I had started an Legacy family not long ago, starting with Drake Sutherland. The first parts are a bit boring, he just runs around trying to find a perfect mate.

However I came across that Perfect Genetic Challenge and decided to combine both challenges. I had to create Sapphire, who had blue hair and amber colored eyes before moving her into a lot (So she didn't have much money), Drake was pretty poor since he had to move into the largest lot. However I had him go flirt with Sapphire.....

That's when it all went south. Sapphire was becoming increasingly annoying and hard to flirt with (She wasn't even unflirty), she would reject Drake's social many times and just ugh. Eventually however Drake and Sapphire started dating and got married.

The house only got a minor upgrade as Sapphire didn't bring much with her (The house later gets destroyed anyways). They eventually had three kids, Dawson, Darwin and I think the youngest was Darson, he had the same hair color as his mother but not the eyes. However Sapphire still kept annoying me with her ways so I forced her to take care of the kids (Trait- Dislikes Children).

By the time all three kids were teenagers, well two of them were living in a tent and another was sleeping in a sleeping bag (I told you they had a small house).

However shortly after the formal the game crashed >.>, so I lost a couple of hours on my sim game, enough for two of the kids to be children again, Dawson was still a teenager.

Now you can understand this made me furious. So furious that my legacy family got stuffed up and I ruined all their lives. (I forced the kids to grow up, sorry but I was in that phrase and that's where I will start again), I made the teenagers get bad grades, the parents hate each other and hate their kids and vice versa. Everyone fighting in a small place, got rid of the tent and bag, and even the toilet. That's how annoyed I was. Then I made the house even smaller by fitting everything in one room, so the kitchen is in the bathroom and the bathroom is in the bedroom and the bedroom is in the kitchen. I also made Drake cheat on Sapphire and went to have three kids with Morganna, a Sim I created Jessica and Morganna's daughter Jan when she aged to adult. I had Master Seductive Reward. Then Sapphire slept with Morganna (I might have this wrong), Drake moved Jessica in when they broke up and Sapphire moved in Morganna. Big mistake as I made Morganna and Jessica fall in love, dump the other two and ran off.

Eventually I got sick of it and killed everyone but Dawson off, since he was still the Legacy heir. He was still a teen and grew up by himself.

After he became an adult I started to get his life back on track, he came across Cora Rivera (She was part of a family that moved into Sunset Valley, I am not sure if she comes into everyone's games) and starting flirting with her. Soon Cora and Dawson are dating and married, Cora gets pregnant however..

I was still annoyed about the game crash, so instead I made Dawson go to Cora's family's house and starting a relationship with her sister Rosanna, in front of her family. Soon after he was found out (And Rosanna was the one who accused him of cheating, when the last person he kissed, was her! Capital B much, considering she knew he married her sister). Cora found out and was angry, but didn't dump him however. But I created a storyline, Dawson killed Rosanna and the rest of her family up, forcing Cora to stay with him.

When the baby was born, Scarlett Sutherland, Dawson became abusive towards Cora and ignored Scarlett, beating her up everyday and yelling. Once Scarlett became a child, Cora divorced Dawson, which wasn't a good idea because Dawson "killed" her leaving him with Scarlett, who hated him for what he did.

Scarlett, the next legacy heir pretty much ignored her father, hating him for what he did, and when it was time for her to grow up into an teenager, Dawson died.

So once again, another teen in an small home all by herself. But Scarlett started to make it feel like home instead of a dump, and slowly the transformation begun. She was still poor but doing better then her previous family members. She became an adult and married another sim named Sawyer.

This time they were an okay couple until Scarlett fell pregnant. Once the baby boy Xander (Who was meant to be a girl!) was born, Sawyer died. Now I was following a storyline so I imagined Sawyer sacrificing his life for Xander (Who was meant to be named Jill) from let's say the Grim Reaper who wanted to take the baby, so he saved Xander's life. (This is following a real story of mine, sort of Scarlett, Sawyer, Cora and Dawson are all now dead characters in my story, except Scarlett who is alive, but this is like twenty years after these events happened, but the story finishes after Xander was born >.> The game ruined the whole storyline).

