Hi All,

With the release today of the full Spore Creature Creator, I know I am one among many who have had tremendous fun with it so far creating all manner of weird and wonderful creatures.

Here is one of my favourites (not my creature, btw!):

Hm, nobody else has posted yet? I made a bunch of creatures, most of which I'm not terribly happy with. But I like how these two came out.

This is the crocobird. Not a very good name, but then again I suck at names. I actually wanted a to make just a bird creature but there aren't any beaks in the trial version unfortunately.

And I had the idea to create this one after I saw some other people doing similar things (never claimed to always be original :P). I really like those empty eyes, they give a creature such an adorable face. Even if it's a carnivorous plant ;)

I am curious what the full version of the creator has to offer. Also, I'm really surprised at what this thing can already do with a bit of creativity (especially looking at some other people's creations).

i call my first spore t lol was suppose to be toady but I think I click something accidentally and was saved as t

those 3 round things on its body actually has function, it spit sort of a poison gas.

everytime you add a "part" to your creation, look at the top right hand corner, if it has a function it will be added there, like roar, spit (those 3 round things) and grap etc :) thought you might want to know what i discover, but don't count on me, I am also still in the dark.

lets compare notes: this one with the short legs has the function "sneak" doe log legs one has those as well?

Here's the lovely Bellybeast. I've given it some spikes and stuff to protect it from carnivores, but it's surprisingly fast despite it being one big lump of fat. Gotta love watching the body wobble when it's running about on it's tiny legs with hooves. :D

The creatures make some awesome sounds both with regular mouths and the insect thingys, it's half the fun really.


Btw, are you guys using the free version, or the full one? Thinking about buying it tomorrow..

Thanks for the link Daisie, I finally got DirectX to install, but the game desn't work regardless >.>

The EA spalsh screen comes up, then after about 5 seconds it just closes the program with no warning X.X I've been trying to install this game from 4:00, so I think it's time to give up :P

On the plus side, you guys have made some amazing creatures XD I particualrly love Daisie's Giraffe and Keely's monster :)

Here's Brainfarty. lol. It's an adorable carnivore that likes to eat herbs occasionally and every once in a while it emits foul smelling gas from the capsules on its head, hence its name. :) Looks clumsy when it dances. :)

how do you change the size of the vertebrae? i no how to make it longer and add more on just not how to make the vertebrae thicker or thinner!

Put your mouse over the vertebra you want to change and press the up or down keys on your keyboard. You can also apparently use the mouse wheel to do this, but mine sucks so I just use the keys. :)

So... don't just show off your creatures... share them!

Your finished creatures are located in your My Documents\My Spore Creations\Creatures folder, as .png files.

Upload the files to MYP (http://www.modyourpanties.com) and then link to the uploaded file here. Make sure to use the url tags rather than img tags as you can't inline link a png here. :)

You should be able to download the .pngs others link to, put it in that same directory, and use it in your Creature Creator.

Be sure to note whether you're running the trial or full version, though, as I don't think folks on the trial can use full version creatures.

Spiderchi: after it downloads, you need to close and re-open the download manager. Then you will be able to install. I know it's wierd but, that's how it works, dunno why.

Is anyone else annoyed that they charged at all for the spore creature creator considering that when the sims 2 came out, they gave away body shop for free? and to the people who do have the full version, is it worth purchasing? I like the bird and pelican beaks a lot. the creatures do come out a lot more unique.

HystericalParoxysm, I like your tiger. I wanted to do a cat type, but I couldn't figure out how. There are no cat mouths whatsoever.

RabbitRoadkill - That's just the regular "orca" type mouth, just sized down a whole bunch and stretched out width-wise quite a bit. Plus the little nostrils, and one of the decorations... the little triangle-shaped doodad, to give the end of the snout a bit more of a cat nose shape.

Grr. I'm still waiting for a response from EA, but... does anyone have an idea whether if I go out and buy the CD full version, it'll have a better chance of working than the digital download? The installation is the problem at the moment. :eviltongu I'll be upset if Spore turns out not to be compatible with Vista. It should be, I guess, but... I just hate Vista anyway. But I don't want to deal with a partition or trying to roll back to XP. *sigh*

HP: I love the cat!!

On another note, does anyone want me to upload my giraffey creature? It's compatible with just the trial.

I have the partial version... I really want the full version though! It's just that I'm not using my home comp, and neither of the laptops we have right now can run it (lack of space/bad video card, respectively). I'm getting a laptop for graduation soon, so then I'll be able to use it though!

I haven't really kept up with the latest Spore news, but I saw this thread and just had to download the Creature Creator.
After playing it just a little bit, I went and got the full version yesterday while shopping.

I feel its time to start seeing critters that look like things you recognize. But not real stuff. Like the ridiculous things from video games, or like...you seen Avatar? That stuff. Crazy sea-lion/turtles. :)

I working on my western dragon right now, just wanted a break. Also got really annoyed when I realized that non-humanoid (bipedal, hands, head w/ face) creatures are not so great once you hit tribal. :(
