Welcome to The Architect ~ Community!
The Simville Town council wishes to take a degraded section of town and create four community lots in which to draw new businesses and residents to their town! They will be your only client throughout the competition, and since the town is flush with a lot of cash due to a recent government grant, there will be no budget limits on any of the lots!
*No sims required or used in this competition. There are no eliminations from this contest. The winner will be determined by the contestant with the highest cumulative point total after all rounds of competition.
General Rules
1.) No photoshopping, adding text, graphics, borders to any submitted photos. Photos may be taken traditionally in-game, or by use of 'printscreen'.
2.) All lots submitted must be new, original designs. There will be no 'flipping' of pre-made Maxis homes allowed, or use of downloaded homes.
3.) All community lots are to be created only on 2x2 size lots!
4.) Any buildings created for contest may have only 2 floors. No attics, no basements.
5.) Pay attention to the requirements for each round as following specific directions counts!

I have just finished building Simville Community Park, and have a question regarding the pictures. I always take my pictures using FRAPS. I play on a notebook, and don't even know if there is a printscreen button. Can I use FRAPS, or do I have to use the in-game camera?
I have to work this afternoon, but will take my pics and post when I get home. This should be a good contest, so hopefully lots join! I can't build houses to save my life, but have knocked up some decent community lots.

MissTech- I know I said I would post when I got home from work, but I am absolutely buggered. I am getting up early in the morning to do uni work and will post then.
I am having a hard time getting the photos, as the lot is so small with so much crammed in. May have to move some things around to get a decent shot!
Oh, and thankyou re. the use of FRAPS!

Here is a park for Simville Town.
It's a quaint little oriental park.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/eternity_magicians/sim%20community%20lots/snapshot_0000002b_56eb53ef.jpg
It includes two benches by the little stream. A bridge spanning the stream. A little fountain. There is a flower covered hill perfect for sitting an rolling on.
Some zen rocks to consider. And for those who are spiritual a shrine is provided. For relaxation the park includes a little onsen to forget your troubles in. And right next to it is a traditional gong. Don't worry about your kids, you can put them in the fenced off kids play center where there are plenty of activities to keep them occupied, having fun, and fit. At the back of the park on each side is a restroom, also useful for changing into your swimsuit for the onsen.

Couldn't resist this contest. I'm failing miserably with my dorm building (see perfect dorm contest) :P But thought I would see if my community lot building was any better.
Here is the Brand new park for Simville Town, This park is perfect for children and adults alike. With a fun hedge maze to keep the children happy, the adults can relax by the tranquil pond. There is a play area, lined with fine wooden chippings so your children can play safe. There is a Toilet block consisting of male and female lavatorys.
With plenty of greenery the simville park offers a peaceful place for you to relax. From beautiful waterfalls to the most wonderful flowers summer could bring this sure is the place to come on a hot summers day. There will be no problems here, with security officers regularly keeping watch and a fence surrounding the perimeter your children will always be safe.
To me it is so important that the park is full of rich colours. It just makes it so much more enjoyable on a day out. The flowers will attract all kinds of wildlife, making the park such a nice environment to relax in.
Views from the park:

The pond has the finest fish, and is often a place where beautiful wildlife can be seen. Includes benches for you to sit on.

Night view (http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-04-1106.jpg)
With the recent cashflow into Simville, it was decided by the Town Council that the first project they would tackle was the local park.
With a large play (http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-04-1107.jpg) area (http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-04-1108.jpg) for children as a major feature, young Sims will be able to play to their hearts content.
The architects favourite feature is the family eating area, specifically designed to promote family bonding and enjoyment.
http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-04-1110.jpg
The architect also favours the chess area (http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-04-1109.jpg) build for those slightly older Sims who like to relax and socialise under the old willow trees.
Finally, a toilet block (http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-04-1111.jpg) was built for the times when a Sim just needs to...go. The toilet block features both male and female restrooms (http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-04-1112.jpg) and the Town employs a cleaning service to maintain cleanliness at all times.
The archietct hopes that the Town Council is happy with the upgrades made to Simville Community Park, but has it on good authority from the Sim residents of Simville that they enjoy the park immensely!

Edit- I ended up putting the no red pause lines hack into my game, and spent the last few hours retaking my photos. I think they look much better without the ugly red lines. Thanks, clw8 for linking to the hack! BTW- I found it difficult enough the first time to take decent shots. Try retaking them and trying to get them exactly the same!

I am wondering how the other contestants don't have the red pause lines around their pictures. The only way I know to get rid of them is to Photoshop them out, which is against the rules. Is there a trick I don't know about?[/i]
erm, I was kinda hoping that getting rid of that in paint would be ok. When I printscreen my pictures into paint I get the whole screen in the pic anyway
(including desktop as i play in windowed mode. so i just use the select tool in paint to select the picture inside the pause line, if that makes sense.
If it is against the rules to trim it to size in paint then I will of course go back and just post the original screen shots including desktop e.c.t.

Well, here it is: My version of the Simville Community Park.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/park1shot4-1.jpg
The most prominent features are of course the pond and, my personal favorite feature, the dock. The pond is well stocked with fish, and the dock hosts two outdoor chess tables and an open area for fishing. The latter is separated from the rest of the dock, which has railing, by gate with a child-proofing lock.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/park1shot2.jpg
Though the park is targeted largely at adults, children are accomodated by a jungle gym near the fancifully decorated bathroom.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/park1shot3.jpg
The flora is simple - a tree surrounded by tall flowers whose name escapes mat the moment and a tall bush.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/park1shot1.jpg
Over all, the park provides a pleasant place to relax for both adults and children.

Okay current (and potential contestants) here is some info on how this contest works and will be judged.
General Judging Info
All contestants have a contestant #, which is given to you in the order in which you entered the contest. Your contestant number will be used to identify you for round results.
The judges will give you a whole number numerical score of between 1 and 10 points for each of 3 areas of judging. These areas are: Requirements, Photos, and Impression. At the end of each round, you will receive a "Ranking" based on your numerical score for that round, as well as any comments from the judges. Rankings/comments will be posted in thread. Judges are not required to make comments.
Once all of the rounds of the contest have finished and been judged, I will post "Final Rankings", which will include all of the contestants' numerical scores from each round of the contest. (See the "Stages of Life" contest or the original "The Architect" contest in the closed contests area for examples.)
Helpful Hints
~ Be on time! Those who fail to post a round, or who post a round past the deadline will be scored a 0 for that round. No exceptions!
~ You are allowed to tweak your entry after it's posted up until the deadline. Any changes made to a posted entry after an official deadline, will also be scored a 0.
~ Make sure you follow the requirements as posted for each round! And if you have any questions about a round- ASK!
~ You are trying to create a full, lush, rich environment! Make sure your photos/written description reflect that!
~ Make sure your photos are clear, you include the number required and are mindful to things that will detract from your photos.
~ Take many photos of your lot from many different angles, then choose the ones that show it off the best!
~ Be creative, be original and be yourself! (Just because someone did well in one of the rounds doesnt mean you should copy their ideas or style!)
~ Keep your eyes on this thread! Should contestants/judges post entries or submit scores in a timely enough manner, we may be able to squeeze a 5th round in! :)

My attempt at a fabulous community park for all the little & big simmies alike :)
I named it Trout Harbor Community Park (In my game, because of the neighborhood it's in), so, I'll just refer to it as THCP, instead of just saying "this park this..." and "this park that...". So, lets get crackin' on all the features . . . .
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000025_36ecca8a.jpg
Upon entering THCP, you'll notice the multch walking trail, playground, restrooms, pond, and seating.
The walking trail: Circles the entire 2x2 lot and offers for a relaxing, enjoyable stroll for the whole family.
Playground: Whether you like to swing, slide, spin round-n-round, hang, or play a game of basketball, the playground is the place for any kid to be! (*Note that since I don't have the correct expansions, that I don't have real equipment aside from the swing*)
Restrooms: Bringing back memories of the old time country outhouses, THCP offers two well maintained porta-johns enclosed by a roofed shelter for additional privacy and comfort. On the outside wall there is also a waterfountain, which is perfect for those blistering hot summer days.
Pond: Adding both appeal and fun, THCP's fish pond is the place to be if you want a quick stop for fish. All fish is yours to keep; we stock the pond once per week.
Seating: Whether you seek sun or shade, you'll surely find comfort on one of THCP's durable plastic benches - say NO to splinters and YES to comfort!
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000025_36eccaf0.jpg
Best feature: Voted the most favored pond in the neighborhood, THCP's fish pond, once again, is the place to be! Come and bring your kids too - make it a family fun evening in the sun!

