Is it me or do breasts in the sims 3 seem...fake?

I don't want to be sexual or flirty by posting this, but I downloaded the naked clothes from the SexySims website, and I noticed that all breasts, apart from those of thinner Sims seem fake or unreal to me...Am I the only one?

BTW, there's only one explanation: they aren't mean to be visible, so the meshing & texturing thing sucks. At least, if you have a custom skin you solve the second issue, but for the first you would have to DL (Create) a body mesh replacement.

IMO, part of the issue is having to use the same textures for all breast sizes. And this applies not just in nude clothes but in revealing ones like the string bikini. An athletic, slim sim will have almost no breasts, but continues to have underboob shadow. A heavyset sim, the breasts look more natural, but still the shadow underneath looks almost bruised. That's one thing I tried to reduce/eliminate in my skintone edit - the game's natural shadowing adds plenty so that with next to no underboob shadow, it looks much better on sims of all body types.

The actual shapes seem fine to me, if a bit on the small side, average-wise, though I love being able to make renaissance-looking ladies with wide hips and rounded bellies and smallish breasts.

But, there are some tops and t-shirts that women (and sim women) wear that arent designed to be worn with bras...The simple vests for example...Or the whole Workout clothing category, who wears a padded bra while going jogging?! So naturally breasts would...head south. Allthough In the game ALL breasts are hoisted up. Even the adults sims have perfect breasts, the adult sims are I'd imagine 30 to 60ish years of age, (60+ would be elders and 20- would be young adults) -- And in reality, breasts don't look that perfect at that age without surgery.
And you can tell the difference between adults and young adults faces on Sims 3, why can't you tell the difference between YA and Adults breasts? Go natural I say!

Yeah, but some people, well, theirs are naturally bigger or smaller.
It's not really something I'd like to get into,b ut they do look very fake, I mean, it's like every sim (female) has had surgery! It's kind of bad with teens, too. I'm somewhat thin, and have to wear kind of big bras, while teens in sims appear to not wear them,period. While, adults seem to have perfect breasts, period. And,off topic- guys can't have Abs? Whats so bad about that? It's kind of bizarre, but less work for the programmers, I guess..

I'd like to do this, too, without hacking the game to here and back. Not all larger women have large breasts and wide hips, while not all slender women are reed thin. The breasts in the game don't bother me too much atm but I admit, I tend to make average women so I don't have to contend with the breasts not looking "right".

EA seems to have a problem with....well making bodies look right, they all seem to be shoved into some crap standard. Butts don't look right on ladies most of the time, depending on the bottom, same with boobs and tops. Muscles on both genders seem off. Fat distribution seems off. I'm not one to complain but these things bother the crap outta me. I can tolerate them all having the same height, there's a good reason for that, but these other things......
They could be fixed with time and effort, but you know how money grabbing bureaucratic uptight capitalist cooperate juggernaut couch potatoes are.

I just wish my teens didn't look 12. IMO, sim children range from 5-13 and teens from 14-17. But when I see the age transition, I immediately assume 16. It would really suck if I had concave breasts like these poor ladies. That and the breast shape looks like it's been mashed up into her ribs (for adults). They need to be less... round.

ITA. I'm 15 and my body looks like the YA one in this game (I have larger breasts + I'm midgetsauce, though); the teen one looks more like a younger person's body shape (In general... I know everyone's different yadda yadda)
I think EA could make customization easier by having different set body heights (short/average/tall) and body shapes (Pear/Apple/Hourglass/Strawberry/Banana) so the sims we make could be more realistic, without having to fine tune the animations for a second-life type of body modification.

Exactly. When I was 15, I had to have a breast reduction. Everyone's bodies are different. It would be nice if our sims' bodies could have more variation than what we have now.

Well, I'm like you... I would love to have variable bodyshapes or body sliders, but that the same time, I'm aware that chances are it would be impossible to mod. But who knows? I've never touched the game files, I don't know how impossible height or bodyshape adjustment would be.

I simply wish there were more body shapes - let them be standardized, sure, but I want a true pear shape to go with the apple body shape for female sims. And yes, it does look odd that the breast sizes seem to shrink and expand depening on what the sim is wearing.

