OK... so I'm trying to chop the top of a full body outfit, to have it as a seperate top. the first time it seemed to work, but it didn't quite line up at the neck (and I didn't change age groups at all) and her arms stuck out to the side, instead of sitting normally like all the other clothes in bodyshop. so, I tried again, but now it's just showing a big invisble space where the top and arms should be! help!

... I'm a noob at this, so nice simple explanations, please?

You need to first make a mesh package that's cloned from just a top. You can't just chop a body mesh in half, for example, and have it work as a top. You also need to make sure your comments in MilkShape say "top" and not "body".

Without knowing exactly what you did, it's kind of hard to give advice.

well, I extracted the mesh from the full body package, edited it, and imported it into the top only package... and it's acually one of your outfits I'm trying "chop", fakepeeps! your stuff is sooo cute, but sometimes it's just like, that'd be awsome as a seperate... but my only experience with meshing is with objects- i'm pretty new to that. I can recolour alright, though.

Well, if it's not working, it's probably something to do with the comments. Or maybe the skeleton. In MilkShape, try first importing a top mesh. Then import the body you want to edit. Delete the top so you don't get confused (you won't be using it anyway). Now you can chop your body in half. Do all the adjusting you need to do, and make sure that the comments say "top" and not "body". Then import back into SimPE. That should work.

thanks. I'll give it a go!

Edit: tried it. didn't work... what do you mean by comments? it still seem to think it's a body.

The comments section in MilkShape is where you tell the mesh what sort of mesh it is. If your comments aren't correct, your mesh won't work. If it says "body", you have to change it to "top".

Have you ever meshed before? If not, I suggest using one of the beginner tutorials. It will explain all the things you need to know (like comments) with pictures.

I've meshed objects, and i've followed beginning tuatorials for objects and clothes, but neither mentioned the comments- what I need is a tuatorial for chopping outfits in half!

Actually, the Unimesh 3 tutorial talks about comments. It's really not hard to edit comments - it's just a text box.

ok, I found a tuatorial on chopping meshes, and it explained comments. now to follow the tuatorial.