Now in my story Scarlett is a woman dating two women in the story named Sable and Raven. So in the game I created Sable Blackstone first, once Scarlett was over Sawyer she started dating Sable and married her, I got the No Jealously reward and made Raven Savage.

However that all went to hell, because once Sable and Raven got it on, Scarlett accused Sable of cheating >.>. So naturally I got annoyed because once again the game ruined what was my story. So once Xander became a teenager the three were no longer use of me, so I killed all three of them off.

And starts again, a teenage orphan living at home by himself, however thanks to Scarlett his home doesn't look like a dump, and a place I wouldn't mind living in. It's the one thing she did right.

So going through all of that and having Xander became an adult, it was time for the next legacy. He met Scarlett Weasley, a girl who comes from a family full of redheads including herself (Yes she has the same name as his mother, that's because her family already existed. Xander's mother Scarlett was best friends with Weasley's Scarlett's brother Charlie, and even dated her sister Jessica as a teenager. Xander's Scarlett was a toddler when the other one was a teen)..

Now Xander is married to Scarlett and they just had a baby, since I saved and quit after it was born I don't remember the name haha. Sadly the Sutherland is no longer part of the last name, because Xander is a jerk (When Scarlett married Sable and became Scarlett Blackstone, despite trying to make it Sable Sutherland, however this wouldn't be a problem if Xander hadn't changed his last name from Sutherland to Blackstone. So now it's Meet the Blackstones, not the Sutherlands).

The question is, what lies next for the baby girl of Xander and Scarlett Blackstone? Will she have red hair too? (Xander has brownish hair), will she grow up as a teen? Will Scarlett and Xander achieve what the others couldn't and grow old together? (Xander however is younger then Scarlett, who's an adult and like 13 days from being an Elder, might be 17). Will there be anymore children? Will the now Blackstone legacy family get back on track? Stay tune next time on Blackstone- The next Legacy.

@Willow's Tara: Lol! Thank you for that. I must say that if you ever created a blog and wrote a story with all of that it would be the most drama filled one I've ever read. There would definitely not be any boring parts.


EDIT: Also, I just noticed an oops in my last chapter. Sebastian mentions the law about only turning one person...please ignore that. I forgot I changed it so they could turn a human every 100 years. Sorry guys, I'm making all this up as I go along, half of which I've already forgotten about.

Haha no worries, I might think about it (Although pictures will be scarce), but for now I don't know what's going to happen because my computer is acting up again (Well I am not sure if it;'s my computer or Sims 3 this time, but my computer is being a little piece of crap).

Updated though before the Sims 3/computer crapped out on me. Xander didn't make it, I noticed Scarlett Blackstone and her daughter Rochelle Blackstone did not have a celebrity status while Xander did (For some reason all the family members before them do, I blame Morganna Wolff and Jessica Goldheart with their involvement towards Drake and Sapphire Sutherland). Something weird happened though, when Xander died and Rochelle aged to Toddler, she got 1 star >.>, do the kids inherited the celebrity status or something? (I made sure Drake didn't go near Scarlett or Rochelle when I realized this, I wanted them to be celebrity free, which is why Drake had to be killed off).

I would have killed Rochelle as a teen (She's a child now) but her mother isn't the legacy heir so it would have ended with her. I still don't know how she got the star though when she didn't go near anyone with a star, even her father died before interacting with her (Then she grew up)

Perhaps most excitingly, I finished my first draft of my first novel last night! \o/ I am on my way to graduating now. Here I come, revising!

Other than that, I'm thinking my Random Legacy will probably update every Wednesday, since that's the only day I don't work at either of my two jobs typically, haha. We'll see what happens. Maybe over Spring Break next week I'll kick it into gear and give ya'll daily updates just to keep this thread hopping. xD

Hey, guys, I'm sorry I've been away.
For awhile, I hadn't even loaded my Sims game. The constant freezing and lagging was getting to me, and I had a a new game, KoA, to spend hours and hours on. Then I decided to try the nothing is free challenge, and that hood is playing with no lags or freezes for me, maybe because it's so empty. Maybe it will become a pain in the ass when the population grows, but for now, I can play it.

