I might try that, I'm not overly bothered about the relics, but I think I can work out a way of bringing across the stuff I want from the alternative save anyway

I don't think using an alternate save for the career roll really fits in to the challenge. It's fine to do it for scenes for the story that don't involve your actual challenge goals, but completing your career in another save and then just funding the money to your actual legacy seems kind of wrong.

mine as well lol, it was just something that popped up I wanted to ask :D I'm not sure if I am going to travel or not.....I already traveled in this save.......so don't know if it does more harm to go again, or if it doesnt matter.....and my storyline is adjustable tbh, so I am not sure If i'd go through the hassle even if it was okay :)

Hello from a long time lurker. I've been around since TS2 but never post. I ran across the Random Legacy sometime last summer and started playing. I made it to the beginning of Gen 3 before I decided to make a story out of it. I'm in between semesters, I received my AS in Accounting and am taking some time off before heading into a bachelors program.

I've pretty much played a legacy style game, no cheats, work your way up and got really bored with the game so I was looking for ways to shake it up a bit when I ran across the rules. I like the random combinations of this challenge and it's brought back some fun to my game. It's got me playing traits and careers I would otherwise avoid and I'm determined to make it past Gen 7 with a family even if I have to clone them or move them into a different save!

I've been reading a few of the legacy challenge stories but it wasn't until recently that I started following any of them. That lead to a new follower of my own blog and an invite here. hmmmm I think that covers it....I stink at introductions ;)

I'm not a writer, and it has been many years since I've told a tall tale, but I enjoy a good story and occasionally think I can write one ;) Here is a link to my Legacy. In the story I'm on Gen 1, in game I'm on Gen 3. My early pictures stink, and I found gen 2 pics to be practically non existent but hopefully I can find enough to spin a decent story for one of the most boring generations I've ever played. I can't wait to get for Gen 3 to age up so I can get back to having some fun.

Thanks melissa, it's good to know the town landscape is not the most important thing in the story *winks* I got the new town ready now, I was gonna testplay first, but I can't anymore. When I got on this morning, I got a load of messages saying sims were late for work or for school, when I checked there were a lot of sims standing still in front of their destinations... I spend a while resetting everyone that was stuck, only to get an error 12 after trying to save. So I do not want to play that anymore......

Right now I am having a problem getting twallans porter to work, is there someone that knows how to actually place the family back? The instructions given on the site itself don't seem right. It says to begin the town with a diff family, pause the game, find an empty house, select the lot and then use the unpack interaction........but I don't get that interaction....so what am I doing wrong? I tried in the game, I tried in the "edit town" I tried going in edit town to that lot.....what am I missing?

Klevkin - I only read the last chapter but I have started to read from the beginning. You are a very good story-teller.
A suggestion for you, try the Save As selection when saving your games. Give it the same name and let it overwrite. You may bypass the Error 12 issue that way. Not 100% sure it will work with every problem but it helped me when I was having save issues.

I'm sorry I've never used porter and can't help with that. If you can't figure it out, you can move each family individually and then use MC to restore the relationships.

I just used MC when I moved everyone into Meadow Glenn, Klev. Just try to bunch them up in as few families as you can and in each family they will keep their relationships. Then you just add in the ones that are missing.

I'm afraid I can't help with Porter either, I just used MC to add everyone I wanted to take to my household the last time I moved (the previous time I exported them in several batches & then used MC to reconstruct the relationships)

On the upside though, my husband decided to vacuum clean the computer on the inside :) so at least its a lot quieter now :rofl:

@Rawla, thanks for the suggestion, it doesn't bypass though, once you get the error 12, the only thing that helps is shut down and start over from the last save. Since I am using the saver every 15 minutes, it's not that bad, with the house full of sims, I never got the chance to do a lot in 15 minutes.
Also, it is happening so much now, that I started to save every 5 minutes by hand, and redoing almost everything three times before I would be able to progress. I hope the move will at least take the game a while before I start getting new error 12's though.

Melissa has been helping me with my settings as well, so that might help postponing it even longer :D

I'll work on moving the families seperate this evening and hope to be able to play again tomorrow.

Klev - All you have to do, is go to edit town. click on the house and go save to library. It should save you families to sim bin, and they will stay there and you can use them for whatever town you like.

She doesn't really look as forward and in your face as I'd expect Aphrodite to be. Maybe a bolder makeup to make her more "I know what I want and I'm going to take it"?

I mean, she's the Goddess of Love. Confidence is kind of her thing.

That being said, gorgeous sim, and I think you're right on the money with the hairstyle and eyes. I wouldn't have thought of making her a redhead, but it works.

You could try to alter her eyes a bit, she is gorgeous, but big eyes tend to make people look innocent and sweet. So if you make them a bit smaller, turn the outside corners up a bit, it should give her a less innocent look :)

The redhead bit is just awesome! I love that :D you could try to add some dark red highlights to create a more fury look?

That is much better!! No more innocence. Though she looks cross now, might help if you put her mouth a bit more like she's smiling, raise the corners a bit. I think that would make her look like she's saying "come here, I want to eat you up alive"

Yeah when I looked at the screenshots I'm like 'wow, she looks PISSED OFF', and I agree on the corners, I'd rather the eyes say 'hello sailors' but her lips look innocent.

yeah, perhaps make the eyes a bit more opened as it were? Not sure if that is possible though :) or if that would require you to make them bigger again?

If you keep the lips this big, I think they will look innocent, even if you do the corners a bit, if you make them thinner she will probably look even more crossed :)

The lips would stay the same thickness, just change the curve/corners, thin lips do make her look like they're pursed out of anger. And I can open the eyes a little with the 'eye shape' slider. But not AS open as before.

