OK, here's the deal. My Sim got pregnant after a fling with a casual boyfriend. He left the picture before she ever gave birth; her twin daughters don't know the dad from Adam. When they were toddlers, she started a relationship with a new boyfriend and he moved in. Now, the girls are in the Child life stage, and they sob and cry every time they see Mom kiss her boyfriend! They don't even know their real dad, so it's really driving me nuts that they're not accepting their new "stepdad." How long will this behavior continue? It's killing the family's relationship scores, as you can well imagine - every time they see Mom and Boyfriend kiss, their relationship with their mom drops to -20. It's nuts! Will this situation go away on its own, or can I expect them to throw idiotic tantrums into adulthood?!

I had that happen before too. My sim had a daughter with a boyfriend. The daughter didn't know her father either. However, whenever the mother sim had romantic interactions with other men, the girl would cry. I guess they inherently know who their father is, even if they never met him. The girl ended up absolutely hating her mother. I got tired of this too. I ended up moving her father in, and then having him move out with his daughter. Her father ended up meeting someone else though, and the girl would cry when she saw her dad with this woman. Then she hated her dad too. It finally ended when the girl's mother caught her old boyfriend cheating with his new girlfriend. It was kind of funny that she cared still, since she had all ready had two other children with another guy. The mom's relationship dropped with him. Then his relationship eventually dropped with her too. His daughter no longer cried when she saw her dad with his new girlfriend. Her dad ended up getting married, and she became good friends with her stepmom.

Your sim probably still has a good relationship with her kids' father. She is probably still in love with him. You have to wait until the relationship drops, and it will over time especially if she doesn't talk to him anymore. Then the kids won't get mad when they see their mom with their stepdad. I think making the mom marry her new boyfriend might put an end to the kids' tears also, but I'm not positive on that.

Thanks for the advice - I'll try forcing a poor relationship between Mom and her ex in the hope that it causes the kids to quit blubbering. I hadn't thought of that.

I had already thought of having Mom marry her new boyfriend, but that doesn't fit with her "story" as I've already thought it up - she's not the marrying kind :)

Thanks, though!