So, I don't know what I'm going to do about this legacy. I'm tired of playing a game that freezes up every few minutes. I'm holding out hope that either SHT or its patch will improve the performance that Pets destroyed (there is a history of that happening in the Sims 2 series), but I also am not sure I want SHT or its patch because the social intrusion. So, I'm waiting until that's released and mods are updated and created to disable all before I decide if it's worth it. I thought about uninstalling Pets, but I use too much of the build stuff it came with. I won't be happy going without it, just as I'm not happy playing a freezy game.

So I guess my legacy is on hold until after SHT releases and I hear more about what it does or doesn't do for performance issues.

And of course ME3 will release soon, and I will be busy saving the universe.

And, I think I finally might go back and try my other legacy... I'm kinda scared that it's going to glitch on me. *crosses fingers that it doesn't* I haven't had the best of luck lately, though yesterday I went and updated all my mods.

Right after I finished the last chapter my save finally died completely. It had been CTD occasionally, but it was random and I could always seem to get past it. Resetting the town helped get through until Gen 3 took over, right after birthdays though it got beyond saving. I made a copy of the family and moved them to a new save. Of course this means no graduation ceremony for them, but it wouldn't let me get past the aging. I wanted them in the new version of Castle Canyon anyway after I redid it with the pet community lots. I've decided not to repair relationships with the other townies and NPCs.

Just like my other challenge I got a notice that an unnamed sim was dying and that the house was empty now that all sims had died or moved out and then CTD. Crash analyzer says corrupt save (had been through the last 10 crashes) but I wasn't able to move past this death.

Now that it's all cleaned up and in a new save I'll get to work on the next round of chapters. I have one more of Gen 1 before Gen 2 takes over and enough to do a few chapters of Breanna before moving on to Gen 3. (I think the most I can squeeze out will be 4 maybe 5 since I got really bored with Breanna and her husband)

If I started a blog with my legacy, would it matter if there were pictures? Obviously the past legacy probably is more interesting and I don't know what direction they are going into now.

I doubt it but there is a chance I may lose all of my Sims 3 stuff, including the houses I recently build that actually look like they could be real houses and not lazily done in five minutes. My computer is off getting a look at since it's acting stupid, making these noises and you can hear a soft alarm noise every few seconds at times, (The fan I think is the cause), so it's going to be a bit before I can continue on with the Legacy family (So bored)

So, um, hi guys! Yeah... it turns out my commitment to updating once a week kind of backfired. >.> It made it feel too much like work to have deadlines and I got stressed out and ended up not playing Sims at all for like a month and a half. I also felt guilty about telling you guy's I'd update more and then not, so I stopped coming here too. Yeah, I way over-think things.

Anyway! I eventually wanted to play the game again, and I was planning on just installing Pets and starting over again, but then I loaded up my legacy just so I could save the family first, in case I changed my mind later. Once I logged in, though, and saw their house and everything I'd been working on, I decided to go ahead and keep playing them. This time, though, I decided to just play a little while without worrying so much about the story and everything, and wait until I had some buffer built up before updating my blog. So I did, and now there's a new update! And there will be one next week! And after that hopefully more, I have enough pictures for at least half of another chapter after that.

I agree wholehartedly with you on that! It's annoying really! I haven't traveled, have the immigration settings so high that there hasn't been one sim immigrated yet. I am wondering however if its due to the stylist career that Luke is in right now....it opens up the stylist menu a lot of course :( any thoughts on that on here???

I can't seem to get very far without the CTD. It has to be something I have added to the game because I have played it a lot since pets released and never had a CTD. Now I can't get through a sim month without a freeze and crash.

So it has to be an incompatible hair file, or a windows update that doesn't like the game :cry: I guess it's time to do a clean sweep, uninstall and install again :( and hope that I can salvage my current challenge saves.