HyghTyme- I love the dock. It makes the park look so different than the 'traditional' park/playground I envisioned!
clw8- You managed to fit so much in, and your playground looks great, even without AL!
jewaukeela- Though you may be limited somewhat by only having the base game, I'm sure you can still do something great. There is some fabulous CC out there, and if you choose not to download, Woodland Park in Pleasantview has always been one of my favourite base game community lots, so take inspiration from that.

As the hired Architect, I present to the Town Council:
Picnic Park
A welcoming place where Sims can enjoy the company of others, as well as relax and play! This renovated little space was once an abandoned corner of Simville. What was once overgrown and an eyesore to the community is now a place for all Sims. Nestled on a tiny corner lot, this inviting place is a perfect stop on any stroll or for a quick break for the family on the go...
http://www.justaskjack.ca/kitzchy/sims2/SideView_Day_003.jpg
http://www.justaskjack.ca/kitzchy/sims2/SideView_Day_008.jpg
There is a quaint playground right next to the extra large willow tree. The children will love to swing on its branches.
The park's central focus is the eclectic bridge which is surrounded by the most lush and verdant greenery.
Using the flora that was already present, the landscapers added imported plants from lands beyond Simville to create wonderful and breathtaking views from all angles…
http://www.justaskjack.ca/kitzchy/sims2/PanView_Night_002.jpg
At night the park is most inviting: offering seductive lighting, it's a great place for a picnic at the end of the day with a special someone...

I've never built any community lots, this should be fun!
Simville Community Park offers it's visitors a wide range of activities. Whether you want to relax and enjoy the atmosphere or you are parents wanting to get the kids away from the t.v. and computer, the park has what you need!
Local artists can come and enjoy and create works of art. There's an area for those into the preforming arts, come and watch the human statue!
Come and enjoy a picnic at the park. Amenities include a bbq pit, tables and chairs. There is also an area where you can spread a blanket if you want.
http://i39.tinypic.com/2znsw06.jpg
A great feature of the park is a large fountain in the center. Hear the soothing sounds of the water.
http://i39.tinypic.com/2uxza0k.jpg
Let the little ones run free! Parents you can relax and not worry about your children getting lost. The park is completely enclosed and there is only one way out. Check the playground...it will keep your children entertained for hours!

You need a little patience. I update the contest at least once a day, sometimes more, but it does get updated every day. I am typically on very early in the mornings EST. I do try to check again later in the day, but am not always able. Should you post something after I've come on for the day, you may have to wait a bit to see it posted. Patience is a virtue.
If you knew there was a contestant list, because you mentioned you werent on it, why make a suggestion that I create a list with clickable links to entries when there is already one there which you had seen. I have been running contests on this site for years and need no help or suggestions on how to run one.
You need to read through the thread before asking questions. I try to be very thorough and answer your questions before you have them, so look through and read the thread and you are likely to find your answer already posted. Are there eliminations? (http://forums.sims-community.com/showpost.php?p=1338461&postcount=1 target="_blank) The answer is in big bold letters right at the top of the post.
And before you ask, no, there will be no eliminations from the contest no matter how many contestants enter. I dont like eliminations because then someone who is new to contests, learning to do pictures and such loses their chance to pratice, learn and get better, so I try to not have eliminations in any of the contests I run. (Plus, usually the best rounds of a contest are the last rounds, and I always hated being eliminated before I had a chance to do the rounds I was looking forward to the most.)

As you can see in this corner here, there is a quaint little pond for fishing. Theres also benches to sit and just watch the world go by. And nestled in the corner is a little water feature pond, which is home to a pair of frogs!
And if you look to your right, you can see the dining/bbq area.
View 2

Here we have the childrens play area, complete with benches so mums and dads are never too far away.
And the building to your right are the restrooms. Complete with all ameneties aswell as baby changing facilities.
Favourite Feature
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d107/chowgilly/untitled69.jpg
Now, this has to be my favourite part of the park. It is a delightful little fountain, sat among some beautiful yellow rose bushes. And the sound of the flowing water will help to wash away the days stresses.
However, it hasnt been turned on yet. Its waiting for the opening ceremony, and for the mayor of Simville to flip the switch.
Overview
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d107/chowgilly/untitled66.jpg
As you can see there are lots of trees and landscaping. Theres a small space left which could be used for many things. Maybe some chess tables or room for a performance artist.
Hope this is ok, its only my second building contest so far, im used to beauty ones :D

Simville Community Park-- A nice little piece of tropical oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle of life. A meandering stream, featuring Swans and Ducks swimming amongst the flowering vegetation. A spot for all different sims on the go, from the peaceful Gazebo in the back, to the hot dog ad lemonade stand in the front. The park also boasts a small play area for the little ones, while the parents drink in the tranquility. So stop in and watch the fountain spray into the air, the bumble bees buzz around the flowers, the kiddies playing on the merry-go-round, and the wildlife. Or just stop in to use the facilities and have hot dogs and lemonade.

I'm not sure about that...but to get rid of the gridlines in your pictures while you are in build mode before you press the tab key, press R. That should get rid of your gridlines. After you press the tab key to put it into free camera mode, use the Z button for zoom and W to get even closer. I hope that helps.

Well I think it was neat creating on the 2x2 lot - Ithink it was a challenge and really made you think about what you were going to place where (and how!)
Maybe you could implement a 'handicap' for those using 2x3 lots? Say they have to leave 'x' number of tiles bare around the lot edges to 'simulate' (hahah 'sim' :P) a 2x2 lot
just a thought :)

Welcome to Port Ashbere Park, located in well...Port Ashbere, for the new residents to enjoy. It features a chess area, walking path, gazebo and a play-area for children (and teenagers who like to hang out), with benches for the parents to wait and a washroom for those who desperately need to go potty and won't make it home in time. There's also a lovely view of Port Ashbere's growing harbor, best viewed from either the gazebo or the tower in the play-area.

Hi everyone,
Just a quick update! The entries are looking great so far! Now there is a little over 24 hrs left for new contestants to enter and for those contestants already in to tweak their entries. Some of you with the smaller shots may want to try to post a little bit larger ones so the judges can see your entries to their best potential.
Otherwise, look for the round to close around 10am (Eastern time) tomorrow morning. Your next round will also be posted up around that same time. Judges are given 48 hours to submit scores, so look for Round 1 results to be posted at some time on Saturday. (or sooner if the judges are quick!) :)

It's amazing to see so many different lots made from one description!
I agree completely! That is what has been the most fun about the Perfect Dorm contest- to see a very basic description given and how differently people interpret them. Its nice to see how creative everyone can be.
I am glad you're all looking forward to the cafe, that should be a fun round for everyone. Well, hopefully! :)
Maybe you could implement a 'handicap' for those using 2x3 lots? Say they have to leave 'x' number of tiles bare around the lot edges to 'simulate' (hahah 'sim' ) a 2x2 lot
When you say "for those using 2x3 lots" are you referring to that lot stretching thing/cheat/hack? Ive had that as a problem in other contests where a certain lot size is required. What exactly does the lot stretcher thing add? I am not familiar with it because I dont use it in my own game, so my 2x2 lots are true 2x2 lots. As far as some handicap for those using it, I dont know what I could do other than ask them to remove that from their game to make true 2x2 lots, but I think that could mess up someone's game, so I wouldnt want to ask that. The only other handicap would be to dock points and I dont think that would really be fair either.
So, hmmmm, tough one.... Well let me ask you contestants to be honest and tell me how many of you are using that lot stretching thingy?

When you say "for those using 2x3 lots" are you referring to that lot stretching thing/cheat/hack? ....
You know I honestly think I misunderstood the question. My apologies. In the original contest description I had thought it said something like: " '2x3' for those who dont have 2x2 lots..."
So that is where my suggestion stemmed from. Again, sorry for the confusion...just ignore my silly post up there... :doh

Here's my version of Simville community park, its a nice place for children and adults.
When you come in, on your left, there is a small but beautiful lake, behind this, there's a path which conducts to the relax area, which is separated to the play area for children by big trees and shrubs for the ones who don't want to listen to the children's noise.
In the centre of the park there is the rest room (men and woman separated); on the right side of this, there is the play area for children on sand. Nearby there's the chess area for their parents, so while their children are playing they can relax without living them alone.
The park is fully decorated with varius kind of flowers, trees and shrubs.

This is the part prefer to the most, the relax area behind the lake:

My park has a little bit for everyone. There is a pool for all the teens and adults to hangout. On the other side of the park there is a playground with a sandbox. Also there is a deck to cook and to eat on. Trees and flowers surround the deck and give it an elegant feel.

