View Full Version : Bon Voyage, Stuff Packs and Download Searching

Delphy
8th Sep 2007, 7:44 PM
Hi All,

The downtime earlier on was so that I could update the site and add the following:

Bon Voyage EP selection to profile and download / upload screens
Celebration Stuff to download / upload screens
H&M Fashion Stuff to download / upload screens

In addition, you'll notice on the top left of the Download browser that the Search box now has 2 options: All and This forum and children. This essentially means you can search within, for example, Pets, or Lots, and it will return only results from that forum and below and not results from the entire downloads section.

That's it for today - more coming soon.

Regards
Delphy

The new download template is brilliant, Delphy. Great work!

I can't wait to get my hands on Bon Voyage, as well, if my school schedule allows it (geez, isn't it so, like, inconvenient when teachers give you homework?)

Ooh, thank you for making it easier to search just specific subsections of the site. I could already do it in advance search, but this is less of a pain in the tush. ;)

what about the holiday SP or holiday edtion? Shouldn't there be an option that says an upload requires that?

Thank you Delphy. :D I love the search feature especially! However...

I hate to post a problem, but any time that I search with the drop-down box in the navbar, I get this message: "This is not a valid download forum." I tried search terms that I knew would normally get results, but it still didn't work (in IE7 if it matters). I figured you'd want to know; I'm not trying to be a nuisance. :)

I really like the new search feature as well, but the "this is not a valid download forum" error keeps throwing me off. I finally located the new search system under the download tab, but it took me a while. And I still keep getting the error. xD;

Thanks so much for all the work you do for this site. =D

The new search option is a very good improvement. I think the navbar-search will be updated next (but makes there a 2 option search sense?).

Okay navbar menu search has been fixed. Also, just a note. Only the search box on the top left of the download browser window is context sensitive. The ones in the navbar dropdowns are not context sensitive.

ChaoKuang, please read the thread in site issues.

andrewbyrner, this is not the right place to ask that. See the help forum.

Dang it Circuit City has the $12 dollars off sale, but when I got there they were out of stock. They said they might recieve the next shipment this Wednesday, so I'm going to try to get it then. I now know it must be good if it sold out. *mumbles to self*

hmm..thats gota be usefull...:D

oh, im not sure where to ask thins, but it looks like clean installer can no longer access the packaged file once you go up to Bon Voyage :(

just made a nice family hotel, packaged, then went to use clean installer and when i tried to overwrite the file, it gave me a string of reasons why it couldnt do it and deleted the file.
it also cant even see the file even when its saved to desktop in a seperate folder.....
it also didnt seem to be assosiateing itself with sims2 pack files any more, but i could still look and check all my downloads in the DL folder.

will have to look and see if an earlier (pre BV) sims2 pack file will read and clean.....if yes, then it looks like theres gona have to be a lot of investigating and gnashing of teeth and fist shaking in EA's direction by the installer team

:(

Rayea, Clean Installer hasn't had an update since 2005, so it's highly unlikely any teeth gnashing will go on becuase nobody is working on it. :)

Can I ask whether any new jewellery (i.e. jewellery that appears in the maxis jewellery section as opposed to the glasses section) is going to have it's own section or whether it should still go in the accessories section?

Thank you Delphy, but you guys, beware the Bon Voyage's bug! If you don't have it, wait the official patch release or wait the guys here at MTS2 make an unofficial patch. But thank you Delphy, cool improvements

pedroion, what bug are you referring too?

Delphy? Is it possible to make the second part of the downloads classification part able to accept multiple categories? I hope that makes some sense, I tend to upload things in sets and they don't ever seem to fit right. I make similar outfits for multiple ages and then have to pick one age to put it in. I'm sure other people have run into this before as well. I'm also about to upload alot of buy mode recolors and I wanted to group them similarly. I just wanted to upload them as Seating, since it has dining, living, recliners, and beds in it, but again, I have to pick just one. Would this be hard to change?

Also, I second the request for a BV Jewelry section.

Thanks for listening! Love this site!

Phaenoh, multiple categories has been on my list of things to do for a very long time, but it's actually quite complex in terms of how you do it, and how it's displayed and handled in the download browser. So it's not something that is possible, but may or may not get done in the future.

I'm sorry to be the one to say this, but there does seem to be a wee bit of trouble with the new search feature. It seems to want to return to "this section and children" whenever I put in a search, now this wouldn't be a problem, but for some reason it messes up my search. I can usually get one page of lets just say 60's stuff and then it won't let me go on to the next page, it says there are 29 downloads, but I'm only seeing 15, there are 14 creators who are being left out of my potential wave of sudden downloading.

Once again, I'm sorry to be the one to complain, but if I didn't the problem might not be known, and therefore remain a hinderance to the operation of this site and the sharing of creations that so many people worked so hard on.

wrightguy, tell me the *exact* search phrase you are using please.

Wrightguy0
27th Sep 2007, 11:49 AM
I just type in "60's", I'm finding that some things work and some things don't, Like if I'm looking for a specific thing like "Victorian" it works, But when I'm looking for Decades, that's where the problem is.

I'm also finding it annoying when the selction button switches back to This Section and Children, and I move on to a new search topic. It gives me an error message *This is not a suitable download forum* :wtf:

Delphy
27th Sep 2007, 3:01 PM
That particular bug with the blank pages occurs only when you use special characters in the search terms (ie apostrophes)

I have noticed that the Bon Voyage Expansion Pack has to be downloaded in a seperate place then the rest of sims2 and its expansions. So ummmmmmmm where do I put it?
I tried once already and made a mistake of installing Bon Voyage in the same location and it didn't work. Plus I lost all my downloads too. So now I am starting  from scratch again.
Could you please give me an idea where to install bon voyage, and will it interact with my other sims2 expansion packs?

Thanks