I did grab this the other day when they started up in my RLC since I had played it for 3 generations without a crash. The only error I get is a corrupt save file. For every crash. The exception log the game gives says it's an error reading the TS3W.exe file, so I'm at a loss as to what the real issue is :faceslap:

I'm making a backup of my saves, will uninstall clean up the computer and install again and see if the issues still happen. I really don't want to but, if I have to start over I guess I have to start over. :(

Simbody, Have you tried scanning your CC with Delphys Dashboard? That will help with finding corrupted files and has helped me a lot.

Yes, and I had a few that were Sims 2 conversions it didn't like so I took those out. As far as I know I never used those files, but the game does like to randomly use files for NPCs and Townies.

I realized that I had taken more files out and hadn't cleared my caches since then so I cleared those and will test it again. Then when I updated I forgot I had an old relativity mod so I had to remove that again, I don't use it anyway so I'm not sure why I kept it.

With all the steps I've forgotten and the time I've wasted I could have installed everything again :rofl: It's one of those days I should have stayed in bed :giggler:

Yes, the stylist and architecture careers can cause error 12 problems from opening CAS or CASting patterns frequently.

I know that for architecture, my Stella reached the top of her career by using only the drafting table and researching architectural design. I also felt free to sell those sketches.

I had severe glitches when trying to actually redesign homes, which was a major bummer. I was looking forward to using those interactions with customers in my story.

Anyway, I think a stylist could technically advance in the same way, by researching fashion concepts.

And if one career is too glitchy, you can also re-roll for that sim's career. =/

Well....the annoying thing is...for what I had planned he has to do a whole lot of that :( he can progress probably by doing stuff other then styling, or I could just reroll...but it would kind of ruin my plot (again! Previous plot got ruined by traveling getting my game error 12ed....)

I still haven't decided on Showtime yet. I'll get it eventually for sure, but I'm not sure if I should get it to install when I install Pets so I can get through all the new EP glitchiness at once, or if I'm going to wait until after I've played Pets for a while without it, first. It shouldn't be too much longer, either, since Phoenix is already a teen in my game, and I'll be ready to move to a new neighborhood soon after Gen 2 starts. RL is getting in the way lately so I'm not sure when the next chapter will be done. That and I keep having crashing issues, which may or may not be related to CC, or pets, or both. I'm a bit more than miffed at it all. I've played since the game released and have have little to no real issues with my game until recently and I know my computer can handle it, it is a gaming/work station after all. Or rather my computer can handle every other high performance game/program out there, it should handle the sims without any trouble. :wtf:

I always get the EP's on the first day they come out but I'm not so sure if I want to get Showtime right now. When all the CC was destroyed by Pets.....I was devastated. You guys just don't understand, I cannot play without CC. So I don't know if I can go through that again. I'll just see how things go for everyone else. Having said all of that, there is a chance that I will take a detour to Walmart when I pick up my daughter from school and buy it. Sometimes I just can't help myself.

Yeah, ME3 drops today. I'm still working on my perfect playthrough of ME2 to import. I've gotten distracted by the *other* challenge and having been devoting enough time to Shepard, so I'm not ready. But my husband is, so I'll watch the opening cinematics with him.
I'm guessing a spring break release is timed by the game industry on purpose, just like Xmas release.

Anyway, if you or anyone who has SHT can test out moonlighting as a DJ as a non-standard career, that would be great. You don't have to spend a whole Sim life doing it, just find out if you can do it for monies, and we can add it to the career list.

Unfortunately, as Becky noticed, I've been struck by the lag monster. I think it has to do with the fact that my laptop is over 2 years old and I've been stuffing it with Sims EP's... Even if I *wanted* to get SHT, I'm not sure my laptop would be able to handle it... Though, to be honest, it's basically just a stuff pack with a could extra Ambitions Professions (it sounds like).