Finally, FINALLY it's finished!   Yay! So anyway, here goes. (PS I know we weren't supposed to have this many pictures, but they are attachments so it's okay.:))
Welcome to Simville Community Treehouse, the perfect place to play, rest, and swing. (http://i39.tinypic.com/2gtaeqt.jpg)
As you can see, the Treehouse is quite large. However, every bit of space is used wisely. The larger size allows for three main areas: A dining (http://i42.tinypic.com/dpd84w.png) porch (http://i41.tinypic.com/123xy6h.png), a "jungle" room (http://i40.tinypic.com/rje891.jpg) , and a cozy (http://i41.tinypic.com/50gr43.png) romantic den (http://i43.tinypic.com/pyna1.jpg) . In order to get from place, you walk, climb, and dance your way along...
Swinging bridges! (http://i40.tinypic.com/2ibjbpi.jpg)
If you feel the need to use the necessary, there's a large, comfortable bathroom (http://i42.tinypic.com/jjsbdk.jpg) located in the corner of the park. It is outfitted with 6 stalls per gender, plus a changing table and a "little sim's room" with several potties.
If you'd prefer your little tykes taken care of by someone else, look no farther than the kid's play area (http://i39.tinypic.com/2ujnxmx.png). The play area, in addition to being manned by three trained babysitters at all times of day, includes a drawing table with chairs for the little ones, a swingset (not pictured), a "fishing hole" where they can "fish" for wooden koi, and a shady area where they can nap on soft, soft grass. If your child is just not up to high bridges and porches, they can find solace in this mini-treehouse (http://i42.tinypic.com/oh72c4.png) complete with a porch, bridge, and lookout tower.
You may have noticed that the tree house is situated mostly over water (http://i42.tinypic.com/xo36mh.jpg) , but did you notice the dozens of beautiful, multicolored koi that weave in and out of the reeds? They are the residents of Sunlit Stream, and we do ask that you not fish to feed in the stream. If you would like to, please do so in the pond behind the restrooms which is restocked every week.
Some other aspects of SCT are:
+ it is completely powered by the stream and the air!
+ it is the only park in Simville to offer dining and childcare!
+ it is the first public building in Simville to run completely on renewable resources!
+ we offer daily classes such as yoga, jogging, drawing, and tree climbing!
Thank you ladies and gentlemen for taking time to come visit Simville's new Community Treehouse, and I hope I will see you on opening night!

Okay, this is my first contest AND my first time sharing pictures of what I've built.... so be gentle, and let me know if I've done anything wrong....
After extended delenquent taxes, the city has reposesed Maybury Estate and is converting the grounds into a series of comercial and recreational facilities: the first is Maybury Botanical Gardens.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd1_04.jpg
The Park is doninated by a romantic old victorian green house. The upper level balcony sports a chess table and telescope that can be enjoyed year round in warmth and comfort. Bathrooms facilities are available in the lower level as well as a community garden space where nature oriented sims can practice planting seeds and tending the lemon tree.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd1_02.jpg
When the weather is nice, vistors to the park can prepare hotdogs or hamburgers on the grill, then dine in the shade of broad umbrellas. The tables offer a fine vantage from which to view the pond, or spy on neighbors making use of either of the two seating areas.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd1_05E.jpg
Those who are artistically inclined will be excited to find an easel set up to capture the lovely views of Maybury Botanical Garden, as well as the perfect seat for their subject!
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd1_03.jpg
Also included in the park, but not pictured, is a modern playground in case nature just isn't exciting enough.
And the extra pictures I cant help posting:

Good morning town council, I am here to present Simville Community Park to you. This park is designed to accommodate the entire family, because community means families. First you will notice Simville Community Park contains a sandy play area for those smaller sims. A quite area to relax and watch the frog pond; just perfect for elder sims. Simville Community Park also hosts chess championships monthly, for all those logic loving sims There is a public restroom located near the play area, it is cleaned daily. Lastly this park, all tho small, has kept plenty of open room for various activities: bird watching, fetch, catch, tag, water balloon fights, etc... Thank you.

ROUND 2~ SIMVILLE FRENCH QUARTER CAFE
The Town Council feels that Simville needs a little touch of class and an upscale French Cafe for the adults is what they have in mind. They insist on there being a building that offers coffee-seekers both indoor and outdoor seating. And of course, public restrooms are a MUST! The Council also feels that, perhaps in addition to the Cafe, some other type of shop/s should be there to grab the patrons' interest and simoleons! The Council is not sure what that shop/s should be, and are leaving that decision up to you!
Lot Requirements for Round 2
1.) Use of a 2x2 lot.
2.) Building may not be more than 2 usable stories tall, not including the roof.
3.) No basements allowed. Foundations may be used.
4.) French style cafe/lot. (For some examples click here (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=french+style+cafe&gbv=2 target="_blank))
5.) Building itself need not take up the whole lot. (Unless you want it to!)
6.) All exterior landscaping complete.
7.) All interior decor complete.
Materials that need to be submitted for Round 2:
1.) Your name and the Round # in the subject bar
2.) 1 photo of your lot taken from the front
3.) 1 overhead photo (with roof removed) for each floor of your building
4.) 3-4 photos of your lot's favorite or special features
5.) A short written description of your lot and all of it's amenities.
Your Round 2 entries are due by Thursday, April 23rd @ 10:00AM EST! (Round will close early if all entries are posted prior to that.)

Round 1 now officially closed and accepting no new contestants!
Contestants: Round 1 is officially now in judging! Good luck to all of you! You should be proud of yourselves for a great effort in this Round. Expect to see Round 1 results posted sometime on Saturday, if not before should I have all scores back quickly! Your Round 2 information has been posted and you may begin! Good luck and have fun with Round 2! :)
EDIT: On a personal note, I must say that I was blown away by many of the entries posted for Round 1. I typically do not comment on entries in my contests because I do not want to seem bias towards or against any contestant. I don't want anyone to feel that I don't appreciate their efforts in this contest because I am not making comments on their entries. :)

Le Café Bleu, located in Simville's historic French Quarter, is a high-class coffee shop and restaurant that has been in operation for nearly a hundred years, though this building is not the original - that burned down in the great Fire of '38.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/cafe1shot2.jpg
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/cafe1shot3.jpg
The cafe prides itself on its eclectic atmosphere, most recenltly including a few Asian touches.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/cafe1shot4.jpg
A conversation circle, consisting of mismatched but non-clashing seating, is always full. Some of Simville's top artistic figures are frequently seen discussing their latest projects here.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/cafe1shot6.jpg
The exterior features a covered area, usable in rain or shine, and a charcol brazier, often used during the winter by customers with hot chocolate and complementary marshmallows.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/cafe1shot5.jpg
By popular request, a chef's table was added during the last renovation. Here, VIP customers, or anyone else who can afford it, can watch the action in the kitchen and be served by our classically trained French chef himself.
All in all, this renovation of Le Café Bleu has been highly successful, and praised by the vast majority of customers.
EDIT: After reviewing the guidelines set by the council, the HyghTyme firm has realized they did not provide an additional shopping opportunity. However, Le Café Bleu is a historical site, and we don't want to turn it into a mini-mall. We believe the solution we are offering will please all parties.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/cafe1shot7.jpg
Le Café Bleu will now be offering a selection of its famed baked goods as take home items for customers, allowing them to enjoy the cafe's sophistication in more intimate surroundings.
Amendment to floor plan:

Comments From Town Council
Contestant #1 [66/90]
~ I really like the landscaping in your park. However, your photos are very small and gridlines are showing in the first picture. Keep this in mind for the next round.
~ Gridlines show in one pic, pics are too small to see details very well. Love the vibrant colors.
Contestant #2 [82/90]
~ I love the rich colors in the landscaping. I feel that more could have been added for the adults in Simville, however.
~ I liked the terrains you used.
Contestant #3 [80/90]
~ I adore the family eating area! More landscaping could have been done, otherwise great!
~ It looks like this is a good park for children to enjoy themselves. The only nit-picker I have is the light posts seem to be lighting up the lots surrounding the park instead of being inside the lot.
Contestant #4 [70/90]
~ Way more could have been done to the children's play area. The dock area is very creative; well done!
~ I would have liked to see more entertainments for children.
Contestant #5 [84/90]
~ Very simple, yet nice. I love the pond.
~ Good use of your available objects for children to enjoy their park experience.
Contestant #6 [58/90]
~ I love the gazebo! Your park is great, however, your photos are very small and don't quite give a clear view of it. Your gridlines were showing in every picture, which also doesn't show off your park well. Next time, just try to make your photos a little better.
~ Pics are full of grid lines and rather small, hard to see details.
Contestant #7 [77/90]
~ I adore the bridge over the pond! Photos could have been a bit bigger.
~ Your park is well done but it just seems lopsided; all the activities are mostly on one side. But you have provided a good amount of entertainments for Sims at your park.
Contestant #8 [61/90]
~ I'm so impressed with your work! The treehouse idea was brilliant, I must say. One suggestion I have for you is to, if you can, set your in-game graphics to high while you take the photos. Low graphic settings don't quite show all the detail.
~ Requirements for photo’s in post was not met. I was disappointed in your provided activity for children since children do not go to the park to sit at a table and color.
Contestant #9 [82/90]
~ I love the lush landscaping and the fountain in the center! Well done.
~ The only thing I would’ve done different is put the chess tables in the empty lawn space on the side by the restrooms. The park flows around the center fountain quite nicely.
Contestant #10 [81/90]
~ I love the benches in the playing area. Good job!
~ Same as #9 about the fountain. The “materials” all go together nicely.
Contestant #11 [80/90]
~ Photos were way too bright and kind of small. I love the landscaping and bridge over the pond.
~ Good job on your landscaping. I would’ve liked to see some description with the separate pics since I am unsure which is your favorite area.
Contestant #12 [77/90]
~ Lovely park! The gazebo is great. Try not to get any red pause lines in your photos next time.
~ I like the landscaping, the only problem I’m really having is I can’t tell if there’s a spot without foliage or trees blocking the way that Sims can get at the pond if they wish to fish.
Contestant #13 [76/90]
~ I love the relax area! Well done.
~ All the colors look so much more brighter and greener against the flagstone walks.
Contestant #14 [62/90]
~ You did not include a restroom, and that was required. The park was also quite generic, it didn't strike me as very unique. Next time, try to make your photos close to the same size and not so mismatched. Great job!
~ Oh-oh, no restrooms.
Contestant #15 [87/90]
~ I love the house and the various things to do! Well done.
~ Beautiful. I almost gave you a perfect score except for diagonal objects that I wasn’t sure if they were playable or not.
Contestant #16 [80/90]
~ I love the sand play area. Good job!
~ Good flow and plenty of space between objects for Sims to be able to move about.

Just a question for MissTech- are we able to have a numerical score, and a breakdown on how we scored in each section? That way we are able to see where we can improve?

As I mentioned in Judging Info (http://forums.sims-community.com/showpost.php?p=1341531&postcount=36 target="_blank) post, you get your "Rankings" which are based on numerical scores each round, but I dont post actual scores until the end of the contest. At the end of the contest I post every numerical score from each judge, totals, and ranks for each contestant for each round.
If I were posting scores I would only post a total, (like was done in the Perfect Dorm contest) and not a breakdown of everything anyway. (Full breakdown of score would still come at the contest's end.) I suppose I could be persuaded to post up a total (for example: [--/90]) if the majority of you would like that, or think receiving a number will somehow help you improve more than with the judges comments alone.

ohh! yay! and my first contest too!!! (does a very silly dance)
A question, or more of a confirmation really:
I assume I can build a first floor and pretend its a foundation provided it doesn't have windows, is not accessable, and contains no stuff (except for maybe Inge's cat or something like that). I'm making this assumption based on the fact that I could just build a foundation that was that height, but for reasons that are somewhat complicated (and involve the lot adjuster) I don't want to do that.
So yes? No?
oh! and this may have been answered already, but can we take our photos of the lots in use or is it strictly no sims allowed?

We have for the Town Council a brilliant cafe and flower shop, along with a greenhouse chapel nestled in the rear of the lot.
An eatery which boasts the best chef in town, a flower shop (http://www.justaskjack.ca/kitzchy/sims2/FLWRS-01-R2.jpg) that rivals others, and chapel for those so inclined -this place is sure to meet the city's needs!
Here, in this quaint little getaway, local townsfolk can enjoy a bite to eat (http://www.justaskjack.ca/kitzchy/sims2/SVF-Nite-01-R2.jpg) with their friends while watching pedestrians pass by, or even perusing the abundant greenery should they choose. Coffee lovers can hang out (http://www.justaskjack.ca/kitzchy/sims2/STGV-03-R2.jpg) by the stand and read the daily news on the hip-chic stools.
The chapel is very unique and is touted by the workers on the lot as'La Chapelle de Fleurs' (http://www.justaskjack.ca/kitzchy/sims2/GH-Nite-02-R2.jpg) or, 'The Chapel of Flowers'. Surrounded in the most elegant flowers in all of Simville, it is a site that any young girl would love to be wed in.

Jewaukeela, your picture quality isn't that terrible, your photos just need to be a bit bigger, IMO. Also, while taking pictures, try to put your graphics up a bit higher. Not only will it make your photos clearer and better, but it will also show the little details of your work. I realize sometimes that can't be done, but if you can it would definitely help.

Welcome to the French Quarter Cafe
Although the French Quarter Cafe's main feature is coffee, of course, it also serves as a small adult entertainment complex. If you aren't the one for coffee, you may also find pleasure from the small movie theatre, which plays nonstop airings of old time favorites. Additionally, the clothes store next door may also "suit" you, as it sales quality, classy, adult sized clothing at a descent price. However, if you aren't the one to spend a lot of money, or, if you don't wish to do anything more than to have a place to read a paper or book, the scenic outdoor patio area is the perfect place to be. It is mainly used by customers from the cafe, however, the public is welcome to rest at the tables furthest from the cafe.

All the cafes around town are just plain boring with not piazza. They all look about the same. Then you see my cafe. My cafe is full of life and is very elegant. It has a classic French style and has something for everyone to enjoy.

OH yes I feel only appropriate to give some warning here. If I don't post my entry please note it is not that I just don't care, I'm pregnant and not due until June but have been having some problems, so if I just go *POOF* that means I am in the hospital.

Take care of yourself beatnikbunny. Stick a footstool under your puter desk so you can fake it when they tell you to stay off your feet. JK. Go the clinic or hosptital the minute something seems off. Better to be safe than sorry. My last kid, the cramps started before I was a month pregnant and kept getting progressively worse the whole time to the point that the day I had him, the only reason I knew I was actually in labor was my water broke as I was on my way to the bathroom at home.

MissTech, is it okay if my lot doesn't have the chefs stove? For some weird reason and I had no idea there was even a problem...but I can see my chefs stove, but when I click on it and try and put it on a lot, it won't show up! I haven't figured out what is wrong with it yet. It's weird though, I went to some other restaurants in my game and the stove is there on those lots.

easypeaze- the round guidelines don't state we *have* to have the chefs stove. Going by that, and that if you didn't have OFB, I'd say it would be okay if it wasn't on the lot.

As you can see the exterior and interior of building itself is made of 100 year old reclaimed stone. The cafe itself has indoor, outdoor eating areas. Next to the building is a small vintage bakery. All the bread and goodies are baked fresh daily. The bakery will provide the community, with wedding cakes and birthday cakes as well. Upstairs you will find an area where you can play pinball and darts. The restrooms are located up there as well.

Welcome to Cafe' Du' Simville. Our little hideaway from the rigors of life. Are you hungry? Thirsty? Maybe just want to hear some great music or talk to some friends. Then this is the place. Sit down amidst the tranquil trickle of the fountains, and the scent of perfumed flowers all around you. Enjoy that cup of coffee and pastry, or have something with a little more punch, while listening to some good and not so good music. Ahhh, breathe in and relax.
First off, the most important building, the cafe itself. With it world class pastry chef and cook. Sit outside, or hang out at the counter. Of course there are the most important rooms to a Sim, besides food.

Introducing La coffee shop.(I don't know much french) Here we provide a warm and cosy setting for you to relax whilst enjoying a cup of coffee or tea. With an outside seating area, a balcany, a water feature and loads of beautiful flowers and greenery, this really is the place to hang out. Downstairs there are comfy sofa's for you to sit back and relax, and a modern coffee bar. If you walk up the beautiful spiral staircase you will find yet another delight. Upstairs is a traditional farmers market style produce shop. It stocks flour, milk, coffee ( hundreds of brands of coffee ) as well as other herbs and things. Through the large arch is another small dining area with tables, as well as the door leading to the balcany. With so much to offer, this is the place to come with freinds after a hard day's work. A beautiful atmousphere, and wonderful coffee what more could you want?
Main shot of the lot:

Favourite Pictures:

The main bar area, is both modern and traditionaly themed at the same time, With rich brown colours, its soft and neutral. I used pictures of the eifel tower (of course) and provided lots of sofas, so people can relax
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj275/bolt660/COFFFSHOT1.jpg
It is through this arch that you can find the shop. With a rustic feel to it, it serves its purpose well and fits into the traditional theme I wanted.
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj275/bolt660/COFFESHOT3.jpg
I wanted to make a small relaxing area outside for when it is summer. There are 2 small water features to make it the perfect setting amongst the beautiful plants.