Hi guys! I know it's been a while, but guess what?! I'm back!!! :D To make a long story short, I will be getting a new computer soon, so I can start playing again!!

I missed y'all SOOO MUCH! And all your stories! Oh dear god, I'm ridiculously behind on updates! I know what I'll be doing this weekend, lol. Yeah the lipstick has been annoying me. And I keep forgetting to fade her tan. She's supposed to be this 'pure being' that I imagine her as light as I can. Much like all the paintings etc. That colour blonde is in the Norse gods, so perhaps the genetics will mix and BAM blonde version.

I keep getting this odd glitch (that I've talked about before) where NPC toddlers get stuck in the ether between walls. It usually takes multiple resets of the lot before they finally go back to wherever it is they came from. So strange - and incredibly creepy.

Sorry for my humor, no I didn't get hit literally by a bus, just a really nasty flu/cold. Hehe, my boyfriend is a complete Dr Who geek - he has almost encyclopaedic knowledge of the entire series right from An Unearthly Child to the present day! I like it but not quite as obsessively as he does...

If you're feeling the lack of new episodes you should try getting hold of some of the old stuff, the BBC are still bringing out various of the old episodes on DVD gradually (although some of it has been lost entirely)

They might be, you should take a look on amazon or similar & see if they are. I actually like some of the old stuff better than some of the new stuff if I'm honest, the special effects aren't as good but some of the acting & storylines are top notch (albeit not all of them)

I almost didn't get the Property Mogul goal.. For some reason I couldn't become partners! I had to buy the entire buildings. The last time I checked I was finally able to become a partner at the grocery store which gave me my 3. But it never showed up for the bookstore. I also have this goal for my 2nd generation.

Basically, any rule that affects daily life (like Living Green or No Strangers), or any rule you have to complete once a week (Fashion Diva, Social Bunny) begins when the heir reaches YA and ends when the next heir reaches YA. Goals that you have to achieve once (property Mogul, Perfectionist) you can continue working on even after the next heir takes over.

Thanks Melissa. My 2nd generation misc. fun is No Hands (or something like that) which I REALLY hate because I use that ALL the time. Thankfully Emmalina has the neat trait so that should help out some. Just wanted to make sure when I need to quit with that. I wanted to wait until the last possible second! I'd like Amelia and Donovan to reach their LW before they die. So I'm glad I can still work with them. I thought I had to achieve my generation goal before the next heir aged in a YA. Any opportunity that I could make money off of I did it because I had to buy those properties when I was just starting out. But I made it with 2 days to spare. Lol.

I know what you mean, I hate hands off, too. I'm always dragging the plates to the trash and the laundry piles to the hampers. The Neat trait will definitely help. In my current house I have one Neat and two Perfectionists, and they fight with each other over who gets to take out the trash.
Property Mogul is tough in the first generation. After that though, it's one of the easiest goals. I'm glad you were able to get it done.

I had the property mogul for Gen one as well. It's the main reason they didn't have much of a house until Gen 2 was a teen. Thankfully the fire fighter job has those weekly stipends and a payout for every emergency. If Jenna had had a regular job she never would have made it!

My Gen 2 more fun is hands off. One thing I found that helps with the laundry piles is a hamper in every room. Then when they change it goes right in the bin instead of the floor. It's not too bad keeping up with one or two sims, but get a large household and it can be really annoying to deal with the mess.

I'm going back to bed. This cold has kicked my butt, I didn't sleep much last night thanks to coughing all night. So while my youngest watches her shows this morning I'm napping on the couch. Some days it sucks being a single (divorced) mom, but only when I need someone to take care of me :lol:

Melissa I do the same thing! I didn't even put a clothes hamper in this time. I forgot! I have no room for a washing machine or dryer. How do I wash the clothes at the laundry mat? Maybe I could squeeze one in Bridgeport...somewhere. I also rolled Property Mogul again for my 2nd gen. Ugh, I will forever be broke since I can't become partners anywhere. I only have the option to buy the entire thing. Maybe I didn't have enough money to partner at the time and that's why it didn't show up? I hope so because I've been spending their money on furniture. Lol.

Amy, Wasn't Jenna also a Single parent? You poor thing! NO WAY I could have made it with only Amelia's income. She is only at level 7 in law enforcement I can get her a promotion to save my life. It's those stupid reports. I hate those.

Yes, but I'm still at a lost when he comes to having a place to put hampers and the machines. Perhaps an apartment was not such a great idea. Luckily Sebastian lives in a house, with a garage. =]

I put hampers in every bedroom and bathroom, but I hate having them in kitchens and parlors. And of course stupid Sims decide to work out to the TV, or the kids decide to joyride on the couch or do the preside over royal court thing, which always creates a laundry pile. *sigh*
To wash the clothes at the laundrymat, click on the hamper and choose 'collect laundry'. That puts it in the Sim's inventory, and then when you go to the laundrymat, you can wash them.
You could make a laundry room in some empty space in your apt. building, too, if you can't fit a laundrymat in the town.

That thing you have with not being able to become partners sounds like a glitch. It won't show up if you can't afford it, but if you had the money to buy the whole building, you should have had enough to become a partner, so it should have shown up. You can reroll that goal for Gen 2 if you want, since it seems to be glitched for you.

I think I will try and see if I can become partners with the Bookstore once I have 10,000 again to see if the option will come up. If it doesn't I will roll again for my generation goal.

Hey everyone!! I GOT MY NEW COMPUTER TODAY!!!!! I'm installing Sims as we speak! 3 packs down, 8 to go! :D

I played a bit of Sims on my laptop (cause I found out I could use CAS without the game crashing), and I made a Sim version of Cinderella. She still needs a bit of work, but I'm thinking about using a modernized version as the founder of my next legacy. Here's some pictures (you can also give me feedback if you want in the CFF :)).