Other than the social features, I actually like quite a bit about Showtime that I've seen, EXCEPT for the fact that it really should have been integrated with LN. I can't believe that bands can't audition for gigs or perform on stages in front of crowds. Or how about the fact that we can create lounge bars, but can't have lounge singers perform in them because there can only be shows in lots marked as coffee houses, not bars? I swear, I think I might have to learn how to mod and figure out how to fix some of that if no one else does, because it is just too sad and ridiculous.

Yeah, I never let my game connect to the internet anyway, especially since they started putting ads in game, I'm just kind of annoyed that they spent so much time programming a bunch of features that most people don't even want, instead of making a better game, you know? I saw in some interview with one of the producers, I think, where they asked him what the hardest part of making this EP was, and he said it was, 1) getting all the social features to work, and 2) that so many people didn't even want those features after they made them. I still haven't even installed the last expansion yet, since I've heard about so many people's neighborhoods getting messed up afterwards, and I just wish they'd at least make a game that works before getting sidetracked by trying to be hip and with it in the social networking sphere. Anyway, I'm ranting and there are enough Showtime rant threads on these forums, so I'll stop now. ^^;

I completely agree with you. I didn't get the most recent update for that very reason. If EA make their game any more internet based, I don't think I will be buying any more Sims games ever. I'm really torn between SHT myself. I really want to not get it just to help prove the point that I'm not going to just buy everything that EA comes out with regardless of the fact that it seems thrown together from an idea that it seems a small percentage of players actually wanted. (Not to mention if they were planning to do this, they should have lumped this in with LN and not given it its own EP).

On the other hand there's some REALLY fun new objects. And I'm an object whore. Plus all the new worlds (like Reyes County) that are created will be made using SHT and will need it to install them.

Ugh. I hate that I might have to give in and get it for reasons that aren't even because I LIKE the EP.

1) Cry myself to sleep then go out and buy SHT tomorrow, patch, and start my Irving/Dalca legacy by Monday or so.

I just found out I was wrong about this part, so that's one thing that's not so bad after all. I had been under the impression that the main difference about the coffee house lots was that sims could perform there, but now I'm not sure what's special about them at all, other than the name.

Also, has anyone tried looking at my blog recently and not been able to? I posted an update yesterday (Chapter 12 (http://keattslegacy.blogspot.com/2012/03/chapter-twelve-keeping-friends.html) ) and there hasn't been a single view of it yet, which is unusual. Maybe it's just because people are busy with other games and challenges and stuff right now and not checking this thread as much, but I thought I'd ask just to make sure nothing's wrong since usually I'll get at least a couple views soon after posting. Or maybe my last update was so bad that no one wants to read it anymore. :lol:

Have you checked to see what the Crash Log Analyzer says?

Miss Puff: Sometimes Blogger does get a glitch where it stops showing your true stats for a few days. I've had it twice and I know someone else had it at least once (but I can't remember who... all I know is we were talking about it via PM). It'll fix itself out soon enough on its own once Blogger notices it.

Haha, I'm glad you like him Cece. I almost did the same thing (moving to a new town immediately and explaining it through the story) because of how laggy my game is, but I want to try and stick it out as much as I can. If I get to the point where it's either move towns or throw my laptop out the window - I'll move towns. But I'd hate to do something when it isn't explained in the story, so I feel ya there!

Got SHT and was checking out Starlight Shores (of w/e tf it's called) and its not THAT bad. I mean, I'm not impressed by it but its not as bad as I worried. (That said the sims themselves are UGH so I'll be fixing that) I'll start working on moving in the Sabos once I get home and hopefully have a chapter up for tonight. I aged up Briar's wife in CAS last night and... wow. I think I may let her have 4 of Briar's necessary 5 kids.

I only have 3 generations left to go! Come on game, don't fail me now!

I did 10 generations in Riverview, and I have three generations left for Barnacle Bay. I think I can make it.

Sometimes I had lag problems, sometimes I didn't. I had a bad time in Riverview during gen 3 and then 5, but the problems mysteriously resolved.

Barnacle Bay has been just increasingly laggy each generation. I blame the crap they've accumulated, and pets.