Hey everyone,
Okay, updated the contestant list with the latest posted entries. If I missed anyone, please let me know. Again, sorry I missed a couple of days from being ill, and now I am having problems with my dial-up connection! We had storms in the area last night and there is something wrong with the phone lines that is keeping from getting a decent connection, or a connection at all. (Right now working with a 33.6- terrible!)
Wanted to answer some questions:
~Ok there is no requirement for any type of cooker/stove or whatever.
~Please keep your photos limited to what is required and no more. I see that people like to put links to extra photos of their lots, which is fine, but you are only being judged on what is posted in the thread in the entry. Judges cannot take into consideration all of the extra linked photos into their scores.
~ Beatnikbunny- Take care of yourself and rest when you need to and certainly do not stress out about this contest! If you need to, and this goes for any and all contestants, you can skip a round. You wont be eliminated from the contest, though you would score a 0 for that round, you most certainly could continue on with other rounds if you feel up to it. Most of all take good care of yourself and that baby first and Congratulations! :)
~ Some of you wanted to see your numerical scores for the first round and I said if a majority of you wanted that, I would post up only a total )[--/90] for you. Several of you expressed that interest, so I edited the Round 1 Results post to give you that total score.
Okay, that is it for now. (I think!) Still have about 7 contestants that need to post their Round 2 entry, and there is about 46 hours left for you guys to do that! :)

Port Ashbere, as a growing neighbourhood, is always looking for new amenities. The town council has therefore approved the following design for the food district. As the property has not been purchased by a resident to run, it is still called the French Cafe.
This building hosts a full restaurant, with both indoor and outdoor dinning (weather permitting), a bakery with freshly baked dessert available all day long, an easel and chair for portrait work to be done and an indoor garden which boasts of 3 fruit trees and many garden plots for organic vegetables (if wished by the owner).
The kitchen for the dinning area, has enough space for 2 chefs to work uninterrupted. The kitchen on the 2nd floor of the bakery is an open concept kitchen to allow the smell of the baked goods to waft down and entice the potential customers.

SimVille French Quarter Cafe
The Town Council feels that Simville needs a little touch of class and an upscale French Cafe for the adults is what they have in mind. They insist on there being a building that offers coffee-seekers both indoor and outdoor seating. And of course, public restrooms are a MUST! The Council also feels that, perhaps in addition to the Cafe, some other type of shop/s should be there to grab the patrons' interest and simoleons! The Council is not sure what that shop/s should be, and are leaving that decision up to you!
(The Architect would like to inform the Town Council that a Good Witch (http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-04-2013-53-26-60.jpg) stopped by to visit the Cafe during playtesting!)

The SimVille French Quarter Cafe was designed to provide a relaxed, sophisticated, enjoyable and affordable dining experience for the residents of SimVille.
The cafe features both indoor and outdoor seating. Whew! The Maybury is proving to be an expensive restoration project, so the city has decided to lease some of the space to recoup the costs. A couple has rented the front of the estate:
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd2_01.jpg
Louie Molyneux has converted the main floor and the patio into a charming French style café. His wife Sahana Patil runs a hookah lounge on the top floor. Also, the city has reserved a small public space outside, which it will keep open to the community.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd2_07.jpg
The city’s community space consists of a romantic seating area around a fountain: perfect for dates.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd2_03.jpg
When you get hungry, just head up the steps to Louie’s. Outside, patrons can take in lovely views of the foliage but are protected from the elements by broad umbrellas.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd2_02.jpg
Inside, the same delicious fare is available at booths, tables, and the bar. Like all good restraunts, it has a two well apointed bathrooms as well as a sumptuous waiting lounge.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd2_05.jpg
If your tastes run a little wilder (or more decadent) hike up one more flight to Sanskrit, to enjoy “bubbles” or a little karaoke.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd2_04.jpg
Notes about this lot:
That first floor is a foundation, just a really tall foundation.
It IS a 2x2 lot, it has been shrunk using the Lot Expander. If you would like to see how the lots for this contest fit together, here (http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd2_01E.jpg).
In case it matters: The restaurant bubble-blowers, and the karaoke all work (there were questions before).

easypeaze/tenielle- thanks for the compliments!
Yeah, I love the lot adjuster. I'm a row house fanatic. It only just occured to me to use it to subdivide a large complex like that. (slaps forehead) I like lots small, especially the community ones, to cut down on load times so that I actually use them. 2x2 actually feels huge to me.
chowgilly- I just wanted to say how much I like that layout of the sectional booths, it creates such nice lines. I'll have to remeber that for the future.

ROUND 3 ~ SIMVILLE TEEN RECREATION CENTER
The Town Council wants to provide the local teenagers something to do other than hang out, so they desire a Teen Recreation Center to be built next. The Council wants the building to be a modern design that will draw the teenagers in and keep them off the streets! There must be a 2 story building that allows for activities in inclimate weather, but there also should be a variety of outdoor activities for when the weather is nice. Mindfull planning will help greatly because aside from the required separate boys & girls restrooms, the Council wants an area/room where classes (be it art, dance, cooking, mechanics, etc) can be offered to the kids who want to learn. The Council understands this is a challenge but is assured that you can create something that both they and the local teens will love!
Lot Requirements for Round 3
1.) Use of a 2x2 lot.
2.) Building may not be more than 2 usable stories tall, not including the roof.
3.) No basements allowed. Foundations may be used.
4.) Modern design lot.
5.) Indoor and outdoor activity areas targeted for the teen age group.
6.) All exterior landscaping complete.
7.) All interior decor complete.

You dont have to drop out if you dont want to just because you missed a round. You, unfortunately, will score a 0 for Round 2, but you are most certainly welcome to continue. I know that might be tough with a new baby, but if you want to continue, you can. :)

Congratulations beatnikbunny!
Here are the floor plans for the new Simville Teen Recreation Center:
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/teencenter1.jpg
Note that the little block on the right doesn't have its own floor plan shot because all that's in it is a spiral staircase. I would argue that this is not a floor, but part of the roof. The walls and roof over the stairs are just there so that rain can't get into the second floor. If I'm wrong about this, please tell me so that I can redo this round. The roof itself features a basketball court and some lounging chairs, and some of the kids have set up a near-permanent break dancing spot.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/teencenter2.jpg
The second floor has the cooking classroom and an eating and dancing area, the latter of which is in frequent use on Friday and Saturday nights. There is also a balcony with additional seating.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/teencenter3.jpg
The first floor has two additional classrooms, the computer center, and access to the pool via the combined changing/bathrooms.
And the classrooms:
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/teen7.jpg
Painting has its own room, with good light and room for a model or, as shown here, a still life arrangement. The easels are foldable and take up very little space in their collapsed form. The next room over is for general crafts classes as well as unguided woodworking, pottery, and sewing (the local high school Fashion Society holds their annual show here, though they do most of their work at home). All art on the walls of both rooms is student work, and the painting classroom is sometimes used for other things, such as club meetings and parties.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/8teen7.jpg
The cooking class room has three student areas and a teacher's demonstration station. Four groups of four can work here, though the preferred class size is twelve, since it does get a bit cramped.
Features:
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/TEEN9.jpg
The second floor dining space doesn't have any food services other than the vending machines, but bag lunches are welcome and the rec center has a special discount deal with a popular pizza and sub delivery place.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/TEEN10.jpg
The pool in the back is popular with all ages, and has a fountain donated by a local artist who sometimes teaches classes at the center.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/teen11.jpg
The computer center has older model computers, but since they're for internet use rather than gaming, they're perfectly adequate There's also the welcome desk, which is always staffed by a volunteer adult (Too much supervision is insulting, but none is stupid. There are always three or four adults, mostly volunteers, around.) who makes sure, among other things, that no one is watching pornos on the computers. Other than that, there are no blocks the computers other than sites known to carry trojans.
Front view:
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/TEEN12.jpg
First: the white things on the first floor are lights.
Second: What I've tried to do with my building for this round is to make a building that is functional and aesthetically pleasing, but which also isn't too unrealistic. I believe I succeed, please vote for me for President of the United States. Or something. I'm sorry, been watching far foo much South Park.

This center is all about the teens. It has everything a teen would want and parents would love. This recreation center has a sports and music theme. There is a large room with a pool table, tv, couch, and video games. There is a music rooms where classes are offered to learn how to play guitar and how to sing. Outside there is a quarter and half pipe. Also, there is a little bar with fruit juice.

