ok after being away from the community for a long time b/c i completely destroyed my last gaming desktop that was custom built, i think i may have found something i'm interested in/can afford. at first i was thinking i wanted alienware all the way and have been saving away in my secret stash for one of them but upon reading here that they are overpriced i started looking at other stuff. i found this one:

http://www.buy.com/prod/cyberpowerpc-gamer-xtreme-gxi210-desktop-pc-intel-core-i5-2400-3-10ghz/q/loc/111/220169782.html :new:

its under my budget (yeah!) and red (my favorite color, so shallow i know)
it seems to me that it has all i want. 8gb/1tb with intel i-5 and a nvidia geforce graphics card all i know in my limited computer knowledge are good things....

but my question is will it handle my gaming/download addiction? the computer i killed kept around 5-8g of cc at one time depending on how picky i was at the time and i had 3 ep's at the time. now i want all ep's and the downloads. (for sims2... haven't got to play it all out b/c mine died before i was able to)

thanks to anyone who can answer me! :lovestruc basically asking if i should buy this or wait for something better.

Sorry for the delay, but that offer looks to be sold-out now. How much was this being sold for, if you still recall?
The 4xx series is one generation older than current, I hope you know at least that much; so, it shouldn't be more expensive than PCs with newer generation GPUs.

Just as well, as GT 430 is considered an entry-level card.
If your simming addiction :) is only for Sims 2, I think it may be able to handle all EPs/SPs, but for Sims 3, I had tagged the last 2 EPs yellow "Maybe's" for this card, so its capabilities for future packs may be a concern.

If you could read the last few threads on Desktop purchase regarding my take on choosing GPUs, I'd be most obliged. ;) Then I don't have to repeat myself.

it was originally 786 at walmart online. when that one went out of stock online i printed it out and headed out to try to find something comparable in stock around town....

i ended up at best buy in the hands of two fellow simmers (the geek squad guy and the floor salesperson). between the three of us we came up with this:

I bought the HP pavilion p7-1074 ($599.00)
processor: amd phenom II 960T quad core
ddr3 memory: 8gb
hard drive: 1.5tb

i upgraded the graphics card to a radeon HD6770 (it came with a radeon HD 4200)
also the power supply to a thermaltake tr2 600w

i feel pretty good that even though i spent more than the price for the one i posted here originally I got a computer that can handle the sims 3 whenever i get the desire to put away the sims2 which makes it a better buy in my opinion (that's spelled wrong but blah brain fart). thank you for your response!