I did ten generations in Riverblossom Hills. Well, gen 9 moved to fresh version of RH to do the Living in the Past thing, but the neighborhood still played fine in Gen 9 and probably would have continued to do so in Gen 10 if they stayed.

Note to Game of Thrones or Dragon Age fans; there's a new rpg coming out in May based on the GoT books. George Martin is involved in the writing. I just read a review of it in Game Informer that says the gameplay is heavily influenced by DA:O, so it's sounding really good. I just pre-oredered. :P

I actually like the SHT town (that's what I'm calling it, I refuse to learn the name, it's just "SHTtown"). Not the inhabitants, they're pretty eww. But the town itself is actually a pretty accurate resemblance to Hollywood. I liked the attention they put into the spanish architecture.

However, with the space limitations, there's really no reason to play it unless you're ONLY doing showtime careers. There isn't even room for a film studio. But once someone comes out with a custom neighborhood that includes SHT lots it should be quite enjoyable. I might try to look into adding them to Grey Meadow, if I can figure out how to get them to work. They need a hood with lots of space.

I don't know if I will ever get back into my current RLC I moved them to a new world, but I just can't seem to enjoy them.

Jenna is so far the longest living sim I have ever had. I play with 150 days and right now she is over 168 days old. It will be very sad when she does meet the reaper. I usually don't care when a sim passes but I've gotten attached to Jenna. :( Gen 4 is already born and she has been enjoying her great grand child. Breanna and her husband are both elders already.

Also I am starting a new job on Monday. It's part time for now but still 6 hrs a day, so the time I have at home goes to the kids first before the games. It also means I have to get back on a normal sleep schedule :D No more 2AM play sessions and a nap the next day :rofl:

Apparently Story Progression loves itself some Cagleys. Out of maybe...40 or so sims in my bin, almost half of my immigrants in the savegame I'm messing around in use Faith as one of the parents. Including, so far, THREE Faith/Kirk girls.

Try Wordpress instead. That's what I use and it's super easy to just upload pictures that aren't too big or anything.

How do you guys do it?
I use blogger and host my pictures on photobucket. The first time I put a picture on my blog I used the "insert image" option and chose "From a URL". I picked the largest option, but then went to edit html to change the size values to make them even larger anyway. Then, for the rest of the images I copied the html generated by that and simply changed the name of the file at the end of the url of each image.

Now, everytime I start a new entry I first edit an old post, copy the image html from there and then paste it into the new post to edit. All of my pictures are in the same album on photobucket and named "Screenshot-X.jpg" where X is a number in numerical order, so all I have to do is increase that number by one for each new image. It sounds kind of complicated, but it's really just a bunch of copy and pasting, and to me it's much more effecient than using "insert image" all the time.

This is what the html code that I copy and paste looks like, with the part I edit for each picture in bold:

Cece: About freezes in SS: Go add more doors to the gym, both from the outside of the gym to the inside and from the inside to the pool. I went ahead and deleted the halfwall around the pool too, and that oddly placed juice bar that can't possibly be accessible to sims near the palm trees (you'll see what I mean). Supposedly there's no "holes" in the routing paint in SS, but I had a good ten sims stuck at the doors of that place, unable to enter or exit because there was only one one-square one.

I'd then suggest going through SS and looking for other possible building flaws like that. People are still reporting routing error style lag, and that's the only other thing that could really be causing it, if in fact there aren't "holes."

Basically what I mean is, EA sucks at building houses, you know how to build houses to avoid traffic jams (as does anyone who has ever played with more than two sims in a household), go proofread their work, because they screwed it up.

EDIT: Added a few doors and 3 tile archways to the gym and did a complete reset town and my lag is down to minimal! THANK YOU ZOKU! I mean, it still hanged and had to be forced-quit but I've come to realize that the hanging is a product of my computer issues, not so much the game itself.

So I might just have updates coming, and I've finally set out a plot for this generation. I'm leaning towards Melody for my heir and already have her plot set for Gen 9 if I do decide to go with her.

Oh and Zoku, have you had the problem of looking for a stuck sim only to be led into a body of water? Paris wasn't going to work so I clicked her image on the pop up and it led me off shore. O_o I couldn't actually SEE her so I reset her and it led me back to her house.