Welcome to the Teen Recreation Center!
Est. April 24, 2009, SVTRC is the new talk of the town. For years upon years, teens of Simville have had only the local mall to hang out at. With the constantly rising gas prices, what teen needs to be out wasting all of their money? That's where SVTRC comes in handy. Providing a co-ed daily rec center for all teens alike. The building, though co-ed, has separate rooms for the girls and they guys, however, members of the opposite gender are promitted in the others side. The 4 classes offered are targeted toward a specific gender, however, either gender may participate in each and everyone. SVTRC offers classes in the areas of 'Performing Arts' and 'Creative Arts'. Ballet and band are offered for performing, while art and woodshop are offered for creative.
Besides class rooms and separate lounge rooms, SVTRC also offers a nice sized pool (with water slide), and a basketball and volleyball net. More active sims may be interested in the weekly classes that are offered for swimming, basketball, and volleyball, and in the future, we hope to have our own sports curriculum that includes a 'team' for each of the three. Any teen interested may have the chance to represent the rec center in games against other rec centers and schools.
Also, since all the hard work and fun will have you hungry and thirsty, SVTRC supplies two vending machines filled with healthy food and drink choices in both. Thus, eliminating the desire to leave the center and wonder hopelessly around town, in search of the tastiest fast food establishment.
None the less, SVTRC hopes that you will enjoy your stay, and come back soon - bring a friend too!

clw8- I think what jewaukeela meant is that you have given the girls and boys stereotypical activities, like schools and such did 40-50 years ago (girls get sewing, boys get woodwork kind of thing), and she suggested that you have 'classroom 1 & 2' so the activities are not restricted by gender, and that the girls can do carpentry and the boys can do ballet if they desire. However, as it is your entry, if that is how you want it, you shouldn't change it. (I happen to love your lot ;) )

The centre is in a modern style and it has been built thinking especially of creative people.
Before entering the center there is a little swimming pool, close to this you can find a relaxing area with two sofabeds.
http://i41.tinypic.com/2z4d7va.jpg
When you enter the centre, in the middle of the room there is a big aquarius which give off a blue/violet light visible particularly at night.
http://i40.tinypic.com/ndsrya.jpg
Going past the entrance there is an area where it is possible to read or play the piano, connected to this there is the equipped painting class.
http://i39.tinypic.com/2iurdl.jpg
http://i42.tinypic.com/1z39vep.jpg
From the entrance you can go to the first floor where there are male and female restrooms. Near these there are two vending machine. In the first area of this floor there are three video games and a stereo, when it is on it is possible to listen to music all over the centre thanks to the speakers located in every room of the centre.
A desk with computers separates this from the play room with a guitar and a drum.
From here, you can access to the veranda where there is a relaxing whirlpoolbath.

Quote From My Post:
The 4 classes offered are targeted toward a specific gender, however, either gender may participate in each and everyone.
The whole Separate classroom thing only came about because of one building having the guys lounge and lockerroom below it, whilst the other have the girls lounge and lockerroom under it. However, I know that in community lots, sims are going to be everywhere... thus, it was just an idea and stuck to it, is all.

The SimVille Teen Recreation Centre was established to provide a fun, safe, enjoyable environment for the teens of SimVille. Situated in a converted warehouse, the rec centre's sleek exterior and minimalist landscaping is designed to appeal to the teens and bring them off the streets.
http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-04-3003-15-20-20.jpg

The ground floor of the rec centre offers an open-plan common area, where teens can socialise together, dance to the jukebox, play arcade games, or use the computers, which have a variety of games installed and have access to the internet. Seperate girls and boys bathrooms are available, which also feature showers, where teens can cool down and clean up after a game of soccer or basketball.
http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-04-3003-13-53-34.jpg
The top floor of the rec centre features a dining room and kitchen, where ravenous teens may fill their bellies to their hearts content. The rec centre hires a cook during the day, but teens may help themselves to the amnenities after hours.
http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-04-3003-11-34-56.jpg
In recognising that teens need a creative outlet, and won't be interested in the structured lessons they sit through all day at school, the rec centre offers art classes in the fully stocked and newly equipped art room. Teens may take lessons in painting, pottery or toy making, and are able to take home any art pieces they create. The rec centre is always looking at ways in which to expand their activities, and are looking at introducing robotics and drawing when more funding becomes available.

Welcome to The Simville Teen Recreation Center. Here we aim to provide not only a fun place for teens to hang out, but also a place where they can relax and unwind from the stresses of school. Upon entering the Center, they are welcomed by such beautiful plants, and waterfalls. There is a large pond full of many species of fish, and a large deck so that they can actually go fishing! The Building itself aims to be very modern, with a beautiful abstract exterior paint, as well as lots of windows to make it more modern and also more spacious inside. Other features include, A barbeque and patio set so friends can chill out on a bench whilst eating a hotdog- or maybe even a fish they have caught themselves!
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj275/bolt660/frontofrec.jpg
There are 2 fully equiped classrooms in th center. One offers music lessons on a wide variety of instruments, including drums, guitars, voice and piano, and students will not only learn in this room, but music is also a great interactive social way of them to make friends and have fun.
The other classroom(pictured) that we offer, is a specialist course in geography. Students will get to know the world around them, and in doing so will become more aware of their status as a citizen. The room features all the neccasery tools to make learning interactive as well as constructive.

Back outside the center, pupils have an opertunity to go fishing in the pond, admire the beautiful wildlife, and also have great barbeque parties. We have many benches on site, and the most wonderfull flowers.
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj275/bolt660/reclandscape.jpg
The Center has 2 Lavatorys, for male and female's and both suit a very modern and unique style. They are spacious, clean and up to date, so going to the toilet will be a very nice experience.
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj275/bolt660/Rectoilets.jpg
Here we have the "pool" room, although other actuivities are often done here. There are display cabinets showing off acheivements proudly as well as good lighting which is essential for the game.

Here is an overview of the Ground floor:

And here is one of the First floor:

Aside from the pictures shown, The center offers far more activities for your teens, and there is also a very nice coffee/small diner, where the teens gather to eat, drink and socialise. With vending machines and plenty of coffee on offer they can really relax here.
So as you can see, the Simville Teen Recreation center not only offers fun and plenty to do for the teens, but does so in a very mature manner to give them the "adult" freedom they desire, we feel if treated like adults and allowed to socialise in a wonderfully kept, and clean conditions, they can have fun and unwind at the same time.

As of yet, this newly constructed Teen Recreation Centre is unnamed but it's purpose is clear, to keep the teens occupied and off the street. The Rec Centre offers exercise equipment, basketball court, lounge, kitchen classroom, computers, pool table, art classroom and instruments for the musically inclined (or at least wish the were).

Welcome to Simville Teen Hall:
Well, once again here with picture taking issues. I don't have a clue apparantly, on how to take pics. Anyway, in keeping with the fresh, natural look of their new lots, once again I have used a bright, natural surface stone for the look of the new center. Plenty of glass to let in the sunlight and also let peeping moms and dads look in. First, the first thing you see on approaching:
http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss61/sopye01_2009/Simville%20Teen%20Hall/snapshot_00000001_3705089b.jpg
Next, the floor plan. There is 2 stories, plus the roof. The glass structure on the roof is simply there for the purpose of keeping the weather out of the 2nd floor.
Roof: There are Dart boards, chess tables, Llama game table and Mahjong table, little bit of everything. For the nights, or days when the weather is nice enough.
http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss61/sopye01_2009/Simville%20Teen%20Hall/snapshot_00000001_370507d0.jpg
Second story: Here we have a movie theater, for seeing the latest Sim movies. Four seperate Music rooms, piano, drums, guitar, and violin. All in padded leather to mute the sounds. Also there is a classroom for various activities, depending on the season and schedule. As you can see, there is mechanical, wood working, Arts and Crafts, whatever. Including the sink.
There are art easels out in the small area between the upper rooms, fully glassed in to take advantage of the light.

http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss61/sopye01_2009/Simville%20Teen%20Hall/snapshot_00000001_37050a6d.jpg
Main Floor: This will be the most popular with the teens. There is a small diner, fully staffed so the youngsters don't get hungry, plus seating to just hang out with friends. Opposite are the pinball games and arcade games, to liven it up. And last but not least, the most important boys and girls bathrooms.

Also, in back of center, there is a basketball court and soccer net, for a little bit of fun exercise in good weather.

The western wing of the Maybury Estate was badly damaged; but, it has been rebuilt in a sleek and modern style. The right side of the property maintains the origional floor plan, which mirrors the botanic gardens (see round 1).

The second floor:

The rooftop:
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd3_01c.jpg
The property is being leased to the City League for the Advancement of Youth, which have converted it into a recreation center. The CLAY Center grounds feature a basketball court* so the teens of the city can play HORSE and playground equiptment** for horsing around.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd3_02.jpg
The main floor's primary feature is the pool table, its a little uneven, but thats to be expected of a donation from the local bar. Also in the main room is a sterio with small cd collection (also donated) and bookshelves (filled by special arangement with the city library). On this floor, but not pictured, is a photo booth that the city hopes won't be used for anything but taking goofy pictures.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd3_03.jpg
Directly below the entrance is the kitchen. The center hosts culinary contests as well as teaching classes. The bathrooms for the center are off the classroom.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd3_04.jpg
The last section of the center is by far my favorite. Called 'the bubble' by teen visitors it has slick neon lighting, ultra modern curved windows, and an airy indoor/outdoor feel. The bubble houses the centers computers, two arcade machines salvaged from a defunct arcade (not pictured), as well as lounging space.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd3_06.jpg
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd3_05.jpg
Not pictured, but music to every sim parent's ears, is the center's rooftop stage. Because, really, whats cooler than a roof top rock concert?
*The top level of the bleachers isn't useable, sadly its purely decorative.
**I don't even know if the playground is useable by teens, I just got AL and I don't currently have any playeble teens. :( All I know is I'm 25 and I still love to sit on swings, perch on top of the monkey bars, or make myself sick on the spinny thing. :)
***Everything else: playtested and working.

