I could use some help getting my sim just right. Currently what I have is a base, her freckles, a decent hair and eyes, what I am lacking is some of her facial structure, skin and lips. The skin and lips are the easy part, emulating the facial structure is not so much, and is the part I'd like some feedback on.
Here is the source image I am working with. Yay for artistic camera angles :D

Here are some side by side comparisons, both with a straight forward image from body shop next to the source image, and with a similar camera angle from body shop next to the source image.

Any suggestions on how to improve her would be greatly appreciated.

Nice Start :) just a question first... is this a celeb sim? (i've never seen her before thats all) if so whats her name so we could maybe help find another picture to judge her on
is she wearing a nose mask yet?
~ Nose Shorter
~Chin needs to come out more
~Top Lip Thicker
~The lips also need to come out a bit

She is not a celebrity, no. If you'll follow the link in the first post you'll find the original portrait which I am using as source material. Since the collection she is from is entitled 'Portraits of Strangers, I doubt there is another image of this particular person available. So why did I choose this particular person to sim? Number 1, I enjoy a challenge; #2 I find the subject of the portrait to be quite lovely.
Next question, no, she is not wearing a nose mask, and I don't plan to make one unless there is absolutely no other alternative. The less 'duct tape' I have to use, the happier I'll be -- though emulating the fold of skin near the inner corner of her eye may require some.
Edit: I also forgot to mention, please ignore the frickles that appear inside her nostrils... I'm working on removing them. For some reason they keep showing up, even after I remove the alpha from the freckle .bmp.

You have a good start, and you've picked a beautiful face to sim :) I think you will have to use at least -some- make-up/facial effects in order to make her look more like the real person. You can keep it down to minimum, but real people faces are hard to do without some 'duct tape' ;) Especially if you want her to be a little more realistic.
- Mouth less smiley and more pronounced, use a darker shade of lipstick to achieve that.
- I strongly suggest you use a nosemask, because now her nose bridge is unnoticeable :)
- She needs some eyelids, I suggest using eyeshadow.
- Lighter skin
- Some blush for her cheekbones
- The real girl has darker eyes (possibly green, but it0s hard to tell), and they seem deep and mysterious. You could try finding eyes that will suit her better.
- Perhaps add some eyebags.
- Upper lip bigger
Now, I know most of my suggestions are CC related, but that's because her sculpt seems to be pretty good. It's a shame there are no more pictures of her, it's pretty hard to see her face from this angle.

Mystyblue4: I agree about the lack of source material. It might have been better if she was a celeb, but then I'd have no interest in simming her :P

Here's an extreme closeup of her eyes (zoomed in 400x). They seem to be brown, and yeah, rather mysterious... Maybe making custom eyes? Yeah, maybe.
Working on the edits as I speak... er type. Thanks guys
Edit: First few edits done (the easy ones):

Are the freckles too dark? Wrong color? Too numerous? Or is it just me?
Adjusted the lips, made top lip bigger, pushed them in, pulled them out, screwed them up, reverted, tried again, still not happy with them... sigh.
Edit2:
The lipcolor is also still wrong... gonna have to recolor...

Looking better! As for the eyes, you don't have to make new ones, there are many lovely eyes already that would look good on her :)
Perhaps you could try making freckles more diverse in shade? Some lighter, some darker. And maybe there shouldn't be so many.
Notice how they're darkest on her cheekbones and then getting lighter around the mouth. There are a few dark ones on her nose, and chin, the rest should be lighter and fewer :) Also, the freckles on your sim are a bit stretched right under her eyes. Maybe you've noticed already.
I assume that's a maxis skin, right? If you want her to look more realistic, perhaps try using a custom skin on her :)

The freckles looked better in your first try. Now there are too many, especially on her nose :) And yo could try to make som custom eyes that doesn't have so much contrast.
Her lips looks pretty good by the way! All in all it's a good sim so far. Just a little tweaking here and there and you'll nail her.
Btw, since she's a random person I think you can upload her just by "inspiration". Since she's not supposed to look like someone we know I mean. She's still a pretty sim, though I bet you're eagering to fullfill what you've started ^^

Okay, got a nose mask... though I could find none that cover from the bridge down, so, looks like she'll have make do with just the tip, nostrils, and whatever you call that little trough thingy between your nose and upper lip :P
Redid the freckles.
Tweaked the lips until my brain felt like mush.
Went fishing, caught a 5 pound blue catfish.
Made some nice new eyes.
I'm not sure on the freckles still, I feel like there's too few now.
@Malfoya, yeah, the though of tossing her out there as just any old random sim did cross my mind, but I've come this far, so I may as well finish the job.
Progress so far:

Which one? The first is actually HystericalParoxysm's Idolatry (the first) skin tone, fourth from the darkest. The second is the same as the current, HystericalParoxysm's Idolatry (again, the first, not the one you linked), fourth from the lightest. The reason they look Maxis-y (yeah, like that's a word) is because of the huge freckles.

she looks good but maybe you should mess with her hair (textures) her hair is a little more darker than the sim hair is

Looking good, but her eyes are still not right. Iris needs to be darker and smaller. Nostrils wider, and her lips and skin could perhaps be a tad darker. She still has no eyelids, I suggest you try this eyeshadow (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=345103) by Bruno.
Could you post an in-game picture, if it's not too much of a trouble? :)
