Broken Mailbox - Billing problem

I'm not sure what set of circumstances led to this happening, but on one of my lots, I have been unable to get my bills. I click on the mailbox, select the Get Mail option, and the Sim walks over to the mailbox. Sometimes he looks inside, sometimes he doesn't. There are no unpaid bills sitting on the lot as objects, and the lack of payment has reached the point where the repo man comes to collect items about 16 "hours" after the lot loads. I have not found any hacks that would influence the mailbox, and installing the replacement mailbox and trashcan with the objects from http://daydream.etowns.net/ , but when I resume the game, the mailbox still claims to have unreachable bills in it. Any advice would be greatly aprpeciated, and thank you for reading this.

I had a very similar problem a while ago, and unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to fix it, either. But you could try twojeffs' college adjuster (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=1236.0) that can delete invalid mail. Place the adjuster on the lot, and the option to cleanup invalid mail will show up on it if it's something the hack can fix. It didn't work for me, though.

Also it's worth trying it with all of your downloads removed, as there may be something conflicting that you didn't think would cause problems.
