Okay, recently I have started trying to build buildings I have either lived in, or been to. And one of my current projects that's in planning is an octagonal pavilion. But I'm having some trouble with the roof. Basically, I'm trying to recreate this building,, but the small octagonal roof in the roof section is still sloped too steeply. Anyone have any ideas or recommendations? And yes, this project is a beach community lot on a pier.

There a cheat in later EPs: RoofSlopeAngle or IndividualRoofSlopeAngle:

Does this not work for octagonal roofs?

Tried it, it doesn't work on octagonal roofs, cone roofs, and dome roofs. So it looks like this project might be out of the question.

Are you sure it doesn't work?
I can't remember if it did before I got M&G or not- but with M&G installed I've been able to change the slope of those kinds of roofs. With M&G "we" got the ability to choose the slope from the roof section- but I thought all that did was replace having to bring up the cheat window.

Ahh, see I don't have M&G. With what I DO have, it will let me change slope angle on any roofine except the cone, octagonal, and spire roofs. I tried, but slopes wouldn't change on those roofs.
Are there additional roofs in M&G?

No. (Although there are a couple of architectural roof pieces.) What M&G added was the ability to change the roof slope without having to bring up the console and type in a cheat. In the roof section there's an icon you can click on and choose the angle you want, then you click on the roof- and I know that you can change the slopes of those roofs because I've done it.
I guess you can't change those roofs if you don't have M&G then. Which is just silly and not too much of a surprise considering we're talking about EAxis here.

So, it looks like I might have to invest in one more pack for Sims 2 then. I might have to do a serious clearing out of CC houses I've downloaded if I do get M&G. Ugh, looks like this project will be back burnered for now. Darn.
And then it'll still have to be a single storey restraunant. The actually building was 2 storey dining. But the roofs will mess that up. I supposed I can live with that. Just no Bar, LOL.

I suppose that there's one other option. You could try making the change using SimPE. The roof structure is documented here:
http://www.simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Roof
The field that you would need to change is:
Roof Pitch; angle of slope
To increase your likelihood of finding the right roof pieces in the list, I would recommend removing all roofs from the lot, except for the ones that you are trying to fix.
If you want to try this, be sure to backup first, since it would be easy to mess up.

I think I'll continue avoiding SimPE, lol. For one, I'm not good with the complicated programming type stuff. Second, last time I tried installing simPE, my computer started giving me all sorts of warnings not to install it cause it could messup my OS.
I wish they had octagonal cutoff roofs like they have of the other roofs. Ya know, the half roof ones and angled half roofs.
Think I'll just hold off on this lot for now, and save up for M&G.

Sounds very reasonable. I just wanted to put it out as an option. M&G is certainly the simpler way to go.

therebel292004,
Look, may check out the cheat page and follow more carefully.
I'm pretty sure even just TS2EP5 Seasons can do it already.
Unpatched TS2 EP6 may fail in this features.
So, ensure you've your game patched as you want.

I've tried patching,,, for some reason, it says it's up to date, but won't let me use the "individual roof slope" cheat. You think I should try DLing all the patches I need, then re-install all my packs?

If you really want to go that route, install THEN patch each one. (One at a time.) There'd be no reason to patch something you don't have on your computer yet. :)

Very good point. Maybe I'll deal with it later on. After all, it will be quite the process.

I'm real late on this post...bored to death...but there is a way to lower the slope. You put the octo roof on it, then go into auto roof section and click the delete all roofs...then go and hit the re do button and voila!!! sloped lower!!

I found a solution ! wow im sorry for the late post (three years late) but im excited i found a solution lol. so what you do is you make your octagonal roof you open up the cheat menu and put in roofslopeangle #. then you go to auto roof and click on delete all roofing. then click undo and there you have it. now your octagonal roof in in the slope you want ! just tested it now but i havent tried to see if when i exited out if it saved...
