Okies little big planet, the new flag ship title that Sony will be releasing in oct. I have really high hopes for this game Ive been itching to get into a platforming game for a while.

For those of you who have not heard of the title its like Gary's mod mixed with mario on drugs. And the hype for the game is indeed big. But what scares me the most is that it also has a big potential for failure. One of the things I noticed is that their is no enemies, its its centered on coop play nad competitive play. It's mostly centered on sharing levels made by players to other players. The success of the game is solely based on the people that will be playing it.

I really want this title to be successful, the concept is cool just wish their was something more to it than that.

well thats my 2 cents.

Is that so bad? I personally think it is refreshing. From what I have seen, just one video I admit, the game is based on solving problems on how to get pass a level. I much rather be sitting there thinking how do I get pass this rather that timing my jumps on enemies head. I prefer to exercise my brain cells rather than my fingers.

But you raised an interesting. Have we, as gamers, become so custom that computer games primary involve killing and destruction that it has become the norm?

Just my opinion.

I've heard a bit about LBP, especially the comparisons with Garry's Mod. GMod is more or less the reason I purchased Half-Life 2 (and it's the reason I have something in the realm of three copies of the game, yeah, I know, what a waste of money).

I'll have to check it out at a friend's house, since I won't own the game, but I expect it'll lack one of GMod's greatest strengths: the ability to 'import' and generate content from other games. The sheer size of available models, scripts, and modifications is quite mindboggling, as you'll see if you ever go to the FacePunch Forums.

Still, LBP does look a lot better than Garry's Mod, so that's good. We can only wait and see.

Will be getting this day one. It was one of the reasons I used to justify my PS3 purchase.

Well yeah it's sort of gives coherency in objectives if theirs a bad guy in the way. Besides LBP is sort of an evolution turning into a unique genre, Im kinda used to enemies in platforming games. The only thing I can think of a game that you wont have to kill anything is point and click adventures and puzzle games (oh wait I have to kill multi colored blocks). :)

Oh yeah on mods, I have my hopes up since they did good with UTK3 and ported mods from the PC (less custom wav files) maybe they'll give a chance to the community to creat custom mods.

Not all games are about killing or destruction. The best-selling PC games of all time, The Sims, are about quite the opposite, one could argue. :)

Just....most...games.

Well it is currently sitting in my PS3 after a very annoying delay. Now I've just got to wait for updates to download so I can play.

Grrrr... I hate the waiting game.

*edit*

Oh my god this game is SOOOOO cute!

I love the zebra head. :D My brother in law had a box on his sackboys head and a cape on his shoulders. It was pretty epic.

The game is awesome. I spent all day today designing a tank which has already seen 15 views and 2 hearts (hearts are people adding your design/level to their favourites).

It has a controllable turret, forward and backward motion as well as the ability to shoot explosive shells. :D

If folks want to check her out please search for Prez-Panzer. Also my friend ID is ElPrezAU if that also helps.

I'm not really a fan. lol. I rented it for the weekend and I'm not obsessed with it. (Usually I latch on a game and play like it's no tomorrow but with this game I could take it or leave it)

I'm similar disposed to the game. I was able to try it out at a friend's house, and found a rather disturbing development--the actual 'designing' phase, so to speak, is for me about a dozen times more entertaining than anything else in the game--though it ends with frustration when I return to reality and realize that any PS3 game is not Garry's Mod or the like.

I think part of the reason is my tiredness of the 'platforming' element.

The game is quite cute, but in complete honesty, that does not do it for me. Sackpeople strike me as being like Miis, but considerably less half-assed (I'm looking at you, Nintendo).

I'll have to rent this from work once we get our PS3... It looks interesting to say the least.
