View Full Version : Issue Using Custom Mesh For Accessory (vs editing Maxis mesh)

Okay! So, for the past X hours I've been poring over tutorials (Dr. Pixel's and Mininessie's), following them basically to the letter, and I cannot get my custom mesh to show in BodyShop.

First, the basics:
Sims 2, all EPs all SPs
Windows 7

Simpe 0.72.1.33855
Milkshape 1.8.4

Mistakes I am NOT making:
- editing the project files instead of the savedsims files

Issues I had that didn't seem to have an effect:
- I had an error when fixing the integrity, but all names were changed properly, so I went ahead. I can try to reproduce the error if it's likely this was the issue.

Okay, so what I suspect might be causing my issue is that when editing the glasses accessory, I snapped both lens and frame groups (since I needed neither), and hid them inside the head. I Regrouped the correctly-placed custom mesh (Antlers from plicka's hair mesh - with the hair removed) to the "Frame" group and made sure it was named properly. I assigned the accessory to "head", exported, and imported it into the mesh file. I placed the mesh file in downloads, with the linked BS file in SavedSims, and loaded BS, went to Create Parts etc, and the accessory mesh doesn't show up at all (thumbnail is still the glasses, obviously).

I've also tried it with both files in Downloads, both files in SavedSims, and with just the mesh file in Downloads.

I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong, as I'm fairly new to all of this (and self-taught, lol), so I'd appreciate any advice, and I'm happy to share any more information that might be pertinent, if asked.

Thanks so much!

Two things come to mind. It could be the error with Fix Integrity. But, it could also be an issue with the number of mesh groups. If you have, say, two mesh groups in MilkShape, then your recolour also needs two mesh groups. If the recolour you've been using does not have the same number of mesh groups as your MilkShape file, it won't work. You can add these to your recolour, but it's a multi-step process.

Accessories can also be finicky with mesh comments in MilkShape, but I'd have a look at these other two problems first.
