View Full Version : Some custom content is just colourless meshes

Okay, I've searched an awful lot, but nothing seems to pertain directly to my problem, nor have any effect on it. My apologies if I'm just crap at searching and someone's already asked this.

But:

Some (not all) my downloaded objects just show up in the catalogue and after placement as the plain grey meshes. I'm running EP1 and I do have CEP. I removed and replaced the .package files with no result. But then the next time I started up the game, some of it showed up with the proper textures on. But not all of it. I know it *should* all be there, and I can see the textures in Clean Installer's preview function, just not on the objects themselves. It doesn't seem to be related to who created the objects-- I have the problem with stuff from various creators that was downloaded at various times.

So my real question is, is there a problem with the textures/objects or is it just a problem with my computer sucking and the game taking a long time to register things? Should the latter even be an issue? I'm quite befuddled and rather tired of grey sinks. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Beth

Do the Maxis items show up correctly?

Yup, they do. Everything shows up just fine except a few random things. And just to add to the bizarro, when I was playing last night I checked on it and three previously-grey bathtubs now have their proper textures, and I hadn't touched a thing in the downloads folder between the last time I loaded the game. o.O

Oh, and by EP2 I meant EP1. *headdesk*

Have you tried updating you graphics drivers? Or it could be you have some cc not compatible with your game, that is to say "made for N/L or OFB"

My drivers are current (though the hardware's cruddy, which I'm quite afraid may be the real problem). And the cc in question was labelled as EP-ready. I don't actually know how to tell in SimPE if it isn't. S'pose I'll go learn. :)
