer without any problem, and the discs have pretty much rested in their box on a shelf - hate to think I have to buy the original game again.

Tried to open Body Shop with Original installed, but It crashed immeadiately, didnt even open the window - I give up...(for now)

Ok - it was a simple Window XP thing.... I did have the Firewall eanbled on my new comp. Disabled it, and the game "patched" itself. Happy endings!