Hi everyone. I have been silently lurking for awhile and, as some of you know, I already follow a good bit of random legacy stories. I have been contemplating starting one of my own one of these days. However, I have a few questions first. I might have overlooked them in the blogger post so, if that's the case, just tell me to read a bit harder. ;)

Adopted children: does this HAVE to be adopted through the social worker? Or can it be any type of 'adopted' children as long as they are not biologically yours? Say, your sister gets pregnant as a teen and doesn't want the baby so you adopt him/her; would that count?

Random Traits: I understand the concept, I just want to know about first rolls. If you roll this on generation 1, would you randomly select your founder's traits in CAS? If so, eeek!!! :lol:

Also, does everyone roll for all 10 generations at once or do you roll once you start having babies? I suppose it would be easier knowing what is coming. Anyway, I do have my general legacy I am working on now but the more I read some of yours (you know who you are) the more interested I am in trying this, mostly because I am such a control freak and am already feeling the "sameness" of playing in generation 3. Back in the early days of my sims 3 simming I read somewhere that that weird "freeze" it does indefinitely, where the leaves on the trees are still blowing and the plumbob is still twinkling is apparently graphics card incompatibility somehow. As in not being strong enough.

And you're quite welcome, of course. I didn't have lag from the gym myself, but only because I happened to scroll over there within a sim-hour of starting the save and saw it coming before it actually managed to lag. I'm still keeping an eye out for other crappy lotbuilding around town.

Oh and Zoku, have you had the problem of looking for a stuck sim only to be led into a body of water?
Not personally but someone was talking about sims they imported through SimPort spawning in the water that way, so maybe they were mistaken and it wasn't just a simport issue.

Hi heaven! :) Great to see you here! I know Cece already answered your questions, but I wanted to address your last one. I personally prefer to roll when my Sim is pregnant with the heir, like right before she/he's born. It's totally up to you, but I think it's much more fun to wait and be surprised. Besides, ten generations can take a long time to play through and the rules do change once in a while, like when expansion packs come out.

I need to start a new random legacy, but I can't decide on a world to play in. I was going to use Charlton Island, but apparently the patch screwed up my non-EA worlds or something cause I got the blue lot issue/bug. I uninstalled them all, so hopefully that fixed it...

Buckley, I just downloaded the new world by My Sims Realty, Storybrook County and it is FABULOUS! I am so impressed. I suppose it depends on what you are looking for, of course. This one has it all (well besides Showtime lots and an art gallery but those are easily added). When I'm not playing the Avendales, I have been working on adding some of the lots that I want before I start playing. I can't decide if I want to move my heir from the Avendales there or start the new legacy there but, for the first time in awhile, I am really excited about the town. I definitely recommend looking it up. Disclaimer: I've not actually played a sim in it yet so it may look beautiful but play crappy. I suppose I will see when I get there. I just finished my art gallery/museum and am working on a Dave and Buster's-esque arcade/hangout.

Kayla, I think it depends on how you feel. Are you attached to them? If the answer is not so much, it might be worth starting over.

Honestly Kayla you've had so many issues and problems with the Malkiers that I think starting over would be your best bet. Unless you just bin them and remake them in a new town. If you go with that second method then I would LOVE to see the Malkier's reborn elsewhere. I don't want to lose them, but I just want you to actually be able to play your legacy with less problems.

I roll for each generation when I'm about to have the first baby. I know some people roll for all ten at once, but given how slowly I play I prefer to leave room to include each expansion pack (if I choose to get it) and other rule changes in my future rolls.

I also roll for each generation right before they're born. For the same reasons that other people have mentioned, but also because I have a tendency to way over-plan my stories in advance and I'm trying to stop doing that because I tend to have more fun playing and just seeing what happens than trying to MAKE things happen, and also because sometimes the unexpected things make for the most interesting stories. :) But in the end it all comes down to personal preference.