This is a museum that is all about art. There are 4 galleries in this museum. There is a seating area in the front. Along with that is an eating area and a place to eat food. Also on the same floor is the bathroom. You go up a flight of spiral stairs to get to three out of the four galleries. The other gallery is on the first floor.

Round 4
Simville Museum of Adequate Art
...welcomes you
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/ScreenHunter_01May021947.jpg
Located in the heart of the city, SMAA welcomes the young, the old, and everyone in between. No matter your style of art, SMAA will eventually have something you love. Every two weeks the art exibits are switched out with something else.
This week, you caught the following exibits:
-Local Paintings
-Bunches of Bears - For the children
-Perfect Pillows: Who knew a pillow could be so artfull.
The upstairs of the building has two show rooms, and this week houses the Bears and Pillows. There is also a sitting room, as browsing art can be tiring work. :)
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/ScreenHunter_03May021948.jpg
Downstairs features a magnificent entry way, with dual spiral stairs, and dual fountain. The restrooms are also connected to the entry way. The third gallery can be found on the main floor, and is the largest of the three. This week it houses the Paintings. Not only does SMAA suit your tastes of art, it also suits you taste buds. SMAA has a small, sit down family resturant that serves food almost too beautiful to eat.
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/ScreenHunter_04May021949.jpg
On the exterior of the building, one can find a small pond/fountain, and a beautiful flower garden with perfectly placed flowers. If this doesn't make you want to come see the art inside, then hopefully the magnificently designed modern building sparks your interest. It does ours. :)

[rough draft]
In a museum, what the average person sees is only the tip of the iceberg. Beneath the water, so to speak, there are innumerable conference rooms, offices and research areas that the public is rarely even aware of. So, how do you take a small space like that allotted for the Simville Museum of Adequate Art and fit in all this, and enough galleries to make the museum a worthwhile destination? In this case, the answer was to secure the patronage of the Sim City Metropolitan Art Museum. By becoming a subsidiary of this much larger museum, the SMAA can afford to have only the minimum facilities on site by doing most of the "below the water" work at the larger museum. The SCMAM was happy to enter into this partnership, which they hope will help to bring art to Simville and the surrounding communities.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/museum4.jpg
Let's be honest: the exterior of the SMAA isn't much too look at, but I felt that the most important thing here was maximizing the space available inside. I've utilized the roof for a sculpture garden.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/MUSeum8.jpg
The garden, which was inspired by the one in Washington, DC, which I live close to, aims for a Zen garden feel, and indeed contains a replica of an actual Zen garden from Japan.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/revisedmuseum3.jpg
Going down to the second floor, we see the restaurant with additional covered outdoor seating and the galleries of modern and ancient sculpture and metalwork. The hall contains objects not usually considered art, such as decorated cricket bats, a graffiti-style mural, neon signs and street signs, which serve to remind people that anything can be art. This floor also houses the conference room where the curator holds various meetings with his/her colleagues and with the docents, as well as occasional lectures for interested members of the public.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/revisedmuseum2.jpg
The first floor is home to the restrooms and giftshop as well as the galleries of pottery, European portraiture, woodworking, and the special exhibits gallery, which currently houses modern Asian artwork with strong traditional influences. In addition, the curator's office, used for research and meeting with potential patrons, and the restoration room are on this floor.
Let's take a more detailed look at some of the galleries and the facilities.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/museum7.jpg
The modern sculpture gallery is a good one for pointing out some basic features of the museum. First off, there are absolutely no windows in this or any other gallery. Light of any kind damages art, though obviously it's necessary for viewing. Especially delicate pieces are sometimes displayed only under red light, though none of the pieces in the SMAA are that fragile. The electrical lighting is also limited to fairly dim, indirect lights. Another important feature is the amount of space between each sculpture. There has to be enough room for museum goers to look at the various pieces from different angles. In addition, the sculptures are placed with reference to the subject matter of every other piece, in order to create meaningful contrasts and comparisons.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/MUSEUM5.jpg
The pottery gallery contains the SMAA's most valuable piece, an ancient Middle Eastern urn with gorgeous, wonderfully preserved purple coloring. You'll notice that I've tried to include seating in some of the galleries, so museum goers can relax wile viewing the art. Other galleries contain rugs, usually replicas of textile art pieces, to break up the monotony that, while focusing people's attention on the collection, also gets a bit mind numbing.
http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/revisedmuseum1.jpg
Finally, let's get a closer look at the curator's office and the restoration room. The office is used mainly for research, though administrative duties are of course also important. Though there isn't room for as many books as our curator would like, we've done our best to give him/her access to the best scholarly databases, and the curator of course has full access to all the the resources of the Sim City Metropolitan Art Museum.
The restoration room is an important part of the museum, one vital to keeping the collection in good shape. You can see the many foldable easels, which can be moved out of the way if an especially large easel needs to be constructed for a specific piece. Under the tables facing the gift shop are stored all the tools of the trade: chemicals, paints, and brushes of all sorts, and much more. There's a sink to help with cleanup, and a fume hood keeps the room well ventilated. For its size, the room is very well equipped.
This concludes our tour of the Simville Museum of Adequate Art. Please visit us again.

Welcome to the Simville Museum of Adequate Art -or most recently dubbed: The SMAArt Complex! No downtown would be complete without its own signature art museum, and Simville is no exception!
The Town Council spared no expense in funding this wonderful and unique building:
http://www.justaskjack.ca/kitzchy/sims2/FV-D1-R4.jpg
The SMAArt Complex is equipped with 3 galleries and one cafe.
The lower gallery hosts the newest and most popular pieces of art on display for the season:
http://www.justaskjack.ca/kitzchy/sims2/GV2-R4.jpg
The middle and upper galleries are now home to Simville's own growing art collection:
http://www.justaskjack.ca/kitzchy/sims2/GV5-R4.jpg
The cafe: The Green Room -is most popular with all residents, especially school children on field trips, and for some reason
unsavory charlatans (something the town council is working on I'm sure...).

The SMAArt complex is one the residents of Simville will most certainly enjoy for generations to come.

Comments from the Town Council
Contestant #2
~Overall I think you did a really good job. I do think an outdoor activity more suitable for teens is needed. Also, some of the rooms seem a little bare, décor wise.
~I thought that the classes that you chose were too close to what they would be learning at an actual school-not a rec center. It is supposed to be a way they can get out and relax. The place looked like it was more for adults, as well. I do love the exterior, very nice and modern looking.
Contestant #3
~I really like the overall cozy feel of the building, and I think you did a great job on the art classroom.
~It was a bit simple, yet nice. I love the art room!
Contestant #4
~I did deduct points because you used the roof as a floor, which is not allowed. I feel like the ceilings are cluttered, using less lights and ceiling decorations would give a less busy feeling to the rooms. I think you did a great job at providing plenty of activities and I do like that you gave plenty of space for each room.
~It was required to have 2 usable stories, and it appears you have three. Otherwise great rec centre!
Contestant #5
~I really like your indoor pool, it’s a good feature. The outside of the building looks really great with all the large windows and plants.
~I love the glass walls, and especially the pool! Great job.
Contestant #7
~I love the science lab, it looks so realistic. The library is also really nice; I love the use of modern furniture. You did not mention what types of outdoor activities the center provides, although I do see the soccer net. I think at least one more outdoor option would be helpful.
~I especially adore the exterior of your centre!
Contestant #10
~I really love the multicolored walls and chairs in the library area. The outside of the building looks a little plain, I think a few tress or plants would make it more inviting.
~I love the multi-purpose classroom!
Contestant #11
~I had to deduct points because you used the roof as another floor, only two floors are allowed. Overall your building is colorful and there is plenty to do for the teens. I think the individual rooms with the instruments in them are a cute touch. Your photos are just taken at strange angles, from outside the room you are trying to showcase, which I think may be the main problem.
~I love the roof area and the overall exterior of the house. Some photos were a bit small.
Contestant #12
~I really like what you did with the exterior of the building, the windows look really great. I think additional outdoor activity options are needed. I love the idea of a kitchen classroom and yours does look good. I think a bit more décor in this room would make it feel more cozy and comfortable.
~I like the idea of a cooking class. Good job.
Contestant #13
~The design of the building is brilliant, great job there. I really like the room with the aquarium, it looks very relaxing. Please remember to watch out for gridlines in your photos.
~I adore the exterior of your centre! However, some photos had gridlines showing, which bumped down your score a bit.
Contestant #14
~I really like the skateboarding park outside, that’s a very unique and awesome feature. The building itself is not quite a modern design, and I feel it is a bit small for a recreation center.
~You did not separate out the girls and boys restrooms, as stated in the requirements. I like the skate ramps outside.
Contestant #15
~Your building looks absolutely amazing. Remember, you are not allowed to have more than two used floors. ‘The bubble’ is simply awesome, you did a wonderful job.
~You did such an amazing job! Both the interior and exterior just blow me away.
Contestant #16
~Your building is very unique looking, I really like the huge windows and bright colors. I think a bit more landscaping is needed to make the lot really feel complete.
~I adore the architecture of the place!

