Hey all, I've had Sims 3 running fine on my old pc for the past year, well, because some games were getting a bit laggy for its older technology, I went out and bought a new pc. I was able to install and play every game flawlessly (Fallout 3, TES4, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 1&2, Modern Warfare 2, and FarCry2 and all play at above 80 FPS on this new PC)

Well, I install Sims 3, all the expansions and all the patches, opens up fine, plays through the logo sequence and the intro video, and it gets to the "High End Loft Stuff" loading screen and sits with 0% of the bar filled with the Sim's mouse busy indicator going and it will sit there indefinitely (max I have waited is 30 mins, and when you read the specs you'll know that I should never have to wait that long lol)

Here are the specs for my pc:
OS: Winblows 7 x64 Home Premium
CPU: AMD Athelon II x4 Quad Core 230 (edit: said Dual Core -- sorry =S)
MEM: 12 GB DDR3
HDD: 1.2TB (972Gb free)
Video: Nvidia GTX 220 (There are 2 versions of the 220, 1 is the $50 card that people avoid (GT 220), and the other is the GTX with the dual core GPUs and DDR3 memory, I have the GTX)

I have updated Direct X and it is not sitting at version 11.x, I have updated my video and sound drivers, the PC is to my best IT knowledge, up-to-date.

Steps I have taken and outcomes (ALL WITH NO MODS)
1. I innitially installed Sims 3 like normal, installed the base game, then the expansions, which prompted to patch, I did, and got everything patched up. Failed to load (hangs)
2. I uninstalled everything, including the download manager, and reinstalled the base game; played it -- it WORKED! Patched it -- IT WORKED.
3. I then installed World of Adventures, started it -- Hang..... Ok patched it, Hang....
4. Restart -- I uninstalled everything again, installed base game, patched, tested it, it worked... then installed HELS... it worked! Patched it... It worked! Installed WOA, hangs at load.

I have a legitimate copy of all expansions and base game, however being stumped by this, I thought it may be the disc; so I went in search of a torrent lol; got one for WoA, and installed that one with the same results (I figure its legal, I own a legitimate copy and used my legit license key and stuff and deleted it as soon as I found it not to work as well)...

Does anyone have any clue or iota of an idea what could be causing this? Keep in mind that every other game out there playes flawlessly and at extremely high Frames Per Second -- Upwards of 80-100 with max AA, AF, textures, details, everything -- I wouldn't be quick to say the system isn't up to specs or that the video card is out of spec, though I did get the message that the video card was "unrecognized" when the base Sims started the first time.

It sounds like something isn't compatible with WA. Did you delete your cache files when you removed your mods? That is if you ever had mods, just I shot here. :)

For instructions on Loading Crashes look here:

When you uninstalled before the reinstall did you delete leftover folders, delete the uninstall folders and clean up the registry?

Good Luck!

Yeah man, I started with a fresh install -- new pc... I was going to move my mods/files over if it loaded up.

The second time around, I completely deleted the EA folder in the my documents directory (it was a fresh OS and just uninstalled Sims to reinstall). I have yet to restore any of my saved content and mods to the new pc that is acting up yet.

As far as the left-over folders, I left 1 in each, which had my modified binaries that allows sims to use more than 2gb of memory (being it crashed my system every 5 mins of play on my old pc without it. The binaries names were TS3.exe.bk so they really shouldn't have interfered at all I would think.