And LadyAwesome (or should I call you Kayla?), I JUST finished catching up on the Malkiers, so I would definitely be sad if you didn't continue them in one way or another.

EDIT: Oh, I also wanted to add, someone mentioned Anne Arbor, which is the neighborhood I'm using for my current legacy. I would personally not recommend it. Not only is it very big, but it is split in half down the middle by a mountain that you have to drive all the way around. There is only one grocery store, so I ended up adding another one because the Keatts live on the opposite side of the mountain from it. It also comes with only one school, although there is another one that you can download from the site. I did that, but Phoenix ended up being automatically enrolled in the further one anyway. :faceslap:

@Red- Living in the past was removed a while ago. No one ever used it, so we all decided to just get rid of it. I honestly don't remember why, but I think it had to do with how complicated (and annoying) it was.

Edit: Red, if you roll manually instead of using Maddie's roller app, you could always add one number to the miscellaneous fun category and keep living in the past on your potential play list. I mean, you'd sort of have to make up the rules for it from memory, but I'm really curious now about what your idea for it was. I'm sure it would have been spectacular! :)

okay, I'm back....I'm sorry I've not been around, but the error 12's and the not being able to play out my plot for Luke has put me off a bit...I've rerolled his career and well, I managed to find a way to deal with the change and stuff. But I'm still lost on the awesome bit. So I didn't play for a while....
But then Red started to read my legacy again, and somewhere in the last few chapters and well, all the comments fueled my addiction I guess :P

so here's the last thing I need before I can continue. You lot remember me re rolling for third gen cause I rolled deadbeat parents again?? All of you said I was okay with rerolling but I already did and mentioned I used my free roll for that. I'm at a loss now if I am still in the possession of my free roll, I would love to rerol the awesome bit as well with the career. Cause my awesome was linked to the career, I was gonna let Luke dress the entire town in purple/violet whatever :P and I don't seem to be able to think of a new awesome goal that is even near the awesomeness I had planned :(. So what do you all say?? Did I use my free roll up? Or not?? I'm not sure anymore lol.

I reset my video cards factory settings though. From what I can tell it is from over heating, which my version of HP laptop does it ALOT and is well know for it.
I am re running it anyway.

Klev - I think you should just do what you feel is needed to get your "juices" flowing so to speak. Because lets admit it, its all about the story with us, that challenge is just a side note.

Yeah, tests have actually been done with this. They'd show a natal chart of a serial killer to people, tell them it was their chart, and they'd be all 'That's so me!'

I was raised by an astrologist/tarot reader, so I grew up in an atmosphere where everyone was explained according to their astrology. Though with my mother, it was not just your sun sign, she knew your moon and ascendant and what you had in which house, so anything you did that was out of character for one thing could be easily explained by something else.
I don't actually believe in it, but I do find myself slipping into that mode sometimes, because I was trained in it.

Ugh...just ugh.

I don't know about the other glitches, but as for the floating Sims issue- Have you used the moveobjects cheat on them? Sometimes, if you move them around via buy mode (for poses or what not) they will start to float and do funny things on the different levels of your house. I had that problem when I was doing your story contest. :) Usually a simple resetSim fixes it, but if that doesn't work I've heard that teleporting them to the mailbox (with TCE) can help too.

For anyone who's interested, I reinstalled Charlton Island, and I'm toying around with the idea of playing my legacy there. The only issue is the rabbit hole rugs... They haven't been updated for SHT (as far as I'm aware), and so I'll be quite limited in terms of careers. Although, now that I think about it I still have them installed, and I haven't really had any crashes (well, no more than usual...). Perhaps they are compatible with SHT? Have you all had any issues with them on the new patch?

@Teal- That's so awesome! My cousin is a librarian, and he loves his job. Good luck with it! :)

It is!! At first you don't even realize it has all the lots because the town center is so small with the buildings combined, but I think it's going to work for what I need it to.

Good news, Colleen! I just tried out one of the rabbit hole rugs (the theatre) and it worked fine! I'm patched through 3.20 or whatever the latest silly patch is, so hopefully they should all work ok! *fingers crossed*
