View Full Version : No connectivity?

I know not everyone has it yet but... is it just me, or does the login feature not work at all? I first tried to create a new account and it said that my details didn't match anything in their system (duhh, I'm trying to create a NEW account!).
Then I decided I'd just go to ea.com and create a new account there since the in-game one wouldn't work, and now it's just telling me "An unknown error has occurred." Delphy apparently was having issues with it too last night - I'd tried it again in the evening myself and got some connection error...
So is it just us having issues, or is it actually that their servers are down/unresponsive/busted?
I wouldn't really care but I'd like to see what is out there to download and I'd like to be able to have a shareable username that I can give to people here so they can get my creations.

I can't say I've had any problems at all HP.
If you do get it running please to be getting both Delphy and yourself to add ElPrezAU as a buddy.

I tried signing up last night for a NEW EA Account, but I just kept getting "An unknown error has occured". I even tried logging into my existing EA account but that wouldn't work either.
So, yeah, maybe the European servers are borked? Or something...

I have had no luck with connecting either, I can log on to sporepedia etc using my regular ea account, but it will not connect via the game at all. My Creature Creator never had a problem previously either.

Mkay, well, I went ahead and put in a question at EA reporting the issue. I looked on their forums and I'm not the only one who's having it, but the only fixes there aren't going to help me at all -
http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/spore-creature-creator-discussion/333279-login-invalid.html
It's a fresh install, I'm not running any emulation software, I'm an administrator, don't have a firewall or antivirus software running, don't have any background software that would interfere, and nothing on my end should be any sort of problem.

They were doing some "big changes" to the Spore website yesterday in preparation for the official release.
I also had problems logging in last night at about the same time as your post - I think that in amongst their website changes that they took the login/account creation features offline for a while. Couldn't log into my already created account via either the website or the game.
If that is the case, the website login works again today - so you should be able to create a new account now, without having to do anything special to fix things at your end :).
Edit: 3 hours later: The site is "closed for scheduled maintenance" again now...I suspect that there will likely be connection issues again.
I'd hazard a guess that the log in functionality will bounce on/off regularly over the next week or two until they get it all bedded-in. *sighs*

I can now logon! I am not doing anything differently and did not re-install or mess around with my firewall or anything, so I would have to say there was a problem with the official website rather than my actual logon.

*sighs* Still no reply from EA, and now it's gone from "An unknown error occurred during registration. Please try again," to "The registration key used to install this game cannot be validated."
The login on eu.spore.com is still telling me "This section of the Spore website is currently down for maintenance. Please check back soon, it shouldn't take us very long to restart the universe." Same as it has been since I've been looking there.
*makes a rude gesture toward EA*

Definately sounds like something thats thier problem. I couldn't even connect to eu.spore.com last night. As for the registration key not being valid - screw you EA! Of course it's valid, since I have the actual game box that I paid for and everything.