To the modders out there, is there any possible way to making body sliders from breasts? I know there is not one, but is it impossible or there's a way to make it happen, people just don't know how yet? Because I HATE having my female sims flat like that.

It may eventually be possible but it won't be easy. Body shapes are not only based on specific bones (there are breast bones, right and left) but also morphs for things like fat. So potentially you'd have to make a whole new set of morphs for every clothing and body mesh.

We will have to be content with downloading custom content skins like Peggy's skintones. She has really beautiful nude skins for male and female. Plus we have the Lara Croft Body mesh and people are starting to make clothes for that, so all hope is not lost.

It would have been nice to have a chest slider. Not to make skinny girls with size EE boobs, but just to have some variation. I'm thinking like Velma from Scooby Doo-- an average sized girl with some heftier jugs.

A hip slider would have been nice too. Or maybe just a female shape selecter with the Cosmo magazine type body shapes, like "the pear" and "the ruler".

All in all, the boob shape is okay. A bit too roundish. Boobs come in many shapes and sizes but all in all, I think most sets are a bit . . . pointier? Like Marilyn Monroe-ish?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe she was referring to the way Sim bodies were constructed, not real bodies. If I'm not mistaken, "bones" can also refer to the underlying structure of a mesh.

I've been stuffing one of my in-game born sim gals with icecream to put some meat on her bones, in the hopes that she'll get some kind of feminine curves. There needs to be a broader representation of the female form in the game and a breast slider, even if it only adjusts the cup size a little. I find it unrealistic and odd that my sim has to gain weight everywhere to get a little clevage.

I've got a bigger bust than my oldest friend but she and I are the same size and weight. All women aren't built the same. Not all petite women are flat chested or built like porn stars and not all large women have huge knockers. They don't have to get extreme with it, but a little additional customization of the breasts and hip areas would be a nice addition sometime in the future.

I think they may be able to set up key heights, as in not a slider. Then a level 6 sim would be able to pinpoint where a level 2 sim's face was, and so on. I can't make a realistic simself until they do. They just look short and skinny, and it looks ridiculous.

I don't see why it should be so hard. Like DrowningFishy said, I've played wrestling games with lots more customization and, when Sims 3 was announced I was hoping it would be as advanced. Boy was I disappointed. You could also adjust your character's height in those games too and they had no problem fighting each other in the ring. I also recall that, little characters couldn't lift larger characters so they also paid attention to the physics in those games.

Now, people argue that by allowing height sliders you wouldn't get the interactions to look right, well, in Sims 2, I used the height cheat and never had any problems really. Certain parts of the body still managed to find where they were supposed to go but then again I never made any overly tall or short sims. I don't think a threshold of about one or two feet would be game breaking but I also like vivalakevin's idea and have preset heights instead.

But on the topic of breasts, I wouldn't mind having a chest slider in my game. Not all skinny girls are flat and not all fat girls are well-endowed.

What surprised me is the console Sims games DO have a lot more body sliders. Sims 2 Castaway for Wii has chest, arm, and leg sliders. It doesn't make sense to me why such sliders are never available on the PC versions.

No reply for 10 months? That explains why this is kind of out of date. I think the problem could be fixed (for female sims) to some extent by having the standard body types... Apple, Pear, Triangle, Hourglass. All the Sims are the Apple type, they gain more around the middle than the chest or butt. Perhaps they could add the other 3 types, and Sims who gain on their boobs and butt would gain that way when you moved the weight slider

Exactly... they should at least make female sims in the shape of the most common body type, which would either be pear or hourglass.

From observation, it's impossible to create a perfect male/female body in the game.

It's more like in ideology/culture/policy in gaming industry rather than technical problem. The main reason is to make the game LESS SENSUAL. Just like that, no other reason. Finish.

Try to observe other US-Europe made game, all have this body issue. Only Japan game who has good body shape and sexy clothes. If only one or two games has this body issue, it's developer problem, but when all games are like this, than it's the whole industry issue.

Your complain is their success.