The SimVille Museum of Adequate Art has been a mammoth project for the Architect. The original building, established in 1867, has been painsakingly restored, and brand new collections installed for the pleasure of SimVille's arty-farty types.
Upon entering the foyer of the museum, guests may browse the gift shop (http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-05-0420-33-34-66.jpg) or stop in for a quick bite to eat or an espresso fix in the cafe (http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq239/tenielle84/S2C%20The%20Architect-Community%20Contest/Sims2ep92009-05-0420-34-38-23.jpg).
The museum features five galleries. This lot was partly inspired by NYC's Museum of Natural History, Public Library, and Metropolitan Museum of Art. Playtesting resulted in no bottle necks, and even my most red-necked of sims walked around viewing the art and commenting like they were experts. I have a hack in my game which allows for the BV Vacation Collectables to be available outside the vacation 'hoods, so the giftshop is fully functional in that regard. It was also really, really hard to limit the pictures. I had so many! :)

Here we are ladies and gentlemen
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d107/chowgilly/untitled89-1.jpg
If you would like to follow me through the main doors, i will give you the guided tour.
As you see as we enter, we have gone for a very modern yet upscale design. The main feature in this room is the light/pipe installation in the centre of the room. Theres also lots of seating as taking in all the culture can be very tiring work.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d107/chowgilly/untitled92-1.jpg
You will also be pleased to know that all of the sculptures, pictures and artefacts are alarmed and most fenced off to prevent people from touching.
This room also houses some display cases with some very rare vases and jewellery As you can see:
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d107/chowgilly/untitled91-1.jpg
As we move upstairs via the elevator which makes the building wheelchair accessible.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d107/chowgilly/untitled90-1.jpg
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d107/chowgilly/untitled93-1.jpg
Here on the second floor are the restrooms and concession area. Complete with easels for sale, as well as other souvenirs. Here we also have many vending machines. Also from this room, it leads us onto
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d107/chowgilly/untitled94-1.jpg
The lovely outdoor seating area complete with barista service and plenty of seating. It even has a smoked glass roof, a greta place to come of an evening and watch the stars.
Just have to say, thanks again to Miss Tech for hosting a great contest and to all the judges and other contestants. This was great to take part in :D

Lot Requirements for Round 3
...
2.) Building may not be more than 2 usable stories tall, not including the roof.
So I think I may have been docked points when I shouldn't have been. I took this statement as two useable floors plus the roof. I just want to clarify so that if I mistook the requirements, I don't do it again.

No you, and a couple of others were properly docked points. 2 usable floors means you can only use 2 floors. Using the roof made the building have 3 usable floors. The "not including the roof", means the building is not penalized if it is 2 floors plus a roof. Sorry if that was unclear to you, but that has how it has been each round of the contest. The roof level is not to be used for anything other than a roof if you already have 2 floors in a building. The roof, however could be used as a "usable floor" if you had only a one story building. Hope that clears up any confusion for the final round.

Welcome to Adequate Art, please come inside.
Its my thought that any building that is going to house art, should be art! That said... ON WITH THE TOUR!

Our first floor is home to the cat art gallery, the garden gallery that leads visitors outside to the hedge trail to view several sculptures, "A Sim" gallery (filled with art tributes to the sims) located next to the elevator, and Adequate Art's gift shop.

Stepping off the elevator guests will find the bathrooms (be careful pink is the gentleman's room and blue is for ladies) and drinking fountains, a gallery for art from the school children, our local artist's gallery currently home to 4 different artists, and the complementary outside salad bar.

Hello, and Welcome to the Simville Museum of Adequate Art. The building itself was designed to be a relaxing place to come and appreciate the finest pieces of art around. There are two restrooms, a large reception and 2 large gallery rooms, one of which features a meeting space, and local exhibits.
As soon as you walk down town, this gallery will be the first place you see. With its two Giant monuments outside, along with the most beautiful display of flowers the Outside will certainly draw people in. The tree's provide much needed shade, whilst the pond ensures lots of lovely wildlife comes and visits too.
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj275/bolt660/museum1.jpg
Once In through the main enterance and have paid, you can step through the large wooden arch into the first gallery. Here you will see a wonderful collection of famous paintings. They are very expensive though so dont touch!
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj275/bolt660/museum2.jpg
The Enterace itself is Very Spacious, clutter would simply make it untidy. With wooden flooring it seems very open. Dotted around there are sculptures of interest. The main feature of this room, is it's bay windows which features comfortable seating, to allow people to take in the beauty of the room.
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj275/bolt660/museum3.jpg
Although this shot does not show everything upstairs has to offer, you can see that this room is primarily featuring more galleries, including display cabinets with ancient monuments. The room also houses weekly art meetings, with a large table and easle's ready for the local artists to have exhibitions.

Please note that, the squares on the black flat part of the roof are meant to be like that, the are skylights :P

The Architectural Masterpiece of Museum of Adequate Art (MoAA), by Xavier Gallagher (a local architect), has finally been completed. It currently boasts a shop that sells replicas of statues available for viewing inside the MoAA, a coffee and rest area, washrooms, and an visual arts learning centre for toddlers all the way up to elders. Although it has not, as of yet, recruited the art of the Legendary Art of Keely Picard (one of the major artists of Caelin, port side), there is still much art to be viewed and enjoyed.

The Maybury Museum of Almost Adequate Art has opened its doors for its first exhibition! But before you even enter the building you can experiance the culture! The sculpture garden is mostly modern, but is dominated by a tounge and cheek sculpture thats sure to delight even the youngest patrons of the arts.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd4_02.jpg
Inside the fare is a little more serious: the museum is still expanding its collection, but our first show makes do with what we have. Our curator saw beauty in the damaged paintings and empty frames that were aquired with the estate. His instalation is tittled forgottten.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd4_03.jpg
At the evening reception drinks will be served, and the shmoozing will be accompanied by gentle piano music. When you need to vacate those bar drinks, the men's and womens bathrooms are tucked discretely behind the stairs.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd4_04.jpg
But those young arts enthusiasts lured by the giant gorilla are not forgotten. Like any museum worth its salt, MMAAA offers community outreach classes in painting, pottery, flower arangement, and sewing (not pictured), all in a vibrant kid friendly space. Because sometimes you lose track of presonal needs when engrossed in a project, we've also included a bathroom on this floor.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd4_05.jpg
Also on the top floor, but not in the detail pictures, is our open air coffee lounge, which has a slightly zen feel; and a chess competion space.
http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt246/JLSsecretidentity/ContestSimArchitectRnd4_01a.jpg
While the large gallery on the first floor will be host to rotating shows, the smaller gallery has been reserved for portraits that the esteemed legacy families of the city are sure to donate.

playtested: working
that first floor is a foundation, just a tall one.

Welcome to the Simville Museum of Adequate Art. In keeping with the new trend of building in the area, it is modern in design, using natural materials with plenty of glass. The building is two stories high, four wings of art, restrooms for the boys and girls, and a dinette for getting a quick bite to eat after all that walking. First, on approaching the building, you will see the sculptures in front that were donated by a local artisan. Manicured hedges lead you up to a glass front entryway.
http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss61/sopye01_2009/Simville%20Art%20Gallery/snapshot_00000005_970d23ea.jpg
Once you open the front doors you already see the art being displayed in a beautiful carved wood screen. On the other side is the small diner:
http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss61/sopye01_2009/Simville%20Art%20Gallery/snapshot_00000005_170d255a.jpg
The galleries are to the right and left of the diner, with the restrooms out of the way in the back. Each wing also has a small sofa to either rest on or just to sit and enjoy the art. You will also notice by the overhead shots, that the roof is made up of 50% glass, to allow natural light in the top wings, and also in the diner.
